Immortality Simulator [Wuxiaworld]
Chapter 612: Understanding The Dao Teacher Through Bloodline TransferenceLi Fan reached into the air, seized one of the jars of refined blood, and crushed it.
The Kun-Peng essence blood spilled forth, shimmering with a fierce and baleful qi. It writhed like a living thing, squirming outward in all directions.
Li Fan made a grasping motion and drew it into his grotto-heaven domain.
Then he began to analyse it, meticulously.
His purpose was straightforward: to replicate the three divine abilities Ye Feipeng had displayed in his previous life—Kun Devours, Peng Soars, and Bloodline Transference.
Now that Li Fan possessed the Five Elements Grotto-Heavens, Kun Devours was more or less superfluous to him. Peng Soars, as an evasion technique, was worth studying for inspiration. But the one he urgently needed to master was undoubtedly Bloodline Transference.
This divine ability, originating from an ancient demonic beast, allowed the practitioner to subtly influence and alter another's thoughts by transferring their own essence blood into them. Over time, it reduced the target to a loyal vassal concerned only with the interests of the blood's original owner.
In his past life, Ye Feipeng had initially been somewhat disgusted by his own demonic beast bloodline. He had later grown proud of it. What he once called a "demonic beast" had gradually, in his own words, become a "sacred beast."
Such a divine ability was perfectly suited for controlling the members of the Medicine King Sect and others.
But as numbers grew, the risks of such methods increased dramatically.
Moreover, the people held within the Medicine King Cauldron were members of the same sect; they knew each other well.
Li Fan only needed them to refine pills and occasionally serve as combatants, yet he couldn't watch them constantly. Without a method of absolute control, they would almost certainly cook up surprises for him. He would never be able to rest easy.
Therefore, Bloodline Transference was necessary.
Within Li Fan's perception, every minute particle of the Kun-Peng essence blood seemed to possess its own consciousness, emitting sharp and horrifying shrieks. He frowned slightly.
He separated a single drop and absorbed it through his fingertip, watching as it began to transform his flesh.
The moment the Kun-Peng essence blood made contact, those piercing sounds vanished.
A profound silence fell.
Then, tiny tentacles extended and adhered to Li Fan's flesh. Flickering crimson light pulsed through these straw-like filaments, drawing something out of his flesh and into the essence blood.
Then the Kun-Peng essence blood seemed to boil, undergoing an evolution. Within moments it was nearly indistinguishable from Li Fan's own flesh. Even he, as master of this body and witness to the entire process, would have had difficulty telling the difference without careful scrutiny.
After completing its evolution, the essence blood did not withdraw its tentacles. Instead, it transmitted pulses of dark red light back into the surrounding flesh. That flesh, now infused with the essence blood’s power, began its own inexplicable transformation. Under Li Fan's watchful gaze, his own flesh suddenly sprouted tiny tentacles of its own, which clawed and flailed at the adjacent, unconverted tissue.
Homomorphic evolution, is it.
Li Fan considered this for a moment, then abruptly unleashed the power of his grotto-heaven domain. The corrupted flesh, along with the Kun-Peng essence blood, turned to dust. A portion of his body simply ceased to exist, and a flush of crimson spread across his face.
A moment later, he was back to normal.
As long as the grotto-heaven remains unbroken, the cultivator cannot die. The new methodology is surprisingly effective in this regard.
If a Nascent Soul realm cultivator of the old methodology had their body hollowed out like this, recovery would be another matter entirely.
Once restored, Li Fan absorbed another mass of Kun-Peng essence blood. He swallowed a Dao Comprehension Pill, closed his eyes, and fixed his attention on the process of Bloodline Transference.
Not long after, he eliminated the mutated flesh tissue once more. Then he retrieved more essence blood and began again.
He repeated this cycle until only the final jar remained in the chamber. At that point, Li Fan finally stopped. A sharp glint settled in his eyes as he sank into thought.
The process by which Kun-Peng essence blood transforms the human body bears a resemblance to how the new methodology plunders the world, ultimately aiming to seize heaven and replace it. Both begin by absorbing a portion for analysis, then mimic it through homomorphic evolution, creating a convincing facsimile. Finally, they rely on massive proliferation to replace the original.
With a thought, Li Fan retrieved a slumbering Foundation Establishment cultivator from the true Medicine King Cauldron. He enveloped a single drop of his own essence blood in spiritual power and slowly infused it into the cultivator's body.
The Medicine King Sect cultivator awoke instantly, but he was held utterly immobile by the Insect Binding divine ability. He could only stare at Li Fan in panic, struggling violently and to no effect.
Li Fan remained completely unmoved, calmly manipulating his drop of essence blood.
At first, the invasion proceeded smoothly. After homomorphic evolution, it quickly occupied the majority of the space within the cultivator's body.
But somewhere along the way, it was exposed. The cultivator began to reject the flesh Li Fan had claimed. His body convulsed violently, and he vomited mouthfuls of blood.
He did not survive long.
"My apologies," Li Fan said, his expression flat.
He looked up at the sky. The clouds were light, the breeze gentle. No unusual phenomena occurred.
It seems heaven has no particular grievance against cultivators of the old methodology.
He selected another Medicine King Sect cultivator and began the next experiment.
Seven days later, having failed again, Li Fan paused.
I am still too impatient. Expanding too quickly provokes backlash from the host body itself. If I consider the target cultivator a complete world, then a single drop of my essence blood is equivalent to a cultivator practicing the new methodology.
But even if I cannot master the Kun-Peng divine ability outright, that doesn't mean I can't simply follow the prescribed steps of cultivation.
Something clicked into place.
This experiment took an exceptionally long time and cost Li Fan considerable mental effort. But the result was gratifying. The fortunate individual remained completely unaware of the mutation occurring within his body from start to finish. He slept very soundly.
Yet Li Fan sensed that a strange connection had formed between himself and this man. It was nothing like controlling an avatar, where he had absolute command. He could only clearly perceive the man's physical state and faintly catch the fleeting thoughts that moved through his mind.
Li Fan opened Return to Truth's panel.
Sure enough, Bloodline Transference now appeared among his divine abilities.
For once, however, Li Fan felt little of his usual excitement.
During his comprehension of Bloodline Transference, he had sensed something at the edge of his awareness. It called to mind that fleeting inspiration from before—the one that had flashed through him and been forcibly forgotten.
If he thought of the lucky fellow before him as the Xuanhuang World itself, and the countless cultivators throughout the world who practiced the new methodology as the mutated essence blood—quietly, inexorably reshaping the Xuanhuang World from within…
Then what role did the legendary Heavenly Venerable Dao Teacher play in all of this?
