Infinite Rebate System: Beautiful Women And Endless Returns
Chapter 72: Vincent’s First MoveHale & Associates at 11AM looked different from the Tuesday visit.
Busier. Two people who were obviously staffs. Xavier hadn’t seen before, moving through the corridor with the purposeful energy of people mid-task. A phone call audible through one of the closed doors. The particular atmosphere of a floor that had been quiet for a meeting two days ago and was now simply itself; alive and working.
Xavier stepped off the lift and stopped.
Selene Adler was standing at the reception end of the corridor.
He’d seen her twice before. Briefly at the lift on Tuesday, passing through the corridor on the way out. Both times he’d registered her the way you register something worth registering and filed it away for later.
Standing still at a desk in the full morning light was different.
She was tall. Maybe 5’8", the kind of height that carried itself without apology. She wore a custom dark blazer that fitted properly across the shoulders, pencil skirt, heels that added two inches she didn’t need. Her hair was pulled back in a way that was professional without being severe, exposing the clean line of her jaw and the particular elegance of a neck that made you aware it existed. The blazer’s top button was undone just enough to hint at what the rest of the outfit was containing.... and what it was containing was doing serious work.
Mehn, Xavier thought. Three months of tunnel visioning on Sarah Torres and I forgot the world looked like this.
She looked up from her tablet. Registered him. Looked back down.
"He’s expecting you," she said. "Same room."
Two words less than last time, he noted. And somehow more distracting. He was chill about his approach to her you know haste makes waste.
He walked through the corridor.
Vincent was standing at the window when Xavier entered. At thinking posture. Weight slightly forward, hands loose at his sides, the expression of someone who had been running something through his head and was ready to be done running it.
He turned. They sat.
Vincent opened a folder and turned it to face Xavier. Clean printed sheets. A business overview on the first page.
Xavier looked at it.
Logistics company, he thought. South side of Kenvale.
He kept his expression neutral.
First on the USB list, he thought. Rated A. Current valuation $280,000. Owner looking to exit within eighteen months. The system’s information isn’t just historical. it’s current. Real time.
"Tell me about it," he said.
"The owner is Gerald Obi," Vincent said. "Fifty three. Built the company over twelve years. Six vehicles, contracts with four distribution clients, consistent revenue." He paused. "He wants out. Health reasons. His son isn’t interested in taking over. He’s been looking quietly for four months without putting it formally on the market."
"How did it come to you?," Xavier asked.
"Gerald’s accountant is a client of ours," Vincent said. "Mentioned it in passing last week." He looked at Xavier. "The current asking price is $310,000. I think there’s room to negotiate to $280,000 given the circumstances."
$280,000, Xavier thought. Exactly the USB valuation.
"What’s the revenue picture," Xavier said.
Vincent turned to the second page. Monthly figures for eighteen months. Consistent. Growing quarter on quarter. The kind of numbers that told you a business was healthy without being dramatic.
Boring is good, Xavier thought. Boring means reliable. Reliable means the Asset Rebound return lands cleanly with nothing complicated attached.
He read through carefully. Asked three questions. Client contract terms, renewal dates, any at risk relationships. Vincent answered each with the confidence of someone who had prepared properly before the meeting.
He wants this to work, Xavier noted. The partnership is real to him.
"I want the full three year accounts before I commit," Xavier said. "Gerald’s accountant provides them directly."
"Okay it will be delivered at the end of day," Vincent said.
"Good." Xavier closed the folder. "If the accounts confirm what’s here I move by the end of the week."
Vincent looked at him.
"You’re not going to negotiate on price," he said. Not a question.
"$280,000 is fair," Xavier said. "Negotiating below fairness on a man selling for health reasons isn’t something I’m interested in."
Something moved in Vincent’s expression. Small. The recalibration of someone who had expected one thing and received another.
"Agreed," he said.
They shook hands across the desk and he stood up and left.
Selene was at the standing desk near the window when Xavier came out.
Not passing through this time. Working. Her tablet in one hand, reading something with the focused attention that seemed to be her default state.
She looked up as Xavier passed.
"Done already," she said.
"It was an efficient meeting," Xavier said without slowing.
"Gerald Obi’s logistics company," she said.
Xavier stopped.
Turned.
She held his gaze with the composed expression of someone who had said something deliberately and was watching for the reaction.
She knows the case, he thought.Obviously she works here. Vincent probably briefed the team. He looked at her. But she said it like that on purpose. Testing whether I’d react.
"Yes," he said simply.
"Good acquisition," she said. Returning to her tablet. "If the accounts hold."
"They will," he said.
She glanced up once more. The corner of her mouth moved. Not quite a smile but the shape of one.
Xavier walked to the lift.
2% favorability, he thought. Still 2%. He pressed the button. But she initiated a conversation unprompted. Tested me deliberately. That’s not 2% behaviour.
The gauge must measures affection, he thought. Not interest . Reassuring himself with hope.
Those are different things.
The lift arrived. He got in.
_ _
The accounts reached him at 4PM.
He read through them at his desk with his MacBook and the USB document open side by side. Everything matched — revenue, client contracts, operational costs, all of it consistent with what both sources had shown.
Gerald Obi built something honest, he thought. Twelve years of clean work.
He called Vincent at 4:45.
He looked at the balance one more time.
$823,506, he noted. More than enough. He’d run some background transactions previously amounting to that balance.
He opened his banking app. Found Gerald Obi’s account details from the brief Patricia had sent over. Typed in $280,000. Looked at the number for exactly two seconds.
First investment, he thought. The Chain starts now.
He hit confirm.
His phone buzzed thirty seconds later. Vincent.
"Just got the notification from Gerald’s accountant," Vincent said. The particular measured surprise of someone who hadn’t expected the transfer to land before the paperwork was even drafted. "You moved already."
"You said it was the end of the week," Xavier said. "It’s Friday."
A pause.
"Right on the money," Vincent said. Literally and otherwise. "I’ll get the paperwork drawn up immediately. Patricia will have everything within the hour."
"Good," Xavier said. And hung up.

$1,103,506, Xavier thought.
He stared at that number.
Just crossed a million, he thought. From a single transaction.
And 1,500 EXP from the first investment, he noted. 43,950 out of 50,000. Getting very close to Tier 3.
He set the phone down and looked at the ceiling.
Asset Rebound in 72 hours, he noted. $840,000 incoming. Total balance after rebound will amount to $1,943,506. When did I become this good at maths he chuckled.
Nearly two million, he thought. From $823,000. In one move.
He picked up his coffee.
The chain has started, he thought. Now we wait 72 hours.
