Chapter 2132: Chapter 2132: King of the Pirates (23)
Just as the Steward had said, on the third day a merchant ship appeared.
Chuzheng intercepted the merchant ship, confirmed that it really was loaded with cloth, and had the steward of the ship brought over.
Just like the previous steward, he was scared out of his wits, and as soon as he came over he started wailing like a ghost for mercy.
"Stop howling." Chuzheng got impatient with the noise. "I’m here to do some business with you."
Steward: "???"
The Steward suspected he’d misheard out of fear; otherwise, how could he be hearing a pirate say she wanted to do business with him?
Business in human heads?
Yet when Chuzheng actually took out silver notes and said she wanted to buy the cloth on his ship, the Steward had no choice but to go along.
"You... you’re not going to kill us?" The Steward was still trembling.
"If you want to die, I can fulfill that wish too." After all, I’m a good person.
"No, no, no!" The Steward shook his head like a rattle drum. "As long as you don’t kill us, you can take everything on the ship, no need to pay."
Chuzheng slapped the silver notes down with an imposing air. "I’m not that kind of person, don’t be afraid."
Steward: "..."
You being like this is even scarier.
What kind of pirate boards a ship, doesn’t rob it, and instead pays money to buy things? Is your brain broken?
The Steward held the thick stack of silver notes and didn’t dare say a single word.
Chuzheng had the Pirates move the cloth over to their ship.
Bu Qing had originally been practicing calligraphy in his room. Hearing the commotion outside, he pushed open the door and walked out.
Bu Qing saw Chuzheng on the ship opposite. He thought for a moment and decided to go down and find her.
But Bu Qing hadn’t expected to run into someone.
The other person clearly hadn’t expected to run into Bu Qing either and was scared half to death at first.
When he realized Bu Qing wasn’t some vicious pirate, but a young, good-looking boy, the man instantly showed a hint of hope.
"Save me."
It was a girl’s voice.
She was wearing a loose, oversized outfit—who knows where she’d stolen it from. Her hair was a complete mess. At first glance, aside from her short stature, you couldn’t tell she was a girl at all.
Bu Qing stepped back two paces and shook his head.
"They’ll kill me. Save me, I’ll give you lots of money, I have money," the girl said anxiously.
Bu Qing shook his head even more vigorously and wanted to leave.
The girl felt that with a face that good-looking, his heart couldn’t possibly be too cold. Tearfully she pleaded, "You don’t look like you’re with them. Please save me, I don’t want to die. As long as you save me, I’ll do anything."
Bu Qing didn’t know how she’d snuck onto this ship, but saving her was out of the question.
He was very clear about what kind of identity he had.
And besides... he wasn’t that kind-hearted.
Bu Qing pointed toward a dark corner. The girl seemed to understand what he meant and immediately hid herself there.
Bu Qing gestured for her to stay put.
The girl took a while to figure out what Bu Qing meant: there were pirates constantly moving around on the ship, and he was too conspicuous to take her all over the place. She should hide here first while he figured out a way to draw the other pirates away.
Bu Qing shook off the girl and hurried all the way down, and the pirates he passed all stepped aside for him.
"What’s wrong?" A pirate glanced curiously behind Bu Qing. "Is there a ghost chasing him or what?"
"Careful, if the Island Master hears you, you’ll be sunk in the sea."
"..."
"Misses our Island Master, obviously." A certain pirate laughed suggestively.
"Island Master’s handling important business."
"Let’s make a bet. Once he goes over there, the Island Master will definitely coax him first."
"Not betting."
Bu Qing ran all the way onto the ship opposite.
Chuzheng saw him coming and had just opened her mouth to ask why he came over. "What are you..."
Bu Qing threw himself into Chuzheng’s arms, cutting off the rest of her sentence.
Chuzheng naturally wrapped her arms around him and patted his back. "What’s wrong?"
—Someone.
Bu Qing wrote two characters on Chuzheng’s back with his finger.
"On our ship?"
Bu Qing nodded.
"They threatened you?"
Bu Qing shook his head. Not really a threat...
"Got it." Chuzheng patted his spine to comfort him. "Did it scare you?"
Bu Qing: "..." Not really.
Bu Qing’s thoughts turned, and he quickly nodded, hugging Chuzheng a little tighter.
"There’s someone on that ship. Send people to bring them out," Chuzheng ordered the pirates beside her.
-
The girl who’d snuck onto the ship was quickly caught and brought over. Seeing the boy she’d asked for help now in Chuzheng’s arms, she felt a kind of uncanny "did I just see a ghost" weirdness in her heart.
The boy didn’t meet her gaze, his eyes shifting away directly.
"If you’re going to kill me, then get it over with!" The girl was furious that she’d misjudged him, lifted her chin, and puffed out her chest, ready to die heroically.
Chuzheng: "..."
Who said we were going to kill her?
Had she said anything about killing anyone when she came over?
Chuzheng asked the pirate next to her, "All moved?"
"Almost."
"Let’s go." Chuzheng directly picked Bu Qing up and headed back to their ship.
Bu Qing suddenly felt himself lifted off the ground. Instinctively, he wrapped his arms around Chuzheng’s neck, then the next second started shaking his head at her.
I can walk on my own.
"Don’t move around. If you fall into the sea, I’m not responsible for hauling you up."
Bu Qing: "..."
-
The King’s Account, sticking to the principle of "since we’re already out, might as well do a few more quests," tossed a bunch of random tasks at Chuzheng afterward.
By the time Chuzheng turned back toward home, her reputation had already spread.
A pirate... who robs people by paying.
No one had ever seen such a weird pirate—so rich, yet still doing piracy and robbery. Why not just be a respectable rich merchant instead?
Unfortunately, no one came to answer that question for them.
But since she didn’t hurt people and they didn’t suffer any loss, everyone couldn’t help but be curious about this pirate.
And right now, the subject of their curiosity was preparing to return to the island.
"Island Master, Island Master, Mi Yun is missing."
"If he’s missing, then he’s missing. What’s the point of telling me?"
"No, the Second Island Master is yelling to go back and look for Mi Yun."
That弟控 Second Island Master couldn’t possibly tolerate something like his little brother going missing.
"..."
No one had noticed exactly when Mi Yun disappeared, but thinking back, they could infer it was probably a few days ago when they docked.
Mi Yun had always wanted to leave. Before, the Second Island Master wouldn’t allow it and always had people watching him, so Mi Yun could never run.
This time he’d finally gotten a chance to escape. There’s no way he’d stick around.
"Let him go." Chuzheng waved carelessly.
If the Second Island Master wanted to chase, then let him.
Stopping him would only earn resentment, and she had no interest in that.
Anyway, one more or one less person didn’t make much difference to her.
The grateful Second Island Master sent Chuzheng a Good Person Card after receiving the news.
Chuzheng: "..."
Fine.
To repay the Second Island Master for this Thank-You Card, Chuzheng marked out a rough area where Mi Yun might have escaped and even gave a few possible routes he could have taken.
The grandkid ran off; as an elder, she should contribute a little.
Caring for the younger generation is everyone’s responsibility.
Far away in some city, as Mi Yun experienced the colorful, neon world, he suddenly sneezed without warning.
Mi Yun rubbed his nose and muttered softly, "Is someone thinking about me?"
Forget it. Since he’d gotten out, why bother with all that?
His wonderful life was just beginning.
Mi Yun had no idea he was being "cared for" by his elders.
