Chapter 159: 159 | Get Out!

Rosalind fake pouted in a false hurt tone.

"I came here for you, and you’re not being very appreciative. It kind of hurts but I won’t take it to mind. I know you’ve been through a lot."

She then moved toward the sofa. As she turned to sit, her nose wrinkled. She looked at the cushion which dexter had cleaned and vacuumed clean, recently vacuumed as though she was about to sit in a public toilet as she gently sat at the edge of the sofa.

It was as though the sofa might contaminate her if she allowed herself to fully relax against it.

Dexter’s eye twitched.

’She’s beginning to get in my nerves.’

Dexter’s patience was wearing thin but he chose to wait and continued watching.

Rosalind crossed one leg over the other as she started speaking.

"Alright," she said, her tone shifting from performative sisterly concern to business. "I won’t argue with you anymore, Mira. I came here for a reason."

She paused, letting the silence build.

"We found the Phoenix Flare Flower."

The name landed in the room like a thunderclap.

Mira’s eyes widened slightly as she stared hard at her sister.

Seeing this reaction, Rosalind smiled smugly and continued, clearly savoring the moment.

"Crowell lead a dungeon raid a few days ago to an S-Rank dungeon, I was also part of the team. " she said. "We cleared the dungeon and killed the Phoenix. One of the rewards was actually a Phoenix Flare Flower."

’Crowell.’

Crowell Montclair. Of the Montclair family. The third most influential family in Stargate City.

Mira’s former fiancé.

The man she had been engaged to before her meridians were shattered, and before she became a cripple and packaged off to marry a bastard she had never met.

Rosalind’s smile widened.

"As you know, the Phoenix Flare Flower is a Tier-5 Heavenly Treasure," she continued, her voice taking on the smooth, persuasive cadence of a saleswoman delivering her pitch. "As I’m sure you know, it possesses a restorative ability called Phoenix Rebirth."

She uncrossed and re-crossed her legs as her confidence grew even stronger.

"Phoenix Rebirth is known for one thing, creating a secondary meridian and repairing damaged ones, granting one the legendary Phoenix meridians which is wider, stronger, and more efficient than the others."

"If you use it, you will gain another set of meridians and repair your former damaged ones. And once your meridians are restored...there might be a chance you could walk again."

Rosalind smiled, crossed her arms and waited for Mira to react.

She wanted the proud, broken sister little sister of hers to be excited, beg, ask about Crowell, plead with her to arrange a meeting. To promise anything in exchange for the flower that could make her use mana again.

And even insult and forsake her useless husband.

Rosalind had rehearsed this moment and she couldn’t help but smile with expectant gaze.

What she got instead was —

Mira’s utter indifference!

Mira’s eyes had widened slightly because she had suppressed a yawn then they narrowed and went completely, indifferent.

"No need."

The two words from Mira’s lips felt like jolt in Rosalind’s brain.

Rosalind blinked.

"I’m sorry?"

"I said I don’t need it," Mira repeated, her voice unchanged. "Now, if that’s all you came here for—"

She turned her head away from Rosalind.

"Get out."

Dexter slapped his mouth to suppress his laughter. So it wasn’t just him Mira was annoying to.

Rosalind stared with a stunned look on her face as though she was dreaming. She frowned uncrossed her legs as she opened her mouth.

"I don’t think you heard me right. Crowell MontClaire , your real fiancé entered an S-rank dungeon for you and found a Phoenix Flare Flower capable of restoring shattered meridians."

She spoke slowly, enunciating each word as though Mira had lost the ability to comprehend language along with her ability to walk.

"If you use it, your shattered meridians will heal, completely. Do you understand what I’m saying, Mira? You would be able to cultivate again."

Mira turned her head back toward Rosalind impatience.

"And I don’t think ’you’ are hearing me right," she said, her voice was so flat at that moment. "I said I do not need it."

She held Rosalind’s gaze for one cold, unblinking second.

"Now, if that is all you came here for, get out."

Rosalind’s mouth opened and closed like a fish gasping for water as the narrative in her head collapsed.

The sister she had come to rescue was refusing to be rescued and was even looking at her with the same contempt she always had for her.

Rosalind stood up from the sofa. Her hands were clenched at her sides, her knuckles white.

"I don’t think you understand what you’re refusing," she said, in a sharp tone. "Father wants you to speak with Crowell. He wants you to ask Crowell to provide the Phoenix Flare Flower to you."

’There it is.’

Mira’s lips curved upwards in a cold smile.

"So Crowell hasn’t actually given the flower yet. And you want me to meet a condition in exchange for a Tier-5 treasure."

She tilted her head, her crimson eyes sharp as she glanced at her sister. She wanted to say something more but she eventually shook her head.

"Forget it. Just leave."

Rosalind’s face flushed with anger and embarrassment.

"You dare defy father? Father will not hear of this!" she snapped as she spoke in a cold tone. "Father has ’ordered’ you to—"

A figure stepped between the two sisters.

Dexter.

He positioned himself directly between Rosalind and Mira’s wheelchair in a relaxed and casual posture but his eyes were cold.

He looked directly at Rosalind, and when he spoke, his voice was anything but gentle.

"Whether it’s your father, or your entire Calloway family..."

He paused.

"...that has nothing to do with this house."

Rosalind stared at him, her amber eyes wide with a mixture of shock and outrage.

Dexter held her gaze without blinking.

"You’ve said what you came to say."

He raised his right hand and pointed toward the front door.

"So now, please leave."
