Infinite Awakening: 10,000x EXP Converter!
Chapter 29: [29]: The Acid TsunamiThe Abyssal Dissolution Domain activated.
It did not explode. There was no flash of light, no loud boom, no sudden noise. There was only silence. A deep, complete silence, as the air itself stopped existing inside the field.
The air particles: the oxygen, the gases, everything that made up the air simply vanished. They did not burn, evaporate, or change shape. They just stopped being physical matter. They turned into nothing.
The silence spread outward from Alvian’s palm like a wave on water. A fifty-meter circle of absolute destruction expanded in less than a second.
The concrete floor turned into liquid mud. Not hot lava, but a gray pool of broken minerals. Rusty metal pipes turned into iron dust. Deep stone walls cracked and dissolved into fine glowing powder.
The Bloodhound operatives did not have time to scream.
The ones closest to Alvian, the eight front-line veterans in heavy armor, vanished. Their armor melted away. Their body enhancements dissolved. Their weapons, guns, and gear all turned to dust at the exact same time.
The power did not care if something was living or made of metal. It broke everything apart.
Eight mercenaries turned into gray mud in less than a second.
[DING!]
[Multiple kills registered. Processing...]
The ones farther away had one second to realize what was happening. They saw the wall of destruction expanding. They felt their boots turn soft, their armor pit, and their weapons heat up. The six support soldiers at the back turned to run.
Three of them took two steps before the wave hit their legs. They fell over as their lower bodies turned to mud. The other three were pulled back by a strong wind as air rushed in to fill the empty space.
The team guarding the tunnel exits had it worst. The collapsed ceiling debris from Severing Sword Aura had already weakened the tunnel structure. The destruction wave hit the damaged stone, causing the entire roof to cave in.
CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!
Three operatives were buried. Three others fled into the darkness, their survival instincts overriding their mercenary discipline.
Griff Maddox survived the first wave by pure instinct.
His Kinetic Reaver Talent fired automatically, turning the incoming energy into a push that threw him backward, outside the fifty-meter circle. He crashed hard into a stone wall, breaking ribs, but he was alive.
His boots were gone, dissolved off his feet. His armor was melted and smoking. His left hand was missing three fingers, the ends burned shut by the acid power.
Pell Ossuary survived for a different reason.
Her Bone Lance Talent created bone weapons out of pure energy, not just physical matter. The dissolution field struggled with the magic energy, destroying the physical bone but pausing on the magical frame. She was thrown away as her weapon shattered, her right arm dissolved up to the elbow.
She screamed. The sound was quiet in the empty space, barely heard over the soft hiss of the dissolving ground.
[DING!]
[AoE kill event registered.]
[Processing simultaneous eliminations...]
[11× Bloodhound Operative kills]
[8× Assault Team (Level 32-33): 1,800 base EXP]
[3× Support Team (Level 32-33): 675 base EXP]
[Total pooled base EXP: 2,475]
[Single roll applied to pooled EXP.]
The primary roulette wheel spun once. The cosmic reels turned slowly, as if the System needed time to count what had just happened.
[Roll: 4x (Common)]
[EXP: 2,475 × 4 = 9,900]
[EXP Bank: ~45,000 → ~54,900]
[The System notes that erasing eleven people with a single palm strike is efficient, if somewhat impersonal. Perhaps consider adding a witty one-liner next time. Villains love those.]
Alvian didn’t read the notification.
He was staring at the hole he had made.
The whole subway station was gone. Replaced by a fifty-meter wide, round pit in the earth, the edges smoking with leftover dark energy. The walls were not burned or rough. They were smooth, like the inside of a glass bowl. The destruction was so clean that it polished the stone it could not destroy.
His Essence was down to one.
He had one point left. His HP was still twenty-two, but using that much energy had stopped his body’s passive healing.
He was on the edge of passing out.
But he was alive. And the Bloodhounds were beaten.
Twenty mercenaries. Eleven turned to dust. Three buried under rocks. Three fled. Griff Maddox was unconscious against a wall, missing fingers and bleeding. Pell Ossuary was badly hurt, holding her ruined arm, her face pale with shock.
The edges of the hole hissed softly. A light glowing mist rose from the smooth walls. The air inside smelled like nothing at all. The power had destroyed every smell and particle in the room.
Alvian looked at his hands. The glowing liquid was gone. The S-Rank Skill had used up everything he had. His palms were empty, shaking, covered in sweat and dried blood. Just a boy’s hands. The same hands that used to hold a rusty tool to hunt bugs in the dark tunnels.
’Eight people,’ he thought. ’Eight people turned to dust in less than a second. I erased them. Like they were never there.’
The power was too big. Too hard to control.
He had crossed a line. He was no longer just a fighter. He was something different now. Something that did not fit in the Undercity, or the Academy, or anywhere else. The System had not just made him stronger.
It had made him dangerous.
[DING!]
[EXP allocation recommended.]
[Flesh Limit at VIT 42: ~3,500 safe absorption.]
[Excess EXP will route to EXP Bank automatically.]
Alvian used his EXP to raise his VIT stat from 42 to 45. A warm feeling spread through his body, but he still felt tired. His HP slowly started to rise, and his health regeneration restarted as his Essence recovered slightly.
His legs gave out. He caught himself on his hands, kneeling at the edge of the pit. His breath came fast and weak. The Domain had taken his energy and strained his Talent to the limit.
Griff Maddox moved slightly. The mercenary leader groaned against the wall, his hurt hand twitching. Pell had stopped screaming. She lay still, holding her ruined arm, staring at nothing.
The three soldiers that escaped into the dark would tell others what happened. The story of an E-Rank student who destroyed twenty high-level mercenaries with one move would spread quickly through the underworld.
No one else would take a job to hunt Alvian Vance.
’Good,’ he thought. ’Let them be afraid.’
He stood up. His legs were still weak, and his body felt empty. But he stood up anyway.
Duke Gaius Magnus would hear about this soon. The three soldiers who ran would tell him everything. Twenty mercenaries, gone. An S-Rank Skill used by an E-Rank student.
The Duke would not ignore this.
