After Zhang Wenda finished speaking, he raised his right hand and smashed it into the mangled, bloody green circuit board wall to his left.
His sharp scythe tore a deep gash in the wall, revealing the adjacent corridor of the maze behind it.
Then, Zhang Wenda crossed his arms and swung down hard at the wall again, instantly carving an opening into the green circuit board.
Zhang Wenda quickly retreated, slamming his back against the weakened wall behind him and breaking straight through into the next corridor.
And this was only the beginning. Before Zhang Wenda could even steady himself, he was already frantically cutting through the wall to his left, with the others hurrying to keep up.
"What is that kid doing? Is he trying to escape? We're already in the depths of the maze. Digging that way will only take him deeper—"
Tang Xingxiong stopped mid-sentence as realization dawned on her. "Oh no! His target isn't me! It's the Angel Engine!"
Just then, Zhang Wenda swung hard at the wall in front of him. A blinding light poured from the cracks, and through the breach, he could see three struggling Angels.
The place Zhang Wenda had been heading for was never the location of Tang Xingxiong's Jade Pendant. He had been following Hu Maomao's directions to the point closest to the Angel Engine.
The space containing the Angel Engine had one final layer of defense. When the vigilant Buddhas saw the intruders, they let out furious roars and charged toward Zhang Wenda's group.
But there was no way they could stop Zhang Wenda.
In an instant, Zhang Wenda became a blur. He rushed forward, flipping and dodging between them before finally landing on one of the chains of 0s and 1s binding an Angel.
As Zhang Wenda watched the tide of Crows pour in, he stared into their red eyes and said, "I told you I didn't care about the Angel Engine. That I'm not interested in saving the world. Did you really believe me?"
"Do you know the trick to making people believe you in the workplace? You pretend no one's watching and secretly tell them a believable lie!"
Under the watch of Tang Xingxiong's thousands of eyes, Zhang Wenda swung his right hand down. With a shower of sparks, the chains snapped one by one.
Once Zhang Wenda had severed most of the chains binding the Angel, three pairs of white wings, spanning more than ten meters, slowly unfurled. An Angelic Tide began to rapidly spread outwards.
"Lamb, I thank you." As the edge of the Angelic Tide slid over Zhang Wenda's skin like silk, his wounds began to glow with a golden light and heal rapidly.
"Don't even think about it!" Tang Xingxiong's crow-flesh surged in like a tide, attempting to smother the Angel, but it was a futile effort.
She might have been able to handle a single Angel if she gave it her all, but Zhang Wenda was already starting to free the second one.
The Buddhas tried to stop them, but 2826, Teacher Rabbit, and Song Jianguo rushed forward, blocking the way for Zhang Wenda.
Once Zhang Wenda helped the second Angel, which had been embedded in the circuit board wall, break free, the outcome was sealed.
"No unclean thing is permitted in the Divine Domain!" The two Angels embraced in the air like twin suns. A beam of white light erupted from above their heads, sweeping across the sky over the Cavalier.
All the filth, gore, and flesh on the Cavalier was instantly purified. The writhing, fused mass of Crows quickly separated back into individual birds.
"Another one!" Song Jianguo raised the giant pair of scissors that Maomao had transformed into. With a loud SNIP at the chains, the third Angel was free.
Seeing this, Tang Xingxiong knew the situation was hopeless and fled without a moment's hesitation.
"God loves all mankind!" The three Angels collided in mid-air, and once again, a brilliant white light erupted. The hostility in the hearts of everyone within the Cavalier rapidly dissipated, leaving only peace and serenity. The light caused the corners of everyone's mouths to curl into a slight smile. More than that, the light instantly quelled the brutal battle raging across the Cavalier, leaving only a few scattered skirmishes.
But that wasn't the most important part. When Zhang Wenda stepped outside the Cavalier, he saw that the energy from the three Angels was gone. The rifts in the sky that led to all the tides of thought were gradually closing. The great array, which had been spread across the entire Internet World like a galaxy, began to shrink and dim.
"If we've solved the problem here, then the rules over in Shanghai should stabilize. The Big Circle's attack should be neutralized."
The moment he finished speaking, a sudden thought made his face drain of color. "Oh no!"
He had barely taken two steps before a large, furry hand clamped down on him. "Where are you going?"
"Teacher, let me go! I don't know where my uncle is! He's in grave danger, he might be facing Qianxi! I have to go help him!"
"Your uncle is fine, really. If you don't believe me, ask 2826. We saw him leave with our own eyes. He said he'd stirred up some trouble and needed to lie low for a while."
Zhang Wenda looked toward 2826, who gave a firm, affirmative nod. Only then did Zhang Wenda breathe a sigh of relief.
"That's true. With my uncle's personality, he'd outrun anyone if he was in real danger." Having thoroughly relaxed, Zhang Wenda suddenly felt his legs give way, and he was caught by a pile of Maomaos.
"Are you all right?" Teacher Rabbit helped the exhausted Zhang Wenda to his feet.
"I'm fine, I'm fine. The adrenaline just wore off and I'm spent." Zhang Wenda glanced up at the Angels, who were slowly ascending to become the first sun of the Internet World, then turned his gaze to the slowly closing rifts of thought.
"So, I guess that means our big problem is solved this time, right? Maybe next time we should stay out of the Big Circle's and the Third Line's business."
Teacher Rabbit nodded. As he supported Zhang Wenda and they were about to leave the Cavalier, he opened his mouth to speak, but a familiar voice cut in from their left. "Oh, I wouldn't be so sure about that."
"You see, the three Angels have only left. As long as someone catches them and shoves them back into the computer, the plan can still proceed."
"What the hell? Could you not be such a downer? Whose side are you on?"
Frowning, Zhang Wenda turned his head and saw Qianxi, with that bulky CRT monitor for a head, standing between Teacher Rabbit and Song Jianguo as if they were all companions.
Qianxi looked at Zhang Wenda. A large yellow smiley face flashed onto its screen, but it was instantly replaced by a red X.
Zhang Wenda tried to move, but was instantly frozen in place, enclosed by a dotted-line box.
The next second, with a great WHOOSH, a mouse cursor the size of a television set shot in from the left, aiming straight for Zhang Wenda's head.
Time seemed to stretch on infinitely. As the immobilized Zhang Wenda watched helplessly, the cursor advanced toward his head in slow motion. Suddenly, a flash of purple appeared between them.
