Chapter 2137: King of Pirates (28)

Chapter 2137: Chapter 2137: King of Pirates (28)

Bu Qing sat on the bed somewhat dazed. Wasn’t she supposed to teach him how to write? Why... did it end up here?

The images flashing through Bu Qing’s mind were too embarrassing, so he hurriedly shook them off.

Chuzheng was already dressed. As Bu Qing snapped back to reality, he found her bending down to meet his gaze.

"Do you need to wash up?"

The blush on Bu Qing’s face had not yet faded and it came back again.

He lowered his head and gave a barely perceptible nod.

Suddenly feeling a chill, Bu Qing instinctively covered himself. Chuzheng picked him up: "Haven’t I seen it all?"

Bu Qing: "..."

"Bu Qing, you’re a boy." Chuzheng placed him in the warm water. "Be more generous."

Bu Qing: "..."

Though he wasn’t well-read, it seemed... that wasn’t the correct way to use the word "generous."

Bu Qing sank his shoulders into the water, which covered his mouth and nose, leaving only his eyes exposed.

"What are you doing? Trying to drown yourself?" Chuzheng returned with a towel and saw Bu Qing’s behavior, quickly pulling him up a bit in alarm.

Bu Qing blinked his eyes, steamed by the water vapor, and shrank downward a bit uncomfortably.

"Sit properly." Chuzheng lifted him up again.

Bu Qing extended his hand and pointed outside.

"What do you want?"

Bu Qing shook his head, he didn’t want anything. He grabbed Chuzheng’s hand to write.

"Go out? Go out for what? Can’t I help you wash?"

--- No.

"But I want to do it."

Bu Qing: "..."

The boy’s face flushed red, withdrew both hands, and with slightly crimson lips pressed together, his lashes lowered, concealing the emotions in his eyes.

If she insists, there’s... nothing he can do about it.

Bu Qing’s wronged look made Chuzheng want to guide him all over again.

Huff.

Chuzheng put the items down. "Hurry and wash up, I’ll be waiting outside."

Chuzheng didn’t leave the room, merely a curtain separated her from where he was bathing, yet Bu Qing felt much more at ease.

He washed up quickly and slipped on his clothes.

By the time someone came in to call them for a meal, the boy was already curled up asleep in Chuzheng’s arms, beside him sheets of rice paper covered with the characters forming Chuzheng’s name.

Ink stained the boy’s hands. Chuzheng took a towel and began cleaning them gently, bit by bit.

"Keep it warm, we’ll eat later." Chuzheng instructed in a low voice.

"Alright." The pirate dared not look any further and quickly exited the room.

"What are the Island Master and that guy doing in there?" As soon as he left, someone crowded around asking.

"Practicing calligraphy?" The pirate paused. "But Bu Qing fell asleep."

"Just practicing calligraphy?" How long have the Island Master and Bu Qing been in there? And it’s broad daylight!

"...Probably." Doesn’t Bu Qing practice every day? And whenever the Island Master has time, she teaches him; there’s nothing strange about it.

-

Chuzheng ordered the pirates to compile all the pirates’ information; she was about to start fishing in troubled waters to expand her domain.

In such an environment, communication wasn’t instant, so Chuzheng’s fishing trips had their advantages and difficulties.

Even sending a message to the other party was extremely difficult.

Also, those small-scale pirates were pretty timid, trying to catch them was as hard as catching a Mouse.

Chuzheng had paid dearly in dealing with these pirates.

Bu Qing massaged the sides of Chuzheng’s forehead, watching her trace on the map.

"Alright, stop it." Chuzheng pulled his hand down, and the boy naturally wrapped his arms around her neck, his head resting closely against her.

Bu Qing stretched out his hand to grab a pen, writing on the paper beside him.

--- Why are you doing this?

"For... peace!" Hmm! I’m capable!

Bu Qing tilted his head in puzzlement.

"Do you hate pirates?"

Bu Qing held the pen and slowly wrote on the paper.

--- I don’t hate you.

Which means he probably hates other pirates.

After all, Bu Qing wasn’t meant to live here; he was taken and lived in this environment, so it’s normal to hate it.

Chuzheng pulled his hand to make him turn around and sit by her side.

"Then, do you like me?"

Bu Qing’s pen left some ink spots on the paper. After a while, he added a stroke.

--- I like you.

"I like you too."

Bu Qing turned his head to look at her, his gaze flickering slightly.

--- When did you start liking me?

Chuzheng rested her chin on the boy’s shoulder, her arms wrapped around his waist, speaking softly and slowly. "For a long time now."

--- How long is a long time?

"I can’t tell."

Bu Qing: "..."

But they hadn’t known each other for very long.

Why can’t she tell?

Bu Qing felt inexplicably uneasy, wanting to know how long her "long time" really was, feeling like he... might have forgotten something.

But his memories were complete, without any missing parts. What did he forget?

"Just remember, you’ll always be mine." Chuzheng’s lips touched Bu Qing’s ear, each word seeming to infuse power, flowing into his heart, leaving a mark.

Bu Qing wanted to refute something, but in the end, he merely nodded.

He remembered.

-

The pirate forces that Chuzheng consolidated grew more and more. During this period, there were no pirate attacks, causing people on the land to find it odd.

The weather turned cold, did pirates hibernate too?

How come they never heard about this before?

The chance of pirate appearances increases in winter, as resources on islands become scarce.

Yet this year there was no activity; some merchant ships quickly set sail to avoid pirate encounters.

However, unexpectedly, as soon as they set out, they encountered pirates.

This group of pirates flew all-black flags, not associated with any known forces.

Some recalled merchant ships previously robbed by pirates but returned, mentioning those pirates also bore black flags.

Could it be those pirates?

But the scale previously mentioned wasn’t this large!

How did it become such a scale so quickly?

Chuzheng intercepted merchant ships but didn’t rob them, just bought their goods, allowing them to head home halfway through their voyage.

With the goods sold, what reason was there to continue?

However, some people still needed the ships to follow the original route.

The pirate ship anchored at the same location for quite a while. Some merchant ships, after a few tense transactions realizing pirates truly had money, cleverly loaded up goods and headed straight there.

Chuzheng: "..."

Chuzheng didn’t buy just anything, after all, some things were useless to her, not necessary for the mission.

Did she need them as garbage?

So...

Ships that weren’t ’looted’ felt disappointed.

Upon hearing the news, the Imperial Court sent people to investigate, only to find no pirates on the sea.

Chuzheng wasn’t foolish; knowing the Imperial Court would surely eliminate them, why stay and confront them?

After several encounters, people found it odd that whenever they came, the pirates were gone.

Eventually, it was discovered that passing merchant ships had been signaling them.

Given the current situation, with so many merchant ships at sea, even if their flags were gone, one glance identified them.

It would be a miracle to catch them.
