Chapter 668: Chapter 621: Fortune or Misfortune
Captured by humans and locked away in a sunless cage, its resentment ran deep. Now that it could see the light of day again, eating human flesh and drinking human blood was the best form of revenge.
Suddenly, the sound of rolling Celestial Thunder reached the Demon’s ears, and it froze.
’Can I return to the Yaoling Mountain Range?’ It could hardly believe it. The Yaoling Mountain Range was such a beautiful place, teeming with Demon Fiends and rich with nature’s spiritual energy. How it missed that place—missed it more than anything.
’King of the Snake Clan? We’re not allowed to keep killing humans?’ the Demon muttered to itself, then grew furious. ’Utter nonsense! It wasn’t you who opened the gates of the Demon Prison. It was clearly the Supreme Monarch of the Weasel clan who saved us!’
Other Demons might not have known who opened the prison gates, but this one did. It was a Weasel that had become a Demon, one that had already cultivated to the Peak second Rank.
If it hadn’t been captured and imprisoned by humans, it might have reached Rank Three of Enlightenment long ago.
’That damnable King of the Snake Clan, trying to steal our Monarch’s credit!’ The Yellow Rat Spirit was furious. It couldn’t figure out what exactly had happened, but as a mere Rank Two Demon, there was little it could do about it anyway.
’As long as someone can get me out of Wencheng and back to the Yaoling Mountain Range, that’s all that matters.’
The Yellow Rat Spirit looked at the middle-aged woman it held suspended in the air, a woman writhing in agony and terror. It clicked its tongue and sneered, "Consider yourself lucky. You’ll be the last human I kill before I leave this society. Now, let me have a proper taste of your blood."
"No, no, please let me go!" The woman’s face was flushed a deep crimson, her neck caught in its grip. She was like a pitiful slip of paper, buffeted and ravaged by a storm.
"I’m a very reasonable Demon. If you don’t want me to taste your blood, then your child can take your place."
As it spoke, the Yellow Rat Spirit’s greedy gaze shifted toward a closet, and a cruel smile spread across its face.
The woman’s soul nearly left her body. ’It found him! It knew all along that my child was hiding in the closet!’
"No, no, don’t hurt my child! You can drink my blood, drink all of it, just please don’t hurt my child!"
The Yellow Rat Spirit roared with laughter. "Too late." It tossed the woman aside like a piece of garbage. She slammed into the wall with a sickening thud, feeling as if every bone in her body had shattered. Her mouth fell open as she coughed up blood again and again.
The woman was nearly faint with pain, but when she caught sight of the Yellow Rat Spirit stalking toward the closet, a vicious light in its eyes, she cried out weakly, "Demon, don’t hurt my child! Take me instead!"
The Yellow Rat Spirit sneered. "How could your blood ever compare to that of a three- or four-year-old child? The blood of a child is the most delicious beverage in the world."
"You animal! You monster! Don’t hurt my child!" The woman struggled to get up and rush forward, but her body simply wouldn’t obey.
"Mama, Mama, save me!"
An innocent little girl was snatched up by a large claw, held like a baby chick. When she came face-to-face with the hideous Yellow Rat Spirit, she burst into terrified wails.
"My baby! My child! Won’t somebody please save my child?! Demon, you’d even kill a three-year-old... May you die a horrible death!"
As if tapping into some hidden reserve of strength, the woman shot to her feet and charged at the Yellow Rat Spirit.
"Hmph. Pathetic human. You don’t know what’s good for you. Die!" With a wave of its hand, the Yellow Rat Spirit summoned a powerful gust of wind that sent the woman slamming against the wall one last time. She never got up again; the spark of life was quietly extinguished.
"Mama, Mama...!" The little girl’s eyes flew wide, her mouth hung open, and tears streamed down her face. ’Is Mama dead?’
The Yellow Rat Spirit decided not to waste any more time. It cackled, "Come now, sweetheart. Let your Uncle Demon drink your blood, and then you can go find your mama."
Hearing this, the little girl was so frightened she forgot to cry, staring blankly at the Yellow Rat Spirit.
Just as the little girl’s life hung by a thread...!
WHOOSH...!
The Yellow Rat Spirit sensed a ripple in the space behind it as a figure suddenly materialized.
The Yellow Rat Spirit spun around to see a man with refined features. But this man exuded the terrifying aura of the Snake King. A wave of panic washed over it, and it hastily bowed. "This lowly Yellow Rat Spirit greets the Lord Snake King."
’Another Weasel?’ The moment Tu Xiao’an appeared, he saw it: a Weasel, standing upright on its hind legs. It was tall and powerfully built, nearly two meters in height and covered in yellow fur. In one of its claws, it held a pale, adorable little girl. The creature’s appearance was utterly ferocious and terrifying.
"Were my words not clear enough?" Tu Xiao’an’s gaze swept the room. "You are forbidden to slaughter humans." He saw a middle-aged man lying in a pool of blood and a woman collapsed in the corner, both having met violent ends. And the little girl in the Yellow Rat Spirit’s grasp was in imminent danger.
This was a family of three, and now both parents were dead.
Fury ignited within Tu Xiao’an. He fixed his gaze, now laced with killing intent, upon the Yellow Rat Spirit and demanded an explanation.
The Yellow Rat Spirit instantly felt a deadly, suffocating pressure. ’Terrifying,’ it thought. ’This transformed Snake King could probably kill me without even lifting a finger.’ It hurriedly explained, "Lord Snake King, I was just thinking... since I have to leave anyway, I might as well drink this little girl’s blood before I go. After all, once I’m back in the Yaoling Mountain Range, I’m afraid I won’t be able to taste such delicious blood anymore."
As it spoke, the Yellow Rat Spirit even shot Tu Xiao’an a knowing look.
"Excellent. Just excellent," Tu Xiao’an said, a smile touching his lips. But even as he smiled, his deep, dark eyes turned incomparably cold.
