Chapter 43: Chapter 43: your ass is soft

She walked out of the room without hesitation. The door opened easily—no locks this time. A small, satisfied smile tugged at her lips.

Nice. They’re learning.

She padded down the quiet corridor in bare feet, taking her time. Pale moonlight poured through the tall glass, streaking the floor with silver gridlines. Reaching Enzo’s room, she paused. The doorknob turned smoothly beneath her fingers, offering zero pushback, and the door swung open.

Enzo stood on the other side as if he had been waiting, motionless as a statue. His arms were folded, and his grey eyes pinned her with that familiar, icy stare. t

Amelia’s closed-eyed smile widened a fraction, softening into something almost fond. "Still as stoic as ever," she murmured, her voice carrying a warmth that seemed out of place. "When was the last time you actually laughed Enzy?"

"So you’re the one who did something to my brother."

"I didn’t do anything," she replied lightly, tilting her head. "I only reminded him of something. Something only a person who truly knows him would know." Her smile turned knowing. "Little things."

"Then you know us from our past lives."

Amelia gave a soft, almost mocking little hum of approval. "Look at you. So quick at putting the pieces together." She stepped closer, her bare feet silent. "Almost impressive..."

Then her expression shifted. The playful edge drained away, replaced by something colder and far more personal. Even with her eyes closed, the change was unmistakable.

"You almost got me killed," she said quietly as he voice dropped. "That wasn’t funny. That wasn’t clever. That was reckless and stupid, and you know it."

She looked around as if searching for something. "And I can feel the other two as well. Hovering like overgrown bats who think the shadows actually hide them."

Reid and Dean stepped out from their positions in the room, no longer bothering to remain unseen. Reid was definitely amused.

Enzo had felt something unfamiliar and unwelcome twisted in his chest at the look on her face—an odd leap of his heart he immediately crushed, shoving it down into the cold place where he kept all his inconvenient feelings. He forced himself to remain cold. "I’ll go straight to the point. Tell me everything you know about the Underworld Territory."

"I can tell you one thing," she said lightly, her voice carrying a musical lilt. "The three of you won’t be able to find their territory. No matter what you try. No matter how many resources you throw at it. It’s one of their more annoying perks. They are quite the loyal dogs."

Her tone sharpened a bit. "But why are you so interested? What exactly did that territory do to you that you’re this desperate for revenge... or is it vengeance?"

Reid butted in. "That’s none of your business. You’re not here to ask questions. You’re here to answer them."

Amelia gave a soft, almost pitying hum, the sound dripping with condescension. "Then you don’t need to interrogate me, do you? If my motives don’t matter to you, then my information shouldn’t matter either." She paused. "Do you really believe I’ll hand over everything I know and then simply let you cut ties with me afterward?"

"That’s the contract we signed." Enzo replied.

"You signed it with my clueless self," Amelia replied. "Not with me." She tapped her temple with one finger. "She doesn’t know what I know."

Reid let out a short breath and glanced at his brothers, his expression shifting to something dismissive. "I don’t think she actually knows anything. She’s just wasting our time."

Amelia’s head turned slightly in his direction. "Haven’t you tried capturing them before?" she asked in a matter of fact. "Every time you succeed, they die automatically. That’s because they have a death switch. The moment they’re taken, it triggers. They’d rather die than be interrogated."

She paused, letting the information settle like stones in still water.

"There’s something else too," she continued. "Something that could actually give you the advantage you’ve been looking for. But I won’t tell you until you meet my demands."

Reid’s expression changed, and he moved in a flash.

He lunged forward in a blur of speed, hand outstretched to seize her. The air cracked with the force of his movement, a sharp whistle cutting through the silence of the room.

Amelia’s body reacted faster.

In a single fluid motion she sidestepped, caught his wrist, twisted, and used his own momentum against him. It was like watching water flow around a stone so effortlessly.

Reid hit the floor hard on his stomach, the impact driving the air from his lungs with a sharp grunt. Before he could recover, she had both of his arms locked behind his back and a knee planted firmly between his shoulder blades, pinning him in place.

Reid let out a short, incredulous breath against the floorboards, his voice muffled. "Is that all you’ve got?" h

"Nope babe...there is more..."

Then she did the most unexpected, completely unhinged thing any of them could have imagined.

SPANK!!

A sharp, clean smack landed squarely on his ass.

Reid’s entire body jerked. "What the fuck—"

She spanked him again. Another jolt shot through him. His voice jumped an octave, incredulous and outraged. "Stop—what the fuck are you doing?!"

"Brothers," Reid snarled, thrashing under her hold, his legs kicking uselessly against the floor, "stop staring and do something! What the hell are you looking at?!"

Neither Enzo nor Dean moved.

Enzo’s face was locked in pure, speechless disbelief, his mouth slightly open. Dean made a strange choking sound that might have been the beginning of a laugh before he forcibly swallowed it, looking like he had just witnessed the end of the world. His hand came up to cover his mouth.

Amelia still pinning Reid with effortless strength, gave his backside a thoughtful little pat. "You know," she said pointedly, "your ass is the softest out of the three of you. Did you know that?"
