"I want you to work with Physician Liu to prepare poison for the arrowheads," Rong Shuyan said. "If our archers can hit them from far enough away, we can weaken or paralyze some of their men before we have to fight them directly."

This way, they wouldn’t need to rush into battle against an enemy whose full strength they still didn’t know.

More importantly, they could reduce the danger to their own soldiers as much as possible.

Lin Xueyi listened quietly from the side. [So that’s what he meant when he said having more soldiers isn’t the only way to win.]

Rong Shuyan wasn’t planning to beat the Southern Wolf Tribe with numbers, but he was planning to make every soldier they still had count.

General Zhou immediately cupped his hands. "I understand, Your Highness."

He didn’t waste any time. Since the poison needed to be prepared as soon as possible, General Zhou left to find Physician Liu and explain Rong Shuyan’s plan.

Rong Shuyan watched him leave before turning his wheelchair around. "Let’s return to the command tent."

Lin Xueyi naturally followed him, even though Rong Shuyan had already told her to go back and rest earlier, but how could she possibly rest peacefully when her sick husband was working this hard?

He had barely slept, yet he had been dealing with one problem after another since morning.

By the time they arrived at the command tent, Rong Shuyan had already asked several soldiers responsible for managing their food supplies to come and report to him.

The moment they entered, the soldiers immediately bowed. "Your Highness."

Rong Shuyan moved toward the large table in the center of the tent. Lin Xueyi quietly followed and stood beside him.

"How much of our food supply has been moved?" Rong Shuyan asked.

The soldiers exchanged glances and that small reaction was enough to make Rong Shuyan realize that something was wrong.

His eyes narrowed slightly. "Speak."

One of the soldiers finally stepped forward. "Your Highness... we haven’t moved as much as we planned."

Rong Shuyan’s expression remained calm. "How much?"

"Less than half."

The atmosphere inside the tent immediately became heavier.

"Why?" Rong Shuyan asked.

The soldier hesitated before answering, "The Second Prince took away some of the soldiers who were supposed to help move the supplies. He wanted them to follow him to investigate the hidden path."

Rong Shuyan took a deep breath, but he didn’t lash out. After all, he had already expected something like this to happen when he planted the idea of going to the hidden path in Rong Yunzhou’s mind.

"Take some of the soldiers guarding the border and have them help move the food supplies," Rong Shuyan ordered. "The Southern Wolf Tribe most likely won’t attack us today."

After all, they had just sent one of the captured Imperial soldiers back with an open message for Rong Shuyan.

Because of that, the Southern Wolf Tribe would naturally expect the Imperial army to tighten their defenses after receiving such a clear warning.

"But don’t leave the border looking empty," Rong Shuyan added. "Place several wooden dummies along the defensive line and dress them in soldiers’ uniforms."

"From a distance, they should look like real soldiers, especially at night or from somewhere deep inside the forest." He said, "Just do it quickly."

"Understood, Your Highness!" The soldier immediately left to carry out his order.

After that, Rong Shuyan listened to several more reports. He asked how many soldiers Rong Yunzhou planned to take with him, how many weapons they still had, and which ones could be used against the Southern Wolf Tribe.

By the time he finished listening to everything, the sky outside had already turned completely dark.

"That’s all for today," Rong Shuyan finally ended the meeting. "If anything happens, report it to me immediately. And since the Second Prince seems determined to leave the camp, General Zhou will be in charge on the battlefield."

"Yes, Your Highness!" The soldiers cupped their hands before leaving the command tent one after another.

Only then did Lin Xueyi realize just how long they had been there. [It’s already this late?]

Throughout the meeting, Lin Xueyi had dozed off several times. She had even been quietly snacking on dried meat while Rong Shuyan was busy listening to one report after another.

However, when the meeting ended, her stomach was the first to make a sound.

The remaining soldiers immediately looked at her, and so did Rong Shuyan.

Under all those stares, her face quickly turned red, and she instinctively covered her stomach with both hands. [This stupid stomach! Why do you have to embarrass me like this?!]

She had been eating dried meat this whole time! Why did it have to growl now, of all times?

Rong Shuyan quietly watched her embarrassed expression for a few more seconds. But thankfully, he didn’t say anything about it.

"We should return to the tent now," he simply said, as if he hadn’t heard anything at all.

Lin Xueyi immediately nodded. [Yes! Let’s leave before my stomach embarrasses me again!]

Lin Xueyi followed Rong Shuyan out of the command tent as quickly as she could without making it look like she was running away.

Before they entered their own tent, Rong Shuyan asked Eunuch Shen to have the servants prepare dinner for them.

"Yes, Your Highness." Eunuch Shen quickly left, while Lin Xueyi followed Rong Shuyan inside.

After spending almost the entire day surrounded by soldiers and military reports, the quiet inside their tent felt strangely peaceful.

Lin Xueyi immediately sat down. [Finally...]

[My legs are tired, my head still hurts a little, and I’m starving.]

Rong Shuyan glanced at her. "You should have gone back earlier."

"I wasn’t tired earlier," Lin Xueyi immediately replied.

[That’s a lie. I almost fell asleep several times.]

Rong Shuyan said nothing. Not long after, Eunuch Shen returned with several servants carrying their dinner.

The food was placed on the small table one dish at a time. There were several meat dishes, along with rice and warm soup.

Lin Xueyi’s eyes immediately fell on the meat. Compared to what she had seen the soldiers eating around the camp, their dinner was clearly different.

She waited until the servants left before finally asking, "Your Highness, is it really alright for us to eat differently from the soldiers?"

Rong Shuyan looked at her. "Why wouldn’t it be?"

"Well..." Lin Xueyi glanced at the food. "We have so much meat."
