Chapter 65: Chapter 58: Robby

"What’s your name?" Zhang Ji asked.

His voice was translated through his phone.

"Robby!" Robby replied, getting to his feet.

"I saved you. How much are you going to pay me?" Zhang Ji asked again.

"How much do you want?"

Robby pushed the question back to Zhang Ji.

"How much does it cost to get the best possible prosthetic leg?" Zhang Ji said.

He pointed to his empty right pant leg.

Robby had noticed this already, but before, he had thought Zhang Ji was just one of those strange fighters who maintained a unique look on purpose.

But now, it seemed he simply hadn’t had time to get a new prosthesis installed.

’From the looks of it, he seems to be a foreigner. Did he flee here after getting into some trouble?’

As these thoughts spun in his mind, Robby said, "I can replace it for you. It’ll definitely be better than anything on the market—maybe even more powerful than your original."

Zhang Ji gave him a doubtful look, thinking he was just bragging.

’In a dump like this, the best he could probably do is slap on an iron strut made of scrap metal. How could it be better than what’s on the market?’

But on second thought, the shopkeeper had specifically recommended this clinic. Maybe there was something to it.

"I was planning to get a replacement at Dean Hospital. Can you do better than them?" Zhang Ji asked.

"The technology is different. They use true metal prosthetics, but I’m different," Robby said. "I use another technology—Alchemy Technology."

Hearing this, Zhang Ji’s expression shifted slightly, as if he’d made a connection.

"Are you from Guning Country?" Zhang Ji asked, staring intently at Robby.

"You know me?" Robby asked, staring back at Zhang Ji.

"I don’t. Your accent just sounds very similar."

That’s what he said, but Zhang Ji was already certain of his guess.

’Take away the glasses, add a thick beard, and this was the mad alchemist he had seen in the game: Pretton Borossis, the renegade from the Guning Country’s Royal Science Academy.’

’Is it a small world, or am I just that lucky?’

’To think I’d run into such a famous NPC in a place like this.’

In the game, Zhang Ji hadn’t met him until much later, probably close to twenty years from now.

By that point, he was already an alchemy master known to all the players.

He even offered a special quest that, upon completion, allowed a player to undergo a bloodline transformation and receive the Sun God bloodline from the Guning Country’s royal family.

Zhang Ji knew a bit about his backstory, too.

His fanaticism for Alchemy Technology had led him to excavate the royal tombs of Guning Country. From within, he found the enshrined body of the Sun God and used its physical materials to research Alchemy Technology.

When this act was exposed, he was immediately sentenced to death.

However, for various reasons, he managed to survive with the help of his mentor and a lover, leaving Guning Country under a new name.

The new name he chose was Robby.

When Zhang Ji met him in the game, it was already in the Color Cluster Country.

The Color Cluster Country was the birthplace of the bloodline fighters of the Rationalist School. There, he thoroughly researched the Sun God bloodline and successfully created an Alchemy Potion that could transplant it. However, using the potion had certain prerequisites, something to do with willpower, or so he recalled. In any case, it required the player to pass trials and complete quests.

Then he would marvel at the player’s extraordinary talent and finally hand over the potion, thus perfecting his bloodline transplantation technology. It would grant the player some attribute boosts and a permanent passive buff.

It was called ’Son of the Great Sun.’ As long as you were illuminated by the light of a star, you would recover a certain amount of stamina every second.

But right now, he looked like he was still in the early stages of his flight.

And it seemed he was still accumulating the initial capital he needed to complete his research.

"It’s a perfectly normal accent. New Fuerlos originally used the Guning language as well, it just varies from region to region..." Robby said to Zhang Ji. "This isn’t the place to talk. Please, come in."

"Alright."

Zhang Ji changed his mind, deciding to let Robby give it a try.

With that, Zhang Ji stepped into the clinic.

Upon entering, he was met with an array of mechanical equipment that appeared messy but was, in fact, methodically arranged.

Much of it didn’t look like officially manufactured hardware. There were welding marks everywhere, the clear signs of simple and crude, privately-made tech.

Zhang Ji continued further inside. The passage led downward and was blocked by an iron door.

"Excuse me, make way!"

Robby came over, dragging two corpses on an electric trolley.

It was the two men Zhang Ji had killed.

Zhang Ji stepped aside as Robby opened the iron door and dragged the bodies inside.

After a moment’s thought, Zhang Ji followed behind Robby.

After heading a short distance deeper, the whole vibe of the place changed.

There were all sorts of strange materials, chemical solutions, a cold operating table, and rows of cultivation pods filled with blue or green nutrient fluid.

It was a bit like the alchemy research labs on Shanli Island, only much cruder.

But there was no doubt about it; the man was a professional.

He hadn’t been mistaken. This really was Robby.

’Come to think of it, I know of over a thousand useful NPCs in *Ultimate Fighting*, spread across every country. There are probably quite a few who haven’t made their name yet. If I could invest in them and track them down, the future returns would be incredible. Even though the version of the game I played was different, as long as I have enough power and search diligently, I’m sure I can find them. But that’s all for later. First, I need to solve my current predicament.’

"Alright, all taken care of," Robby said, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

"Are you that afraid of the people behind them?" Zhang Ji asked.

Hearing the translated voice from the phone, Robby gave him a strange look. "Sir, you must be new here, right? On this patch of turf in Midliss, who dares to oppose the Dean Gang?"

"They’re that strong?" Zhang Ji asked.

"Who doesn’t know the Dean Gang is backed by the Roman Country? They can even get their hands on military-grade armor," Robby said.

Zhang Ji understood.

’So they’re a local force, propped up by high-ranking officials within a major country for profit. This sort of thing is common among the great powers.’

"How do you plan to help me?" Zhang Ji didn’t dwell on the issue and asked directly.

"I need to take a look at your wound first, if you don’t mind," Robby said.

"Fine," Zhang Ji nodded.

"Then please have a seat over here." Robby pointed to a medical chair nearby, then added, "By the way, sir, what is your name?"

"Zhang Ji," Zhang Ji replied.

"Zhang Ji? It sounds a little familiar, like a name from the Eastern Extreme Country. Are you from the Eastern Extreme Country?"

Robby spoke as he leaned in, carefully examining the stump of Zhang Ji’s leg.

"You could say that," Zhang Ji answered.

"Ah, that’s a great place. Beautiful scenery... lots of delicious food, very livable. I even thought about settling down there in my younger days..."

Robby’s voice trailed off as he suddenly froze.

The wound was horrifying.

He had seen all kinds of injuries, but Zhang Ji’s was more bizarre than anything he’d ever witnessed.

It didn’t look like it was cut by a sharp weapon; it was more like a blunt instrument, but the incision was strange, as if the limb had been crushed and obliterated by a hydraulic press...

’And these marks beside it.’

’Such extensive burns...’

’Was he in a fire?’

Robby cut away Zhang Ji’s tattered pant leg and carefully prodded a piece of flesh hanging from the stump with a pair of forceps.

To his surprise, the flesh was incredibly tough and even emanated a strange, repulsive force.

A fighter’s body was always stronger than an ordinary person’s.

This was especially true for professional-grade fighters.

"Pardon me for asking, but what Rank fighter are you?" Robby asked.

"Is that relevant to the treatment?" Zhang Ji countered.

"It is somewhat related. A fighter’s body is stronger than a normal person’s, after all. I can determine the proper dosage of the potion and the materials for the prosthesis based on your general condition. It would be even better if you were willing to give me a small sample of your blood..." Robby explained.

"I’m not clear on the specific Ranks. We don’t have such divisions where I’m from. If I had to say... an Eighth Rank Grandmaster?" Zhang Ji said.

’He possessed eight fully mastered Grandmaster-level fighting techniques, so he had designated himself an Eighth Rank Grandmaster. In reality, though, based on the varying strengths of those techniques, he was already approaching B-Class.’

"Eighth Rank Grandmaster?"

Hearing this, Robby’s expression changed slightly.

’He knew what a Grandmaster was, but... Eighth Rank Grandmaster? He had originally thought he’d just met a professional fighter of the Sixth Rank or higher, but now it seemed that wasn’t the case at all. Still, he had to confirm if the man was bluffing.’

"Could I take a little blood? Just a tiny bit, from your finger is fine," Robby said.

"Go ahead," Zhang Ji said flatly.

Robby took out a blood lancet, aimed it at Zhang Ji’s index finger, and pressed the button.

"CLICK~!"

The alloy needle bent on impact, making Robby’s eyes widen in disbelief.

’This thing was custom-made! It could pierce a sheet of iron, yet it failed here!!’

"Let me help."

A blue light flashed at Zhang Ji’s fingertip. A wisp of Yuan Qi pierced his skin, and a drop of blood seeped out, falling into the collection vial.

He could have retracted the fighting crystals in his body into the Limited Space before giving blood, but he was also curious to see what properties his blood had at its peak.

"Please rest for a moment..."

As soon as he got the blood, Robby couldn’t hold back his urge to start researching.

’A Grandmaster! In the royal family of Guning Country, that was the level of an imperial guard. There were less than a hundred of them in the entire country. He would never normally get a chance like this—to collect blood from a Grandmaster for research.’

Zhang Ji watched Robby rush off, leaving him hanging, and felt a bit speechless.

’These fanatical researchers are all the same. Once they focus on their work, everything else becomes a triviality they ignore.’

But he didn’t stop him. Instead, he picked up his phone and started studying the local language.

’With my current Spirit attribute, I could achieve a photographic memory with just a bit of concentration. Learning a new language wouldn’t take me more than two days. It would make it much more convenient to get around here. After all, I can’t rely on my phone for translation forever, right?’

...

...

Meanwhile, Robby stared at his experimental data, a strange light glinting in his eyes.

"A normal fusion with bloodline potion Number Three... Number Five works too... even a crude bloodline extract like Number Seventeen poses no problem... Can it adapt to everything? What kind of creature is he? Is he even human? From Origin Star?"

Robby was stunned by how Zhang Ji’s blood reacted.

He had never seen such a bloodline before.

It was as if it could accept anything, integrate everything.

However, this was precisely the trait of a player.

The most elite fighting talent, top-tier in every aspect.

Their compatibility was first-class even when undergoing modifications via Alchemy Technology; they could transform themselves into those absurd forms with almost zero rejection.

Suddenly, a bold idea surfaced in Robby’s mind.

His gaze shifted toward the safe in his sample storage.

’In there lies the greatest achievement of my bloodline transplant research. Of course, it’s still a semi-finished product; the next stage of development has been at a complete standstill. But things are different now. I’ve found a unique test subject. He can definitely handle it! Even as a semi-finished product, he’ll be able to adapt. I won’t have to weaken the bloodline’s inherent potency. I can perform the transplant directly at this concentration. If this succeeds, I’ll witness the birth of a new Myth! To create a god with my own hands? This is too exciting!!’

A fanatical gleam appeared in Robby’s eyes.

’This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I don’t want to miss it, and I absolutely cannot miss it!!!’
