Journey to Become the Zenith

Chapter 327: The Sealed Battlefield

The Sealed Battlefield

"I’m losing my patience."

Although his face remained calm, Victor could already feel the violent mana inside his body becoming unstable.

The power he had gained by consuming the young dragon’s heart would not last forever.

The backlash was approaching.

He wanted this battle finished before that happened.

Alibaba carefully studied Victor’s expression.

For centuries he had observed countless humans.

Reading expressions had become second nature to him.

Victor looked impatient.

But beneath that impatience...

There was urgency.

Alibaba suddenly understood.

A dry laugh escaped his mouth.

"Hehehe..."

"So that’s how it is..."

"When we fought months ago..."

"You were nowhere near this powerful."

"You forced your strength to increase."

His finger slowly pointed toward Victor.

"You consumed the young dragon’s heart."

"The dungeon core."

"Power like that always comes with a price."

"There must be side effects."

"You have a time limit."

"If I simply delay this battle..."

"...then victory will belong to me."

Victor looked at him with complete indifference.

"So?"

Alibaba tilted his skull.

"So..."

"I can simply wait."

The moment those words left his mouth, mana gathered beneath his feet.

He attempted to activate a teleportation spell.

Nothing happened.

His emerald flames flickered.

He immediately tried again.

Still nothing.

Only then did he notice the countless magical symbols spread across the battlefield beneath them.

His empty eye sockets widened.

Victor smirked.

"I already knew you would try to escape."

"Since the beginning of this fight..."

"I’ve been preparing this magic circle."

"You never noticed."

Victor slowly spun the Death Scythe once before pointing it toward the ground.

"Why do you think I kept spinning my scythe?"

"You thought I was doing it just to look cool?"

"For someone over a thousand years old..."

"...you’re pretty dumb."

Alibaba immediately recalled every movement Victor had made since the battle began.

Each swing.

Each step.

Each spin.

None of them had been meaningless.

Victor hadn’t simply been fighting.

He had been constructing an enormous magic circle while battling.

Alibaba silently clenched his skeletal fingers.

He had underestimated Victor from the very beginning.

Victor looked directly into the emerald flames burning inside Alibaba’s skull.

"In this magic circle..."

"Every spell related to spatial interference is sealed."

"So there’s no escaping."

"You have only two choices."

"Use your strongest spell..."

"...or die where you stand."

Victor slowly raised the Death Scythe.

"I’m giving you until the count of five."

"When I finish counting..."

"...I’ll erase your existence."

The battlefield remained completely silent.

Far away, everyone on the city walls could only see Victor pointing his weapon at Alibaba.

No one knew what had just been said.

No one knew that Alibaba’s escape had already been completely cut off.

Only the two of them understood.

Only the two of them knew...

That the true final battle had already begun.

Alibaba’s mind raced faster than it ever had in the thousands of years since he had become a necromancer.

One...

Victor’s calm voice echoed across the empty battlefield.

"There has to be a way..."

Alibaba searched desperately through every spell, every ritual, every forbidden technique he had accumulated over centuries.

Nothing.

Two...

The magic circle beneath them continued to glow with an ancient radiance.

Invisible ripples spread across the earth like an enormous web, sealing every fluctuation of spatial mana.

Alibaba secretly attempted another teleportation spell.

"[Void Crossing]."

Nothing happened.

The spell collapsed before it could even form.

Victor merely watched with an amused smile.

"You still don’t understand."

"I’ve already cut off every path you could escape through."

Three...

Alibaba immediately abandoned teleportation.

Instead, dozens of magic circles appeared around him.

"[Bone Spear Barrage]."

Thousands of black bone spears erupted into existence before raining toward Victor from every direction.

Victor didn’t even move.

He simply lifted one hand.

"[Abyss Curtain]."

Darkness spread like liquid ink across the sky.

Every incoming spear disappeared into the black veil without making a sound.

Not shattered.

Not deflected.

Simply swallowed.

The battlefield fell silent once more.

Alibaba narrowed his eyes.

Another spell followed immediately.

"[Gravefire Storm]."

Green flames erupted from beneath the earth, transforming into hundreds of ghostly dragons that charged toward Victor.

Victor smiled.

"So predictable."

He calmly traced a symbol through the air.

"[Twilight Mirror]."

A wall of black crystal appeared before him.

The green dragons slammed into its surface—

Only to rebound in the opposite direction.

The reflected flames rushed straight back toward Alibaba.

The necromancer waved his skeletal hand.

"[Death Mist]."

Cold gray mist consumed the returning flames before they reached him.

The collision shook the battlefield.

Even from the city walls, everyone could see explosions of green fire and black darkness erupting one after another.

Ruby covered her mouth.

"They’re exchanging spells..."

Natalia nodded.

"I’ve never seen magic like this..."

Max frowned.

"...Neither have I."

Every collision distorted the surrounding air.

The clouds overhead churned violently.

The ground cracked further with every impact.

Yet neither Victor nor Alibaba had moved more than a few steps.

They were fighting with knowledge...

With experience...

With absolute precision.

Victor slowly walked forward.

Each step echoed across the battlefield.

Alibaba immediately formed another series of seals.

"[Soul Chains]."

Hundreds of translucent chains burst from the shadows beneath Victor’s feet.

Instead of dodging, Victor casually swung the Death Scythe.

"[Night Severance]."

A crescent wave of compressed darkness expanded outward.

Every chain shattered before reaching him.

Victor didn’t even slow down.

Alibaba immediately cast another spell.

"[Frozen Coffin]."

Gigantic pillars of ice erupted around Victor before instantly sealing together into a massive crystal prison.

Victor calmly looked around.

"...Too slow."

He placed one hand against the icy wall.

"[Black Pulse]."

Boom!

Dark shockwaves erupted from his palm.

The entire Frozen Coffin exploded into countless glittering fragments.

Before the ice had even fallen...

Alibaba had already finished another chant.

"[Cataclysm Rain]."

The sky darkened.

Thousands of black crystal lances descended from above like divine punishment.

Victor finally stopped walking.

A grin slowly spread across his face.

"Now that’s better."

He spun the Death Scythe once.

The movement looked effortless.

Yet circles of black mana expanded around him.

"[Abyss Dominion]."
