Journey to Become the Zenith

Chapter 382: The Goddesses’ Invitation (Part 4)

The Goddesses’ Invitation (Part 4)

This voice carried the calm dignity of someone who had witnessed countless ages pass.

"So..."

"That little girl I once guided became the Goddess of Justice."

"I suppose..."

"Even after all these years..."

"She still couldn’t let go of her convictions."

Victor remained perfectly still.

From the outside...

Nothing about his expression changed.

But inwardly...

He couldn’t help feeling speechless.

One recognizes the Dragon War Goddess...

The other speaks of the Goddess of Justice as though she were once a child.

Just who were these people before becoming souls inside me...?

He resisted the urge to ask aloud.

Instead, he maintained his composure.

Ruby noticed his thoughtful expression.

"Lord Victor?"

He smiled faintly.

"I’m listening."

She relaxed slightly.

Victor, however, silently addressed the two mysterious voices.

All right...

Now explain something.

How exactly do the two of you know these Goddesses?

Azriel laughed.

"You’ll find out eventually."

The second voice remained silent.

Victor almost sighed.

As unhelpful as ever...

He returned his attention to the meeting hall.

Ruby had finally released his hands, though her cheeks carried the faintest hint of pink after realizing she had been holding them the entire time.

Natalia had also risen to her feet.

Victor looked at both women before speaking calmly.

"So..."

"The Dragon War Goddess Kia wishes to meet me."

"And the Goddess of Justice Jenna wishes the same."

Both Holy Maidens nodded together.

"Yes."

Victor lightly tapped the table with a finger.

"I assume neither of them explained why."

Ruby smiled apologetically.

"No."

"The Goddess only instructed me to invite you."

Natalia nodded.

"My Goddess gave me the same instruction."

Victor let out a soft chuckle.

"So even you don’t know the reason."

"I’m afraid not," Ruby admitted.

"The only thing we were told..."

"...was that this matter cannot be discussed through us."

"It must be spoken directly."

Silence settled over the room.

Max looked toward Victor.

"Well?"

"What do you think?"

Victor didn’t answer immediately.

Instead, he walked toward the window once more.

Outside...

The rebuilding of Fantom City continued.

Workers repaired roads.

Children laughed in the streets.

Life had begun returning to normal.

He quietly folded his arms.

Two Goddesses...

An ancient history hidden from mankind...

Another continent...

And now a personal invitation.

It seems...

The more I uncover...

The larger this world becomes.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

He turned back toward the three visitors.

"I’ll accept the invitation."

Ruby’s eyes immediately brightened.

"Really?"

Victor nodded.

"I’ve never ignored an opportunity to learn the truth."

Natalia’s beautiful face softened with visible relief.

"Thank you, Lord Victor."

Max laughed heartily.

"Hahaha!"

"I had a feeling you’d say that."

Victor smiled.

"I do have one condition."

The three looked at him.

"I’ll visit after I finish arranging a few matters within Fantom City."

"I won’t abandon my responsibilities halfway."

Ruby nodded without hesitation.

"That is perfectly acceptable."

Natalia smiled gently.

"Our Goddesses said you would decide the timing yourself."

Victor raised an eyebrow.

"They said that?"

"Yes."

"They only asked that, when you are ready..."

"...you come willingly."

Victor gave a small nod.

"In that case..."

"I won’t keep them waiting for long."

Relief spread across both Holy Maidens’ faces.

Their mission...

Had finally been accomplished.

The meeting hall, once filled with curiosity and uncertainty, gradually returned to a calm silence as the conversation drew to its natural conclusion.

After Victor agreed to visit both temples, a sense of relief visibly washed over Ruby and Natalia.

The tension that had filled the meeting hall gradually eased.

Both Holy Maidens exchanged genuine smiles.

Inside Victor’s mind...

Two familiar voices echoed almost at the same time.

"Hah... good decision."

Azriel let out a satisfied laugh.

"You should go and meet little Kia."

"I’m actually curious how that crybaby ended up becoming the Dragon War Goddess."

The second voice spoke more calmly.

"And I wish to see Jenna once again."

Victor remained expressionless on the outside, but inwardly his curiosity only deepened.

These two...

Just who were they?

He finally decided to ask the question that had been bothering him.

So you’re telling me...

The Dragon War Goddess Kia and the Goddess of Justice Jenna...

Were once humans you personally knew?

There was a brief silence.

Azriel answered first.

"That’s right."

Victor’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Gods... were once mortals?

That realization overturned everything he had assumed.

Until now, he had believed Gods were eternal beings born with divine authority.

The possibility that a mortal could ascend to godhood had never crossed his mind.

Then again...

Considering the souls residing within him...

Perhaps it shouldn’t have surprised him.

Many of his previous incarnations possessed power that rivaled—or even surpassed—the divine.

Azriel laughed again.

"I doubt Kia defeated the previous War God herself."

"Knowing her..."

"She was probably forced to inherit the title."

"I can’t imagine that little crybaby willingly choosing endless battles."

His laughter grew louder.

"If you visit her temple..."

"Ask her."

"I really want to know how she became the Dragon War Goddess."

Victor couldn’t help smiling faintly.

You really enjoy teasing her.

"Of course."

Azriel sounded completely unapologetic.

"Some habits never change."

Victor silently shook his head before turning his attention toward the second voice.

And you...?

You still haven’t properly introduced yourself.

There was a short pause before the calm voice finally answered.

"My name..."

"Was Hudson."

Victor quietly memorized it.

Hudson continued.

"Regarding Jenna..."

"She was my adopted daughter."

Victor’s golden eyes flickered.

Your daughter...?

"I found her when she was still a child."

"I raised her."

"I taught her everything I knew."

His usually composed voice carried unmistakable warmth.

"Unlike Azriel..."

"I have no doubt."

"If Jenna wished to become a Goddess..."

"She possessed more than enough talent to defeat one and inherit the divine title."

Victor could hear the pride in Hudson’s voice.

Not arrogance...

But the confidence of a father who deeply believed in his daughter.

"As for whether you should visit her..."

Hudson spoke gently.

"That decision belongs to you."

"I won’t influence it."
