Chapter 312: 312 | I Still Meant It [GT BONUS]
Round six killed the bodice.
Chloe didn’t remember the exact moment it gave up. Somewhere between Jordan hooking two fingers under the boning and Chloe telling him she didn’t care how much it cost, the seams surrendered with a sound like paper tearing. Black fabric came away in his hand. He looked at it, then at her, then dropped it off the side of the mattress like evidence he was disposing of.
"That was a magic item," she told the ceiling.
"It was in the way."
"It was a magic item that probably cost you a hundred lottery tickets."
"Quest tickets."
"I don’t care what they’re called." She turned her head. Jordan’s hair stuck to his forehead in dark blond spikes, and there were four red lines running down his left shoulder that she absolutely put there. "You destroyed a magical artifact because you wanted to grab my boobs unobstructed."
"Correct."
"At least you’re honest about it."
"I’m honest about everything now." He rolled onto his side, propped his head on one hand, and grinned at her like a man who had never once in his life considered consequences. "New policy. Full disclosure."
"You disclosed a lot into me."
Jordan’s grin broke apart into a laugh, the loud kind that came out of his chest and shook the mattress. Chloe watched him do it and felt something ridiculous happen behind her sternum, the same thing that happened when he’d let Daniel win at Tekken and pretended his combos were sloppy.
Then she moved her legs and remembered what she’d done.
The sensation hit her all at once. Heat, low and heavy, sitting deep enough inside her that she could feel it shift when she rolled her hips. Six rounds. She’d counted, because counting was what she did with numbers that mattered, and the number was six, and every single one of them had ended with him inside her while she asked for it.
Not asked. Begged. She’d used the word "please" like punctuation.
Chloe pressed a palm flat against her lower stomach and pushed. Gently. Just to see.
"Don’t do that," Jordan said.
"Do what."
"That." He nodded at her hand. "You get a face when you do math."
"I’m not doing math."
"You’re doing math."
She was doing math. Her cycle app lived on her phone, color-coded and updated every morning, because Chloe Kim tracked everything that could ruin her life. The green window had opened Tuesday. It was Saturday. The suit had promised to optimize, whatever that meant, and the suit had been designed by a magical phone app that had also given her boyfriend an unlimited supply of the exact thing currently pooling inside her.
The math was not favorable. The math was a foregone conclusion wearing a lab coat.
"I’m going to shower," she announced.
"Okay."
"I need to shower and think about my choices."
"Also okay."
She sat up. Immediately regretted it. Her thighs went liquid at the hip and a fresh wave slid out of her, warm and thick, running down the inside of her leg toward the sheets.
"Oh my god."
"Yeah, we’re going to need new sheets."
"We’re going to need a new mattress, Jordan."
"The mattress is fine."
"The mattress is a crime scene." She swung her legs over the edge and found the floor with her toes. Standing took two attempts. The first one ended with her sitting back down and Jordan biting his lip so hard it turned white, which was somehow more insulting than if he’d just laughed. "Don’t."
"I didn’t say anything."
She got up on the second try and walked to the bathroom like a newborn deer with a grudge. The stockings had survived. Sheer black, still shimmering faintly at the edges, still clinging to her legs from mid-thigh down. One of them had a run over the left knee. Chloe had no memory of how that happened, which felt like an appropriate summary of the entire evening.
The bunny ears were on the nightstand. She grabbed them on the way past.
Jordan’s bathroom was a monument to a man who had discovered soap four weeks ago and taken it personally. Everything sat in a row on the shelf. Cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen, that sandalwood body wash his mother bought him. Gerald the rubber duck watched from the shower ledge with the empty confidence of a duck who had seen things.
"You’re staying out of this," Chloe told the duck.
She set the ears on the counter and peeled the stockings down her legs. They came off slow, sticking to her skin, and the fabric between her thighs was wrecked in a way that made her cheeks go hot even alone with the door shut. She dropped them in the sink instead of the floor. She was going to wash them. She was going to hand-wash a pair of magical fertility stockings in Jordan McKnight’s bathroom sink like a woman with dignity.
Chloe stepped in and let it hit the back of her neck.
Everything ached. Her hips, her jaw, the muscles along her ribs where she’d arched into him too many times. Between her legs was a whole separate country of sore, tender in a way that would definitely matter tomorrow when she had to sit through anything. She washed slowly and kept finding evidence. A bruise blooming purple on her left hip in the exact shape of his thumb. Teeth marks on her collarbone. More of him spilling out of her every time she shifted her weight, running down her legs, disappearing into the drain.
That was the part her brain caught on.
Some of it was leaving. Most of it wasn’t. That was the entire design of the thing, and she’d known that, and she’d looked him in the eyes and told him to do it anyway. Four separate times. She’d said the words out loud with her whole chest while a magic bodice made her stupid.
The charm had worn off an hour ago.
She still meant it.
