Leo
Director Gerald stood between us as the officiant, holding a small ceremonial leather book. He looked at the two of us with a proud, paternal warmth, clearing his throat to address the intimate crowd.
"Friends, family, and loved ones," Gerald began, his voice carrying clearly over the gentle rustle of the ocean waves. "We are gathered here today on this sanctuary of an island to celebrate a love that has proven itself to be remarkably resilient. Miller Reid and Leo Ackerman have faced extraordinary darkness, uncertainty, and biological trials, yet they have chosen to stand by each other, to heal together, and to love without fear. They have decided to be joined together in holy matrimony, be each other soulmates forever.’’
As Gerald spoke the traditional opening words, I kept my eyes fixed entirely on Miller. I could feel the faint, sweet scent of night jasmine radiating softly from my own skin, blending seamlessly with the comforting, grounded warmth of Miller’s presence.
And I didn’t care if I smelled like an omega or smelled like an enigma. None of it mattered as long as I was with miller.
"And now," Gerald smiled, looking down at his book. "The couple will exchange their personal vows."
Miller took a deep breath, taking both of my hands in his. He looked directly into my eyes, his green gaze unwavering as he began. ’’Leo, when we first met, I thought you were the most complicated, stubborn, and overly crazy person I had ever encountered. But as I got to know you, I realized that beneath all those complex medical terms and logical defenses was a man with a heart so big and pure it terrified him. You have spent your whole life trying to protect everyone around you from your own shadows. Today, I promise you that you never have to fight those shadows alone again. I promise to love you through every change, every test, and every single day of our lives. You are my partner, my mate, and my entire world. I love you so much Leo.’’
A quiet sob sounded from the front row where my mother was sitting, but I barely heard it.
My chest felt so full of love it almost physically ached hearing what Miller had to say about me.
Gerald turned to me. "Leo, your vows."
I swallowed hard, squeezing Miller’s hands tightly. I had prepared written notes in my pocket, filled with carefully structured sentences, but at this moment, I didn’t need them.
"Miller," I said, my voice clear for everyone to hear. "From a strictly empirical perspective, the probability of two human beings achieving absolute psychological, biological, and emotional compatibility is infinitely small. According to standard medical data, love is often defined simply as a complex neurological reaction involving dopamine, oxytocin, and vasopressin. But standing here with you today... I know that science is entirely insufficient to describe what I feel for you."
A light, fond laugh echoed from Rhys and Kayden in the background, and Miller smiled brightly, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
"My entire life," I continued, my voice softening as I looked into his eyes, "I was terrified of my own biology. I was terrified that my existence was doomed to follow a path of destruction and violence. But you saw through all my fears. You held my hand when my world was falling apart, and you taught me that softness is not a sign of biological weakness—it is a sign of strength. I love you, Miller Reid. I love you more than my own survival, more than logic, and more than life itself. I give you my heart, my body, and my entire future, without reservation. I used to be afraid of falling in love but you made me understand what love is all about.’’
Miller let out a shaky, tearful breath, pulling my hands up to press a soft kiss against my knuckles.
"By the authority vested in me by this island sanctuary," Gerald announced, his voice filled with deep joy, "and by the truth of the love you share, I now pronounce you husbands. You may kiss your groom."
Miller didn’t hesitate for a single second. He stepped forward, sliding his hands up to frame the sides of my face, and pulled me into a deep, passionate kiss
The small crowd burst into loud, enthusiastic applause. I wrapped my arms around Miller’s waist, deepening the kiss as the warm island breeze swept around us.
The taste of his lips, the warmth of his skin, and the absolute certainty of his love washed over me, completely erasing every lingering ghost of my past.
Then we slowly exchanged the rings and I leaned in to kiss him again.
When we finally pulled back, resting our foreheads together as we caught our breath, Kayden’s loud, cheering voice cut through the applause.
"Congratulations, Doctor and Mister Ackerman-Reid!" Kayden shouted, clapping enthusiastically alongside Rhys. "Look at you two! Wow, absolutely amazing!"
Miller laughed softly against my lips, keeping his arm firmly wrapped around my waist as we turned to face our guests.
"Alright, alright!" Gabriella called out, handing me the lush bouquet of white orchids and night jasmine. "Tradition calls for the flower toss, Leo! Let’s see who is getting married next!"
"Oh, this should be entertaining," I murmured, turning my back to the small gathering of guests standing at the edge of the aisle.
I took a deep breath, aimed high, and tossed the heavy bouquet back over my shoulder into the air.
A sudden rustle of formal suits and lightweight laughter echoed behind me. I turned around quickly just in time to see the bouquet land directly into the hands of my cousin, Nico Park.
The last person I expected.
Nico caught the flowers cleanly against his chest, blinking in complete surprise as he looked down at the white orchids in his hands.
Beside him, his partner, Alaric De Villier—standing tall and dignified in his bespoke suit—raised an eyebrow and tried to gently step back, shaking his head. "Nico, put those down. We are in the middle of a formal reception setting, and—"
"Nope! The universe has spoken, love!" Nico interrupted with a bright, mischievous grin, holding the bouquet tightly against his chest as he wrapped his other arm playfully around Alaric’s waist. He looked up at Alaric with an adoring, wicked smirk. "Looks like we are going to be getting married very soon too, my darling!"
The entire pavilion erupted into roaring laughter as Alaric sighed heavily, though a faint, fond flush touched the top of his cheekbones as he pulled Nico closer.
Miller leaned against my shoulder, his warm arm sliding securely around my waist as we watched our family laugh and celebrate under the golden sun. He looked up at me, his green eyes glowing with happiness.
"How are your wedding jitters doing now, Doctor?" Miller whispered playfully into my ear.
I smiled down at my husband, placing a soft, tender kiss against his temple. "My heart rate has stabilized at a perfectly optimal frequency, Miller. In fact... I have never felt more biologically, mentally, and emotionally perfect in my entire life."
