Chapter 195: 195 | Anger (2)

Dexter didn’t dodge. Instead, he left his back vulnerable as the attack swooshed towards him.

At that moment, the black stud earring suddenly exploded outward from Dexter’s body, expanding to cover both him and Marcus in a transparent, dome-shaped barrier.

At that split second, a silver arc of sword energy collided with the barrier with a cataclysmic force.

"DING!"

A massive shockwave exploded out in an astonishing burst.

The entire office shook violently as glass shattered and every window in the room exploded!

Even the walls cracked and the ceiling panels also shattered to smithereens!

"Crack!"

The barrier had mutiple cracks on it but it actually didn’t explode.

Dexter slowly turned around.

Marcus still dangled from his left hand, choking and gasping and crying, barely able to speak but Dexter barely noticed as his entire attention was focused on the figure standing in the doorway of the office.

The person was a middle-aged who looked his fifties it maybe even older.

It was difficult to tell because his face carried the particular agelessness of a high-level her.

His hair was pure white, cropped short and swept back from a forehead. There was also a matching white beard covered his jaw which was trimmed neatly.

The man wore an expensive blue suit that proved he had money but the most astonishing part was that in his left hand was a long silver sword.

The man’s brow was furrowed slightly as his eyes stared at Dexter.

Dexter’s face turned serious as his gaze landed on him.

’Ultra Realm.’

He immediately knew the cultivation level of the man. The attack he had launched had been reduced to Peak Superhuman levels, thinking it was enough to deal with Dexter which was why he used the strength of a peak realm Super Human.

However, he had been very wrong. Nit only had Dexter survived, he had survived with indifference!

Dexter turned around and stared at the man with an expressionless gaze and then suddenly smirked.

"You truly want him to die, don’t you?"

The middle-aged man didn’t say anything as he moved his gaze from Dexter to Marcus, ehi was still dangling and choking from Dexter’s grip.

After a while, he suddenly spoke.

"You do know, i possess the power to make you stay here forever if I wish."

His said in a casual tone as thought he wasn’t bothered that his employee was on the verge of death.

"Even if I give you the one million back or even 100 million, I can make sure you never leave this building."

Dexter blinked at the man’s voice but then suddenly, he chuckled drily.

"You can try,"

Then he tilted his head, his violet-tinged eyes meeting the old man’s dark gaze.

"But what do you think killing an Ashford son would do to your company? Most especially you..."

Dexter’s grin widened as he said this.

Dexter Ashford was, by legal definition, the firstborn son of the Ashford family. Disowned or not, cast out or not.

He still bore the Ashford name.

Killing him would would definitely benefit the Ashford family but the Ashford family would definitely not let it down especially not in public.

The company would definitely die and so would he, like literally!

If it became known that a real estate company had murdered an Ashford son, even a disowned one, the political fallout would be significant.

The delicate web of business relationships that Harvest Homes depended on would be damaged.

The old man stared at Dexter for a long time.

Silence filled the ruined office.

"What do you want?" the old man asked.

Dexter chuckled.

"I want my two million credits back." He paused. "With interest."

He raised Marcus slightly, adjusting his grip.

Marcus’s eyes went wide. He tried to speak to explain that it wasn’t two million credits personally. But Dexter’s grip tightened, crushing the words back down his throat before they could form.

The old man glanced at Marcus. Then at Dexter.

Then he chuckled.

"Even if I give you the two million," the old man said, "do you think you would leave here intact?"

He paused, letting the question settle.

"Although I might not be able to kill you, the Ashford family won’t blame me if I cripple you. Disownment works both ways, boy. They discarded you. That means you have no protection."

His dark eyes narrowed.

"Crippled and useless wives, crippled husband. Isn’t that fitting?"

He smiled. It was not a kind smile.

"A few people were quite jealous that you managed to snag three beauties. However, they are crippled and they are stupid. And now you will be crippled and useless along with them."

He tilted his head.

"I know what the headlines will say tomorrow."

Dexter was silent.

His face turned blank and expressionless.

’Useless.’

’Crippled.’

’Stupid.’

’My wives.’

"Bang!"

Something broke inside him.

Something even Dexter didn’t understand.

The old man had insulted him. That was fine. Dexter had been insulted his entire life, a bastard and even a slave with an f rank talent.

He had heard every variation, every iteration, every creative combination of contempt that the human vocabulary could produce and he was alredy quite used to it.

But the old man had not stopped at insulting him, he had insulted his wives.

Mira who had sworn a Death God oath to honor any request Dexter made, Selene who had fallen asleep on his chest because she needed heat and Lyra who had kissed his cheek because he gave her chips.

’Useless.’

’Crippled.’

’Mute.’

’Blind.’

The words echoed in his mind, bouncing off the walls of his consciousness, growing louder and louder as time passed.

Dexter’s eyes changed drastically.

One moment they were their natural dark brown. The next moment, they were violet.

A strange pressure began to radiate from his body as the temperature in the office rose rapidly

Even the air shimmered as the dust motes suspended in the air began to glow faintly by the heat that was pouring from Dexter’s skin.

The old man’s expression changed.

"What are you..."

Dexter’s lips curled into a cold smile.

"Flame Demon Transformation!"
