Ye Fan didn’t stay long at Heavenly Peak Mountain. He stood there observing everything around him, and once it seemed he had grasped everything, he left the mountain.
He didn’t return to Earth but went directly to the celestial city of Pan Gu secret realm, where he met Sang Yuan, who detailed the entire arrangement within the secret realm to him in the council hall.
"Master, I’ve set up scouts throughout Pan Gu secret realm as per your instructions, to constantly monitor energy shifts. Once there’s any sign of a heavenly calamity, you’ll be notified immediately, and I will inform you at the first moment!" Sang Yuan spoke cautiously.
Ye Fan said, "Your arrangement satisfies me, but you must understand, the power of a heavenly calamity is immense. Once it occurs, I’m afraid those cultivators around you may not be able to deliver the message back, perhaps even before they are no more than shadows."
"The master is absolutely right, I will be cautious." Sang Yuan also appeared a bit helpless, saying, "Regarding these matters, I can only try my best to assist the master; I might not be able to help you much."
Ye Fan walked over, his hand resting on Sang Yuan’s chin, Sang Yuan also felt embarrassed, different from her usual shrewd and capable image.
Ye Fan said, "Come, I’ll take you to a place!"
After saying this, Sang Yuan felt the scenery around her shift, and she found herself crossing the boundaries of time and space, arriving in a place like an illusion.
"Master, where is this place?" Sang Yuan asked, somewhat confused.
Ye Fan shook his head, "I don’t know exactly where this is either, but from what I understand, this should be a place after the heavenly calamity and the events occurring here are the impacts brought by that calamity."
"Is the master calculating the damage caused by the heavenly calamity?" Sang Yuan closed her eyes, trying to ascertain her exact location but found it futile.
Ye Fan said, "You don’t need to detect anything, this place is hidden away by Pan Gu and Fu Xi and others. It’s merely a ruin formed after the last heavenly calamity!"
Sang Yuan’s body trembled; she finally realized this place was not an imagined illusion but an actual ruin where the calamity occurred.
Sang Yuan observed everything around her and realized everything was scorched earth, vastly more desolate than any barren areas within the Pan Gu secret realm. Not only was life absent here, but even the elements and substances composing life forms were nonexistent, rendering life birth impossible, in conditions harsher than the void itself.
"The real disaster of the heavenly calamity lies in the destruction of all life elements, rendering life impossible, altering the energy structure across the universe. It isn’t good news for me—this means the universe’s energy will be rewritten. That’s likely why Pan Gu and Fu Xi seek to rely on my strength; knowing that their power can’t surpass the universe’s energy, and this calamity can alter the universe’s energy composition, they can’t change it with their strength alone!" Ye Fan said.
Sang Yuan was very curious, "But the master’s power seems unable to reach such a critical threshold. The universe’s force is far too strong... can the master surpass such power?"
Ye Fan waved his hand, the surrounding scenes instantly restored to normal, with Ye Fan and Sang Yuan back in the Pan Gu secret realm, not in the council hall now but in the Hundred Immortals Building.
Inside the Hundred Immortals Building was only Ping Han; Wu Ding returned to the Tianxuan Sect, as Ye Fan granted her authority to contact the seven sects for strategies against the calamity.
When Ping Han saw Ye Fan, it was as if she saw a deity; she had no resistance against Ye Fan. She walked over in small steps, knelt before him, and bowed her head.
Ye Fan continued speaking to Sang Yuan, "I seem to understand something now. As long as I can combat the calamity, I can defeat Pan Gu and Fu Xi. So for them, it’s a tough choice—either kill me and watch the calamity unfold, unable to counter it, or watch me rise and defeat the calamity, then they will be killed by me... it seems there’s no third path to choose."
Sang Yuan nodded, "Congratulations, master, at least everything will be in your hands!"
With that, Sang Yuan also knelt before Ye Fan, showing great respect.
Ye Fan said, "Wrong. The real dominion isn’t mine but the force of the calamity. With the upper-layer creator’s power, everything controls the universe’s energy. I’m unqualified to challenge those beings. As I gain power, I realize, if I wish to face the calamity, I must pin hope on the upper-layer creator’s mercy on life. If they intend to annihilate humanity, I find myself powerless against such calamity!"
Sang Yuan felt Ye Fan’s worry, yet she couldn’t speak, expressing her support through her own methods.
What Ye Fan felt was also a gentleness from both Ping Han and Sang Yuan.
"As the calamity approaches, my worries deepen; I understand most times, the universal energy changes not by my subjective will, but that doesn’t mean I can’t make my own reasonable choices..." Ye Fan said, "In the universe, my power has formally begun to contend with those mighty creators, yet facing the calamity, I’m still too insignificant; even Pan Gu and Fu Xi seem to notice this crisis, so they are also trying to find methods to hide their cultivation after the calamity and find ways to avoid being killed by me!"
Sang Yuan raised her head to look at Ye Fan, "Congratulations, master, then... um."
Ye Fan did not let Sang Yuan continue, he didn’t need to hear her opinions.
His choice to come here wasn’t to listen to opinions, but to attain a certain peace within himself. Regardless of Sang Yuan or Ping Han, they were merely his remedies, needed after his hardships, to restore inner peace.
"Rise, come with me inside. Now I don’t want to think about the calamity at all. I just want to be calm as an ordinary person, experiencing this moment’s peace!" Ye Fan said.
