Investing In My Three Crippled Wives Get 10,000x Times Return
Chapter 186 | Going OutChapter 186: 186 | Going Out
Totally ignoring the fact that deh just sighed a death god contract, the wonder returned to her face as she flexed her fingers again.
Each movement was accompanied by a look of pure, childlike amazement that was so unlike her usual composed expression that.
"Try to move the rest of your body," Dexter said. "See if anything else responds."
Mira’s eyes lit up. But then she shook her head and spoke. "I can feel that vitamins my right arm. My left arm and my legs are still paralyzed."
She paused.
"However, I can feel the healing accelerating and my nerves are starting to reconnect."
She looked at Dexter with a smile.
"By the end of this year, I should be able to move my second arm and maybe even walk."
Dexter smiled. "Hopefully even before that."
Mira glanced at him. The smugness returned to her expression, but it was lighter now. Playful rather than defensive.
"Don’t push it," she said. But she was still smiling. Still staring at her hand.
---
Dexter left her in the dining room, still mesmerized by her own hand.
He went to the kitchen, dealt with the dishes as he thought about Mira.
The 108 Body Massage Sutra, the Glove, the Grade-4 Spiritual Massage Oil, the diamond rice, the Star-Shaped Leaf tea, the Grand Cosmos Scripture, and various other things he had given herc it’s no wonder she could finally move in just a month.
It hadn’t been wasted at all. The only thing left was the bloodline. It hadn’t surfaced yet but Dexter had a feeling it needed some sort of trigger.
He shook his head. ’Will find a way to trigger the bloodline for them’
When he returned to the dining room, Mira was still there, staring at her hand and flexing her fingers.
He reached for the handles of her wheelchair to move her to the living room when she spoke.
"I want to go out."
Dexter paused. "What?"
"I want to go out with you," Mira said. "Today. On your errands."
Dexter blinked and he looked down at her. She was still looking at her hand, but it eas clear she eas the one who had just spoken.
"You want to go outside?"
"Yes."
"With me?"
"Yes."
"Now?"
Mira finally removed her gaze from her hand. She looked up at him with her crimson eyes.
"I want to see the outside world with you."
Dexter was stunned.
Mira wanted to go outside. Mira, who hadn’t left the house since the day she arrived. Mira, who sat by the window every day and stared at nothing. Mira, who had spent a couple weeks treating the outside world as though it didn’t exist.
She wanted to go out, to see the city.
Dexter stared at her suspiciously.
"I hope this is not you completing a request of mine. Because I didn’t ask for this."
Mira glared at him. "Do you think I am that devious?"
Dexter’s expression didn’t change. He continued to look at her with the flat, unblinking skepticism of a man who had been on the receiving end of Mira’s manipulations enough times to recognize the pattern.
Mira snorted. "Okay. I might be that devious. But not this time. This is me wanting to go outside."
Dexter exhaled a breath of relief.
Then Mira raised an eyebrow. Her crimson eyes narrowed with sharp suspicion.
"What exactly do you have planned?" she asked. "What request are you going to make?"
Dexter smirked.
"Don’t worry," he said. "You’ll find out later."
Mira glared at him. Her face flushed. Her ears turned pink.
"Pervert," she muttered.
Dexter laughed. He had no idea what she was imagining, but the fact that her mind had immediately gone somewhere inappropriate said more about her than it did about him.
"Alright."
Dexter agreed to her request. But even as he agreed, a new problem presented itself.
If he took Mira out today, he was showing favoritism.
Taking one wife out while leaving the other two at home. Lyra and Selene would notice. They would feel excluded. They might not say anything, because neither of them was the type to complain openly, but the silence would be worse.
Which meant he would either have to explain himself to them, or take all three of them out. And taking all three of them out today, while running between the bakery delivery, the housing agent, and the squad meeting, was simply not practical.
Dexter was conflicted.
Mira noticed.
Her brow furrowed and the excitement in her eyes began to dim.
"It’s fine if you don’t want to take me out," she said quietly.
Dexter saw her eyes.
The excitement and hope that had been building there and the anticipation of finally leaving this house flickered and faded like a candle in the wind.
And he knew exactly what she was thinking.
She thought he was embarrassed.
She thought he didn’t want to be seen in public with a cripple. A woman in a wheelchair who couldn’t walk. A broken wife who would draw stares and whispers and pity from strangers on the street.
She thought he was ashamed of her.
Dexter’s chest tightened.
"No," he said quickly. "You don’t understand. That’s not it at all."
Mira looked at him. The doubt in her crimson eyes was painful to see.
"If I take you out," Dexter said, "it means I’m being favorable to only you. And I would have to take all three of you out. At the same time. Otherwise it wouldn’t be fair."
He paused, rubbing the back of his neck.
"But what I’m doing today involves delivering meals to the bakery, meeting with the heroes I fought alongside during the outbreak, and visiting a housing company. I’ll be moving between locations. I won’t have the time to properly look after the three of you while I’m running around. And I can’t just leave you somewhere while I handle business."
Mira’s eyes changed as the doubt and slight guarded hurt faded as she understood. Her eyes finally brightening.
She was about to speak when Dexter held up a hand.
