Knotting His Rejected Breeder

Chapter 247: The Longing We Share

SONIA’S POV

The sound of rain tapping against the window filled the quiet room.

For the first time in weeks, there was no sound of warriors rushing through the halls. No cries of the wounded. No smell of blood and medicine hanging in the air.

Just peace.

A peace I was still learning how to trust.

I sat near the window, one hand resting over my stomach as I watched the dark clouds outside.

Seven months.

That was how long I had carried our child. Seven months of fear. Seven months of wondering if Ramon would ever look at me the way he used to.

Not because I doubted his love. I knew he loved me now, but some wounds were deeper than silver blades.

Some wounds were created by words, by betrayal, and by the moments when you felt completely alone.

The door behind me opened softly. I didn’t need to turn around.

I knew him.

I knew the sound of his footsteps. I knew his scent and now I can clearly feel his wolf, always dancing with excitement when closer to me.

"You’re supposed to be resting."

A small smile touched my lips. "And you’re supposed to be resting too."

Ramon walked closer, a quiet laugh escaping him.

"Looks like neither of us listens."

I turned to look at him. The man standing before me was different from the one who had entered the battlefield a month ago.

He was stronger. But he was also softer. The pride that once kept him distant had disappeared.

The scars from my late father, Fenris’s silver blade were still visible beneath his clothes, reminders of the battle he almost didn’t survive.

I hated those scars but I also loved them, because they reminded me that he fought to come back.

To me, to our child.

He sat beside me carefully. His eyes immediately dropped to my stomach.

A gentle smile appeared on his face.

"How is he today?"

I smiled. "He has your stubbornness."

Ramon looked offended. "My stubbornness?"

"Yes."

"I disagree." I raised an eyebrow.

"You nearly died because you refused to surrender."

He looked away. "That was different."

I laughed softly.

For a moment, we were just us. Not Alpha and Luna. Not survivors of a war.

Just Ramon and Sonia Wayne.

His hand slowly reached for mine. He paused before touching me.

That small hesitation broke my heart.

Because I knew why. He was still afraid. Afraid that he would hurt me.

Afraid that he didn’t deserve this second chance.

I squeezed his fingers. "Ramon."

He looked at me.

"Look at me."

His eyes met mine.

"You don’t have to be afraid of me." His jaw tightened.

"I’m not afraid of you."

"I know."

I placed my hand against his chest.

"I’m talking about what happened before."

His expression changed. The guilt was still there. It always was.

"Sonia..."

"No."

I shook my head gently.

"You cannot spend the rest of your life punishing yourself."

His eyes lowered.

"I hurt you."

"Yes."

The honesty surprised him.

"I did."

"But you also saved me."

His gaze lifted. "You fought for me. You chose me. You came back."

I moved closer.

"Don’t forget the man you became because you’re ashamed of the man you were."

For a long moment, he said nothing.

Then he pulled me into his arms carefully. Like I was something precious. Like he was afraid I would disappear.

"I missed this." His voice was quiet.

"Missed what?"

"Having you close."

My heart tightened. "I was right there."

"No." He shook his head.

"You were beside me, but there was still a wall between us."

I understood. Because I felt it too. The fear. The uncertainty. The memories of everything we lost.

I rested my head against his chest. "I missed you too."

His arms tightened around me. The room became silent again. But this silence was different.

It wasn’t filled with pain. It was filled with comfort. After everything...We were finally learning how to be together again.

Suddenly, our baby moved.

Ramon froze.

His eyes widened. "He kicked."

I smiled. "Yes."

"He knows I’m here."

I laughed softly. "You think everything is about you."

"He’s my son."

"He is also my son." Ramon smiled.

Then he lowered his head and gently pressed a kiss against my stomach.

The sight alone made my heart ache.

This was the man I had always wanted him to become.

A father. A partner.

Someone who loved without fear.

"I promise you," he whispered.

His voice was filled with emotion. "I will never make either of you feel alone again."

My eyes burned. I brushed my fingers through his hair.

"Ramon."

"Hmm?"

"We’re not going back."

He looked at me. "We’re moving forward."

A slow smile spread across his face. "Together?"

I nodded. "Together."

He kissed my forehead, a simple kiss. And somehow, it meant more than anything else.

Because after all the blood. After all the pain.

After almost losing each other...We were still here. And for now, that was enough.

For a moment, neither of us moved.

The room was warm, lit only by the soft glow of candles and the moonlight filtering through the tall windows.

Months of pain, separation, anger, and longing pressed between us like an invisible wall.

Ramon stood a few feet away, his broad shoulders tense. His eyes were dark, searching mine. He looked almost... nervous. The powerful Alpha who had faced death on the battlefield now stood uncertain, his hands clenched at his sides.

I felt the same.

My heart hammered against my ribs. My belly was heavy and round—seven months pregnant with our child. I was suddenly aware of every inch of my body. The scars on my hands from the battle. The stretch marks forming on my skin. The way my breasts had grown fuller, more sensitive.

I took a shaky breath.

"Ramon..."

He stepped closer.

Slowly.

Like he was afraid I might disappear if he moved too fast.

His hand lifted, hovering near my cheek before gently cupping my face. His thumb brushed my lower lip, trembling slightly.

"I’ve dreamed of this," he whispered. "Every night. But I was scared I’d lost the right to touch you."

My eyes stung.

I reached up and took his hand, guiding it down to my belly.

"You never lost the right," I said softly. "This is yours. I’m yours. Even when I was angry... I was still yours."
