Chapter 43: The Front Gate Falls, Clearwater Kick

’Your ancestors would be proud,’ Alvian thought. ’A whole family of people who thought money and Talent rank made them better than everyone else. And now their family leader kidnaps old men and young girls to threaten a teenager.’

People on the street stopped to watch. A Tournament Champion walking toward a Duke’s house in a patched jacket was unusual. Some pulled out magic cameras and started filming. Rich people loved drama.

The guards at the gate saw him fifty meters away. Their scanners checked his power. The scan showed Level 32, E-Rank Clearwater Talent, and D-Rank Skill strength. Nothing dangerous.

The guards stayed relaxed. An E-Rank Level 32 was no danger to them. They thought he was coming to beg or deliver a message. The head guard leaned against the gate post and watched him walk up.

Alvian stopped ten meters from the gate. Four guards in shiny magic armor stood behind the heavy iron door. Each was Level 25 to 28 with normal B-Rank gear. Their rifles were ready, but they did not aim at him. Why aim at an E-Rank kid?

"State your business with the Magnus family," the head guard called out. He sounded bored, like a man used to turning people away every day.

Alvian looked at the gate.

The ironwork was big and strong. It weighed ten tons and was built to block heavy war machines. A normal army would need hours to break it down.

He kicked it.

He poured his Clearwater Coating into his foot, using the acid to melt the iron where he hit it. His high STR 40 gave the kick the power of a cannon ball. Melting acid and pure physical power hit the metal at the same time.

The gate ripped off its hinges.

Ten tons of heavy iron flew backward into the courtyard. It crashed onto the stone floor with a loud boom that echoed everywhere. Dust and broken stone flew into the air. A nice fountain twenty meters inside was smashed flat.

The guards stared in shock.

The heavy gate was now behind them, lying broken on the ground. The doorway was wide open.

Alvian walked inside.

[DING!]

[Kick + Clearwater Coating combo used.]

[Gate health: 0%. Destroyed.]

[Essence cost: 5 (Coating) + 5 (maintain) = 10.]

[Current Essence: 33 → 23.]

[The System praises the Host for using acid chemistry to break heavy gates.]

The head guard snapped back to action first. "ATTACK! Full power!" he yelled.

Four magic rifles aimed at Alvian. Four shots fired at once. The compressed force bullets flew across the small distance in less than a second.

The bullets hit Alvian’s Clearwater Coating layer. The force hit his body from four sides, but his high VIT 68 absorbed the damage easily. The hits felt like light pushes.

[Force impact registered. HP -4.]

[HP: 136 → 132.]

[VIT 68 defense reduction: 96%. Damage very low.]

[The System suggests the guards use bigger guns. Or just give up and go home.]

The bullets melted the moment they hit his acid shield. The metal turned into grey powder and blew away in the wind.

Alvian kept walking.

He did not pull out his sword. He did not turn on his Domain. He just walked forward toward the four terrified guards.

The head guard stayed the longest. He shot three more times up close. Every bullet melted in the acid. The guard’s eyes widened in fear behind his helmet.

Alvian reached him and placed his acid-covered hand on the man’s chest plate.

The armor melted away. The metal bubbled and dropped off in pieces. The shirt underneath melted too. The guard’s skin burned red where the acid touched.

The man screamed and fell to the ground. He was not dead, but he was in terrible pain as his armor melted.

The other three guards turned and ran toward the main house, screaming for help. They shouted words like "intruder," "E-Rank," and "acid."

Alvian let them run. They were not his real targets.

He stood alone in the middle of the courtyard. Behind him, the destroyed gate lay in melted pieces. To his left, water spilled out from the broken fountain. To his right, decorative trees stood along the path. Ahead, the three-story mansion sat with open balconies and defense turrets.

The courtyard was quiet except for the hurt guard leader groaning on the floor. Alarm sirens began to ring inside the mansion. They were loud and urgent as the house realized it was being attacked.

[DING!]

[Battle area entered: Magnus Estate.]

[Enemies detected: 50+ B-Rank guards, 3 A-Rank bodyguards, 1 A-Rank Duke.]

[Gambler’s Delay status: INACTIVE.]

[Recommendation: Turn on Gambler’s Delay before fighting main targets to save up EXP.]

[Fate’s Loaded Dice status: INVENTORY (will trigger on next Gambler’s Delay release).]

[The System reminds the Host that attacking a Duke’s base alone is very bad math. But the Host rarely listens to math anyway.]

Alvian activated Gambler’s Delay.

[Gambler’s Delay active.]

[Saving base EXP from incoming kills.]

[Release word: "Spin."]

[Current saved EXP: 0.]

[Fate’s Loaded Dice: WILL BOOST NEXT ROLL TO EPIC TIER (1,000x - 5,000x multiplier).]

The front doors of the mansion were fifty meters away. They were made of thick wood backed by steel bands. He could see more guards gathering inside the entrance hall. They were grabbing rifles, putting on armor, and getting ready for battle.

Alvian pulled out his short-sword. The blue lines in the metal glowed in the sunlight. The Clearwater Coating acid on the blade hissed and steamed.

Fifty B-Rank guards. Three A-Rank bodyguards. One Level 45 Duke with an A-Rank Magma Behemoth Talent.

He was only Level 32. But he had an S-Rank Skill, an A-Rank Skill, a Fate’s Loaded Dice, and an intense anger.

The front doors swung open. Guards ran out into the yard, lining up in battle defense. Magic rifles were raised. Energy spears were charged. The guards were trained professionals, but they still did not understand what was happening.

An E-Rank teenager had just kicked down their massive gate. Their scanners said he was weak, but their eyes saw something terrifying.

Alvian walked forward.

The first rifle fired.
