Chapter 45: Chapter 45: i am so ready

She squeezed her eyes shut again. The dream looked too good to leave. Warm skin, steady breathing, the heavy safety of being completely surrounded—if she stayed still, maybe it would last a little longer.

Then one of the bodies shifted.

The movement was too solid, too real. A frown tugged at her brow. Can a dream feel this real?

She opened her eyes once more and glanced left, then right. Unfamiliar ceiling. She didn’t think much of it at first. Sleep still clung to her thoughts.

She blinked hard, rubbed her eyes with the heel of her hand, and looked up again.

This was not her room. Her head turned slowly from one side to the other. Men. There were men on the bed. And she was in the middle of an unfamiliar room.

The realization sank in like cold water.

She sat up too fast. The sheets slipped down her body. She looked around again, as though the room might somehow explain what had happened.

Recognition hit a second later—Enzo on one side, Dean on the other, Reid beside Dean.

All three of them. She pinched the soft skin of her forearm.

"Ouch." Not a dream.

How did I end up here?

The answer came with a sick drop in her stomach. Did i sleepwalk again? . But that only raised a worse question. Why were the three of them sleeping so soundly around her? That shouldn’t have been possible. These men didn’t drop their guard for anyone.

She reached out and touched the nearest arm—Dean’s—just to confirm the body and heat were real. Then she pushed it off her body and started inching toward the foot of the bed.

I don’t even want to know what happened.

Her gaze drifted over their faces while they slept. Without the usual cold sharpness or mocking smiles, they looked... different. More attractive. Almost peaceful.

"They look different when they’re not being jerks and devils," she muttered under her breath.

She immediately winced at herself. Stop. Get that thought out of your head right now.

She carefully dragged herself downward, trying to slip off the end of the mattress without waking anyone.

A strong arm suddenly hooked around her waist and pulled her back against a solid chest.

Amelia froze.

Dean’s voice was low and rough with sleep, right beside her ear. "Where do you think you’re going?"

How long has he been awake?

"I—I’m sorry," she managed, the words tumbling out too fast. "I don’t know how I ended up here."

Her body felt hot. Being pressed against a shirtless man with long hair that spilled over his shoulder made the entire situation feel like a scene from one of those rom com movies. Except this was real, and the man holding her was anything but safe.

Dean’s arm didn’t loosen. "You visited us last night."

The meaning hit her at once. She was sleepwalking, again. Embarrassment burned across her face—first for the unconscious wandering, then for waking up in this exact position. She had no desire to ask why all three of them had ended up in the same bed with her. Some things were better left unknown.

"I need to leave."

"You’re only leaving when it’s time to get dressed for the ceremony."

The voice came from behind her. Enzo.

Amelia’s whole body jerked. She hadn’t realized he was awake. His hand settled on her back, warm and firm through the thin fabric of her sleep clothes.

"You’re the one who requested this arrangement in the first place."

"That’s impossible."

Enzo shifted closer. She felt him lean in, the subtle brush of his breath near her shoulder as he drew in her scent. Something unreadable passed through his expression. She smelled... good. Good enough that he had actually slept deeply for once.

"Do you think we’re lying to you?"

Amelia swallowed. "I’m taking my words back. I don’t want to be here."

A third voice joined them, rough with sleep and edged with that familiar lazy amusement. "You don’t have a choice."

Reid sat up on the other side of the bed, looking down at her with half-lidded eyes and a faint, knowing smile. Morning light cut across his bare chest.

"Today’s the ceremony. Everyone needs to see that you’re our woman—not just on paper."

Amelia’s fingers twisted in the sheets.

"I’m not ready."

"Would you rather get ready in front of a crowd?"

The thought alone made her stomach drop. That would be worse. Far worse.

"Why are you acting like you’ve never made out with a man before?" Enzo stated.

Panic spiked through her chest.

Oh no.

They couldn’t find out. They absolutely could not know she was still a virgin, that she had never done any of this in her entire life. She needed to do something before the conversation went any further.

So she did the first stupid thing that crashed into her mind.

She leaned forward to dean, and kissed him.

Dean went still.

He hadn’t expected it. His body should have rejected the contact the way it usually did—kisses were rarely something he allowed, and most of them tasted like nothing worth remembering.

But the moment her mouth met his, something entirely different happened. Heat punched low through his gut. His cock throbbed hard against the sheets. I...like... it. The realization hit him with almost as much force as the kiss itself.

Why do I like this?

Amelia had no real plan beyond the initial crash of lips. Her mind scrambled wildly for the next move, any move, while her heart hammered so hard she was sure he could feel it. She didn’t know what she was doing. She only knew she couldn’t stop first.

Dean’s hand came up, fingers sliding into her hair. He pulled her closer instead of pushing her away. His tongue traced the seam of her lips and then pushed inside, tasting her properly. The wet heat of it sent a jolt straight down her spine. Her core clenched, sudden and throbbing, and a soft, helpless moan slipped out of her mouth and into his.
