Chapter 1977: Chapter 1977: Breeding Guidelines (18)

He Jin’s residence is the same as in the original memory, a standalone house with its own small garden.

"Come in."

He Jin turned sideways, gesturing for Chuzheng to enter the house.

Chuzheng entered boldly, without hesitation.

He Jin closed the door, his voice echoing softly: "Muse, do you know I worry when you run off like that?"

Chuzheng leapt a few steps, jumped onto the cabinet, wrapping her tail around herself: "Worry about what?"

He Jin: "Of course, I’m worried about your well-being."

Chuzheng looked down at the young man: "You should worry about yourself now."

He Jin: "??"

The Little Cat’s tone and demeanor were unfamiliar to He Jin.

If she didn’t look the same, He Jin would have thought he had mistaken her for another cat.

Why such a big change?

She’s not even a bit afraid of him...

After a few seconds, He Jin laughed softly: "Muse, I don’t know what you’ve been through out there, but now that you’re back here, do you really think you’re a match for me?"

"How would I know without trying?" A human... no, a cat should constantly challenge itself. I feel smashing this piece of garbage that is you is no problem for me!

The young man’s brows and eyes darkened: "Muse, don’t go looking for trouble."

Chuzheng was too lazy to argue with He Jin; the Good Person Card was still waiting at home for her to return.

He Jin and Chuzheng had the same thought, so they both moved simultaneously.

He Jin tried to grab Chuzheng, but Chuzheng was prepared, her sharp claws leaving a bloody scratch on the back of He Jin’s hand.

Chuzheng leaped from the cabinet onto the nearby sofa.

He Jin’s gaze grew darker as he chased her, with the two of them, human and cat, engaging in a back-and-forth throughout the room.

After much effort, He Jin didn’t even touch a single hair on Chuzheng.

Instead, Chuzheng left quite a few marks on He Jin.

Bam!

The table was knocked over by He Jin, but Chuzheng deftly jumped over the table’s edge, dodging the falling clutter.

Her fluffy tail swept through the air, stirring a slight breeze.

Just as He Jin was about to pursue, his ankle was suddenly seized by something cold, and he fell to the floor.

Clang—

He Jin’s head hit the corner of the toppled table, and blood flowed down his forehead.

He lifted his hand to wipe it, his palm sticky with blood, his expression dark as the bottom of a pot.

What has this creature experienced outside that has made it so difficult?

He Jin had no time to figure it out, trying to push himself up, but just as he moved, the ceiling darkened and his eyes went black as he lost consciousness, collapsing to the ground.

The heavy copper ornament that struck He Jin was eerily suspended in mid-air.

Chuzheng stood on the back of the sofa. Seeing He Jin fainted, she waved her little paws in the air, and the copper ornament floated back into place.

-

Woo-woo-woo—

The sharp siren and alternating red and blue lights shattered the serenity of the area.

Startled awake by the noise, He Jin was already restrained by armed officers rushing in before he could understand what happened.

He Jin: "..." Who am I? Where am I? What am I doing?

Loud shouts rang out, armed personnel swarmed into every room, and the static from walkie-talkies filled the air... creating a chaotic scene.

Pinned to the ground, He Jin’s gaze fell on the scattered money on the floor.

Money?

He was lying on a pile of money, but where did this pile of money come from?!

And who were these people?!

"Captain, we found this!"

He Jin watched someone emerge from his bedroom, holding a black bag.

"Captain, we found something!"

"Captain, there’s a discovery over here too!"

Voices sounded almost simultaneously from different directions.

It wasn’t until He Jin failed to be taken away that he understood what had happened.

"I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ve never seen those items. They’re not mine. What are you making me confess to?"

They had found a stash of unexplained money and contraband in his house.

He Jin had never seen those items, as he was knocked out by that little beast...

The cat did this?

He Jin doubted it was possible. This was too complex and could not have been orchestrated in such a short time.

Then who?

Who had the capability to do all this so quickly?

"Discovered at your residence, and you claim not to know?! He Jin, you’d better come clean. Honest confession leads to leniency, resistance leads to severity!"

"I want to see a lawyer!"

With those words, He Jin closed his eyes, refusing to speak further.

-

Elsewhere.

[Miss, do you think this is appropriate?] King’s Account said with a heavy heart.

Chuzheng snarled fiercely: Haven’t I completed the task? What’s the fuss?

[...] Do you have to be such a spendthrift?! Calling for extravagance wasn’t about providing tools to frame others!

Chuzheng said confidently: What’s wrong? Not only does it allow for extravagance, but it also teaches that dog thing a lesson. This is the correct posture for extravagance! Perfect! Full marks!

Perfect my ass!

Full marks my ass!

[...Have some dignity! Does backstabbing people align with your Big Boss status?] You promised to be a Big Boss, yet you’re a petty villain behind the scenes! Is this appropriate?

Chuzheng was unconcerned: Nobody knows, so what’s there to fear.

[...] King’s Account, collapsed.

Chuzheng, having vented her anger at King’s Account, leisurely returned to the neighbourhood.

Seeing her return, Shang Qi immediately pressed her to take a bath.

Chuzheng: "..."

Oh.

"What were you doing? Coming back so late?" Shang Qi asked as he dried her fur.

—Walking.

Shang Qi felt Chuzheng was brushing him off, pinching her ear with a rub: "It’s dangerous outside, don’t keep running out."

—No worries.

"You’ll understand when you suffer one day." Shang Qi shook his head helplessly, pulling out a comb to groom her fur.

Chuzheng’s fur was too long, making it difficult to comb. At first, Shang Qi wasn’t very skilled, but now he had mastered it.

Chuzheng lay on his lap, her little paws pressing on his other wrist.

"Yue Ban, you’re shedding." Shang Qi suddenly held the comb up to Chuzheng’s face.

—Lots of fur, no fear.

Shang Qi: "..."

After a moment of silence, Shang Qi suggested: "Maybe trim some off? Otherwise, you’ll shed everywhere."

Chuzheng’s cat eyes glared, ’In your dreams!’

Why should I trim my fur!

Chuzheng kicked Shang Qi, attempting to jump off him, but Shang Qi pressed her back down, ruining her escape, ending up sprawled across his lap, paw somewhere it shouldn’t be.

"..."

"..."

Man and cat stared at each other in silence.

The atmosphere in the room suddenly turned awkward.

Shang Qi’s expression turned peculiar. After a few seconds of stalemate, he picked up Chuzheng onto the sofa, turned sideways, stood up quickly, and dashed into the room.

Chuzheng: "???

Chuzheng jumped off the sofa, attempting to open the door with her little paws, only to find it was locked from inside.

Chuzheng: "...

What is the Good Person Card up to!

Chuzheng could have opened the door if she wanted, but instead, she just lingered at the entrance for a moment before turning away to the living room.
