Investing In My Two Crippled Wives Gets Me 100X More Returns
Chapter 39: Move That Tree.Ethan stood there completely baffled when he read through these entries. The second layer wasn’t like something he had expected.
’Wait... Why is this a little too good? I got extra stamina, less mana required, I can use my mana to coat my sword, I got a new technique... This is absurd.’ He said inwardly as he covered his mouth with his palm.
He remained standing there in complete confusion until he finally dropped down onto the couch once again. His body was still quite strained because of the battle against the orcs.
He slowly extended his hand forward, looked at his palm as he clenched it into a fist. "I’m glad that I took initiative there because if I hadn’t, a lot of people might have lost their lives. Same goes for my wives and me." He took a small pause before continuing. "But I understand that I had put myself in danger once again, and just a day later after I promised them that I won’t do something like that again."
A sigh escaped through his mouth; he slowly started rubbing his temple before continuing. "I have to make sure to never cause any trouble for them or for myself, and for that I have to start training."
He pushed himself up, walked to the bedroom, and looked at Isolde and Athena once. "I would like to start working on my body soon."
Athena studied him; she noticed the glow in Ethan’s eyes, which made her sure that he wasn’t trying to fluke.
A smile crept onto her lips as she muttered. "Let’s move outside then."
Ethan grabbed the handles of the wheelchair and took her outside, and his other hand grabbed Isolde’s hand as he helped her out too.
When they reached outside, Athena looked at him, and then looked at a huge tree that was broken because of the rampage of orcs. There were multiple such colossal hundred-meter trees.
"Try to lift them. If you can’t, then keep on working until you can."
Ethan looked at the tree, his throat tightening as he gulped. ’I’m going to regret agreeing to this... but I don’t have any other choice either.’
He stepped closer, his legs heavy, each movement dragging as if the weight of exhaustion clung to him. His palms pressed against the rough bark, but the tree didn’t budge.
His muscles strained, veins bulging, sweat dripping down his forehead. He gritted his teeth, forcing his body to push harder, but it was useless; the tree stood unmoved, mocking his effort.
Frustration burned inside him. He closed his eyes, drawing on the crimson mana that pulsed faintly within his core. Slowly, he circled it outward, letting it flow into his arms, coating his hands in a faint glow.
The energy shimmered against his skin, sharp and unstable, but he pressed on. He pushed again, his fingers digging into the bark, mana surging through him. But still nothing happened; the tree didn’t even budge.
His breath grew ragged, his chest heaving. ’Fuck!! This thing is so frustrating. I’m trying my best, but this tree is just so sturdy that it’s not even moving a single goddamn centimeter.’
He clenched his jaw, closed his eyes for a brief second as his mana circulated through his meridians at a rapid pace. The crimson glow intensified until it felt like it was burning with determination. He tried again, and again, each attempt leaving his muscles screaming, his body trembling.

Hours passed. His arms shook violently, his vision blurred, but he refused to give up. Persistence was all he had left. He pressed his palms against the tree one final time, crimson mana surging violently through his veins, coating his hands in a dense aura.
The ground trembled faintly. The bark groaned.
Ethan’s eyes widened as the tree shuddered, its massive frame shaking under his relentless effort. His lips curled into a faint, exhausted grin. Finally...
He collapsed to his knees, sweat dripping, his body drained. But the sight of the tree shaking filled him with a strange satisfaction. He had spent hours doing this; he had struggled, failed, and finally, at last, he had forced it to move.
"YES!! I DID IT!! FINALLY!!" He shouted out loud as he shot both his arms up in the air; his voice was filled with tiredness, but still excitement followed along.
Athena and Isolde, who were stationed near the house, looked at Ethan, who was clearly filled with joy even though his body seemed to be in pain, clothes were ragged and filled with sweat.
Isolde, although she couldn’t see him with her eyes, his excited voice was enough to make a soft smile appear on her lips. "He’s happy, and that’s a positive thing. He spent hours doing something which would make a beginner quit in just the first few minutes."
Athena had managed to maintain her usual calm; her stern expression remained intact until she heard Ethan. Her lips managed to spare a faint smile as she replied to Isolde. "You’re correct. Building physicality isn’t easy, and I seriously didn’t expect him to stay determined for this long because, in the end, the task I had given him was impossible to begin with."
"But now we know what we are dealing with. Easier tasks aren’t built for him; he is persistent, a typical hard worker." She tried her best not to get impressed, but in the end, such words slipped from her tongue.
Ethan, who was still standing next to the trees, now had his arms limping at his sides. His chest rose and fell in heavy rhythm. Sweat dripped from his temple to cheek, and fell over the dirt. His body screamed in pain; his muscles were begging him to rest, but still his adrenaline didn’t let him think straight.
He finally allowed himself to sit on the tree’s trunk; he stared at the colossal tree. His palms still burned faintly from the crimson mana he had poured into them, but soon it all settled when the mana travelled back into his core.
A weak yet tired smile appeared on his face as he muttered under his breath. "I actually did it... I moved it!! I don’t care if it was just a little shake; moving something this big is definitely a feat in its own. I just have to continue doing this, and I’ll reach at least D-Rank to C-Rank in physicality by the end of the month."
A/N: I’m going to try and do 4 more, 6 in total... give some power stones and golden tickets for motivation.
