"Almost there," the leading goblin panted, pointing towards the jagged entrance of a dark cave.

"Stay behind me!" he ordered as they reached the makeshift traps they had laid hours ago.

The injured goblin was nearly carried, his limbs hanging limp while the others hoisted his weight over his rotting roots.

Crisscrossed twine and pressure plates waited in the dark undergrowth, their eyes averted from the metallic threads hidden beneath leaves.

One of the wolves stopped, sensing a shift in the air pressure of the narrow path.

Static buzzed from its fangs and it fired another shot, illuminating the wet dark with a stark flash of light.

A dart struck the ground near the last goblin, shocking a puff of earth into the air before they could duck.

Into the black mouth of the cavern, the goblins threw themselves down like they were stones cast into the deep.

Inside, piles of fresh monster corpses sat rotting and stinking from the kills of previous battles.

"Cover yourselves!" one of them whispered through shaking teeth.

The trio squeezed their frail frames between cold, unmoving limbs of slain Deathweaver spiders and other prey, burying their smell under the rancid scent of death.

Heartbeats throbbed in their throats, loud as drums in a silent room.

They dared not sneeze, blink or twitch a finger.

Sweat poured off their forehead and down their chins in thin rivulets as they waited in the stifling heat of decay.

Outside, heavy breathing echoed down into the depths of the earth.

The first Lightning Wolf went inside, its feet pawing against damp stone to avoid unseen springs and triggers.

The second followed closely behind, ears perked up as static crackles arched silently from its back.

They circled slowly, snorting wetly, scanning for heat and life among the carnage.

With no movement detected and the smell of ozone fading from their fur, they deemed it safe for now.

The first wolf tore a piece of rotting meat free from the corpse pile, shivering a little with a shiver as the smell wafted up its nostrils.

The flavor was peculiarly intense, almost sickeningly good, sweeter than the normal beasts it ate.

Its tongue darted out, licking at the exposed flesh before tearing in again.

The second wolf stepped closer, lowering its snout to take its share of the feast when suddenly something hard and fast slammed down.

It was the first wolf's leg, pressing deep into the damp rock floor.

#######

They were both stuck, locked in that embarrassing moment for who knows how long.

A goblin inside the dark space let a loud gulping.

"What are they doing," he whispered with a mix of confusion and shame in his voice.

#######

The injured goblin tilted his head as he heard the answer.

"How did you know?"

"I don't know, the word just popped into my head," the leader goblin stammered to answer the question that had burned in the others' brains moments before.

#######

That animalistic drive seemed to radiate from the beasts as heat in a cold, damp air, making all senses fade except the need to watch.

One of the goblins leaped from the corpse pile with a stupid, wide grin splitting across his face and greed in his eyes.

"That's what you get you stupid dogs!"

He tried to kick his leg high to strike the snout of the closest wolf but missed.

Their paws scraped against stone, launching them sideways with electric agility before their bodies even twitched.

#######

The one without the knot burst into motion, jaws snapping as it's paws flew toward the intruding goblin.

In an instant it pinned the green creature to the hard stone with a claw digging into the goblin's shoulder, knocking his balance into the dirt.

"What are you doing? Unhand me, you stupid dog!" the trapped goblin shrieked with a high pitched cry, thrashing against the massive weight of the beast on top.

His fingers clawed for purchase on the ground as the wolf sank its teeth into the leather loincloth that covered the small, frail goblin cock.

With one mighty tug, the material split cleanly and the goblin was left exposed on his stomach.

#######

The beast dropped a paw across his back, pinning him with easy strength even as his muscles tried to push upwards with every instinct of survival.
