Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 2649: Don’t Seek Death YourselfUndoubtedly, these few people chose to cooperate. The Bald Head was a stranded player, unrelated to the instance of the National Treasure. He only happened to team up with a few people to try and gain some benefits. However, he did provide some value by using his experience to corroborate the truthfulness of the others’ statements.
The quest for the Offensive Faction overlaps with the Defender Camp to some extent. They also need to find the National Treasure, not to help Lian Qingkong, but to allow other forces to take the place.
This is not surprising. If the Offensive Faction’s mission was simply to stop the Defender Camp, they wouldn’t have allowed Gong Shu to live.
Among these people, the old man and the female player have just arrived, while another male player is a stranded player from the Offensive Faction. His purpose is clear, to prevent anyone from passing the level.
The female player, however, hopes to find more clues through the people who came to look for Gong Shu.
As for the unlucky fellow who got caught, he’s part of the Defender Camp and has been here for more than half a month. His way of finding Gong Shu was quite convoluted. He first found a distant relative of Dou Hui, and only after fruitless questioning did he obtain the insignificant clue about Gong Shu.
The library has already collapsed. Several people sat dejectedly in a small restaurant nearby, neither daring to run nor fight. After all, Xu Huo didn’t even let the Bald Head go, let alone the others.
"Mr. Gong, are you hungry? What would you like to eat?" Xu Huo asked the owner for a menu.
"Just ask what you want. I haven’t been back for several days. I need to go back and check on the kids," Gong Shu said wearily.
Xu Huo glanced at the others. The female player reacted quickly and immediately said to Gong Shu, "We were not hospitable a few days ago, and our attitude was not good. We were just anxious about not being able to pass the level. Compared to dying in a foreign land, of course, we’d rather go home... Mister, the player who caught you is already dead. I apologize on his behalf. You haven’t had a proper meal these days. Why not restore some energy, so the kids won’t worry when you return."
Gong Shu seemed a bit touched and slowly ordered two dishes from the owner. Xu Huo added a few more dishes and invited them to eat together.
Actually, these people had already asked Gong Shu before, and they even wanted him to write down the fake genealogy and everything about the Dou Family.
However, Gong Shu was old, and it had been so long since those events. It would be strange if he remembered clearly. So, he lied that there might be some preserved materials in the library.
In fact, there was nothing in the library. Those tattered books were pieced together from various places. The original books were stolen long ago.
Gong Shu simply didn’t want to die in front of the kids. He harbored a death wish, so he didn’t resist at all. It was only because these players still had hope that they didn’t kill him.
"The genealogy is really lost. Even if you have it, you can’t find anyone." Gong Shu said, picking up some food, "Those who were close to the Dou Family back then have either died or fled. Twenty years have passed. It’s unclear whether any of them are still alive. How could it be possible to find them?"
"That’s our problem," the unlucky fellow said, "You just write."
Gong Shu didn’t say much more and nodded silently.
During the meal, six people at the table, five ate as if chewing wax. Afterward, they returned to the orphanage.
The children were thrilled to see Gong Shu return. Neighbors living nearby bravely came over to help handle the fresh vegetables and fruits Xu Huo had brought.
With people around, Gong Shu finally shed his moribund demeanor and took the initiative to talk to Xu Huo about the genealogy compilation.
Actually, most of the people inside were loosely connected, with families and names provided by the Dou Family—some too powerful to associate with without consent. Small families and households were useless to cling to, and it was impossible for Gong Shu to manage the nuances alone.
Gong Shu still remembered some of these people. Many of the "relatives" found from the list died in the war. When Dou Hui first escaped, someone went to the ancestral hall to take the genealogy. Although they knew some people had no real connection with the Dou Family, they still vented their anger and killed. Almost everyone they could find was slaughtered.
Only those scattered in other countries or those who fled in advance managed to survive.
"Are there descendants of the Gao Family living in other countries?" Xu Huo paused, "Yongta or Moon Corner?"
"Both," Gong Shu replied, "I remember this clearly. One family was still an official in Moon Corner. I asked the Dou Family if writing others in would cause trouble, but they said they were legitimate relatives, not false connections."
"Who knows whether it’s true. I wrote whatever they said."
Genuine relatives could also be Dou Family’s kin. After Dou Hui escaped and returned, he went to neighboring countries, likely attempting to rise again.
Either way, it’s a clue.
Xu Huo asked him to recall everything about the Dou Family as much as possible, while he went outside to deal with those people secretly plotting to take him down.
Walking out of the room, he looked at them with a cynical smile, "Have you figured it out? How are you planning to kill me?"
The several people exchanged glances and tacitly widened their distance, half-surrounding Xu Huo in front.
Xu Huo glanced at the unlucky fellow who was quietly stepping back, "There’s a smart one here."
The unlucky fellow immediately said, "I’m in the same camp as you. We can completely cooperate, no need for life and death struggle!"
"You’re mistaken about one thing: it’s you dead, I live," Xu Huo said, rubbing the Bone Ring on his finger, "I’m not killing you because you have your uses. Don’t court death."
The unlucky fellow’s expression was serious, but his gaze shifted several times. To be honest, Xu Huo didn’t seem very strong. Even his Evolution Rate wasn’t outstanding among Rank-B players. Of course, it couldn’t be ruled out that he used props as cover, but that was unnecessary. The stronger one is while moving in instances, the fewer troubles. Playing dumb when facing numerous unpredictable players in the same instance is just asking for trouble.
But his previous move was overly powerful. At least so far, the fellow hadn’t seen a prop that could destroy so many props in a second. Even if it wasn’t a Super Prop, it was definitely top-tier Rank-A, extremely rare. With such a prop, unless there are strict usage limits, a few exchanges in battle might allow him to exploit an opening to destroy props—how long could he fight?
"Just tell me what to do, and I’ll comply," the unlucky fellow decided to bow to reality after a mental brainstorm.
"First, we have to solve a problem," Xu Huo indicated that the fellow should wait a moment, then turned his gaze to the stranded Offensive Faction player.
The man’s face changed, and the overwhelming murderous intent made him reflexively want to run. However, before he could move, a force pinned him in place—he was immobilized!
There are plenty of props that can restrain the human body, but they are definitely different from Time-related Items. The instant the man froze, the others realized it was an effect brought by Time Force!
