She looked closely at the eagle for a moment. "Remove a few feathers from its neck first. Then draw the symbol directly on its skin with your blood."

General Zhou glanced at Rong Shuyan and he immediately gave a small nod. "Try it."

"Yes, Your Highness."

General Zhou carefully removed the string and folded paper from the eagle’s neck. He then gently moved aside the feathers before pulling out a few of them.

The eagle immediately struggled and once the eagle finally calmed down, General Zhou dipped his finger into the blood from the small cut on his hand and carefully drew the same circular symbol directly on the exposed skin.

"What about me?" he asked.

"The same thing," Lin Xueyi replied. "The symbol needs to touch your skin too."

General Zhou frowned. "Between my eyebrows?"

Lin Xueyi nodded, so he immediately removed the paper from his forehead and drew the symbol directly between his eyebrows.

The soldiers around them watched closely. Some were still doubtful, while others had become curious after seeing how confidently Lin Xueyi gave her instructions.

Lin Xueyi stared at the two matching symbols, then said, "I think you should be able to connect."

General Zhou looked toward Rong Shuyan again and he nodded. "Begin."

General Zhou closed his eyes and focused. For several seconds, nothing happened.

The soldiers became completely silent, even Lin Xueyi unconsciously held her breath. A moment later, the eagle suddenly stopped moving and General Zhou’s body stiffened.

His brows drew together as if he had suddenly seen something strange. After a while, his eyes flew open. "It worked."

He looked at the eagle again before adding, "It worked before too, but... the vision is much clearer now."

Lin Xueyi immediately brightened. [Of course! That means we’re doing it right.]

For the first few seconds, his expression remained calm. Then his brows slowly furrowed as the connection settled in.

"I can see the camp," he said.

Rong Shuyan looked at him. "Clearly?"

"Yes." General Zhou remained completely still while the eagle continued to climb. "The tents are getting smaller. I can see the forest beyond the camp... and the mountains farther away."
