A strange-looking dagger wrapped in red cloth lay inside the chest. Its tip was as sharp as a needle, while strange patterns resembling branches of lightning covered its blade.
The moment Daniel gripped it tightly, the patterns began to glow with a faint yellow light, flickering as though they were alive.
"Far," he murmured, activating his ability.

Name: kronosh
Type: Weapon
Rarity: Rare
Durability: 78%
Description: A dagger known for its exceptionally sharp, piercing tip, designed for close-quarters combat.
After ten consecutive stabs, its special effect activates, inflicting additional poison damage on the target.
If wielded by a lightning user, the dagger can channel lightning attacks through its blade, concentrating the electrical force into its tip and delivering it directly into the target’s body — making it a reliable weapon for taking down large targets, but it is less effective against heavily armored creatures.

"Awesome..." Daniel murmured, lifting the blade high as the lantern light reflected off its strange, branching patterns.
He carefully wrapped the dagger in the red cloth and shoved it into his Veil’s Pouch.
...
Half an hour later, he finally reached the last room. After checking it, he headed toward the exit leading to the stables. Holding a torch in his left hand, he walked through the dark tunnel.
Minutes later, he climbed up the ladder and emerged outside.
The sun was already dipping toward the horizon, casting the surroundings in fading light. A cold breeze brushed against his skin, carrying the faint smell of rain as dark clouds were gathering in the east.
Daniel glanced around before pulling himself fully out of the tunnel. He dusted off his pants and was about to walk away when a person wearing a black robe suddenly spotted him.
They both froze.
Their eyes locked.
Neither of them moved.
For a moment, the scene resembled a tense Western standoff. A gust of wind swept across the field, sending blades of grass dancing between them.
"Status," Daniel whispered, his eyes landing on the green bracelet wrapped around the stranger’s left wrist.

Name: Sherlon Bakrat
Age: 34
HP: 845/4600
Mana: 1390/5300
Description: An assassin who left the Knife Guild and now works as a part-time killer for money. He has honed his skills through years of experience and is highly proficient in close-quarters combat.

’This green bracelet... He’s one of the assassins. But why is he here?’ Daniel thought.
Seeing Sherlon’s low health gave Daniel a sense of superiority. If the assassin attacked him, Daniel believed he would have the upper hand. Even so, he kept his guard up.
"You’re alive? But how?" Sherlon asked in confusion, taking a cautious step forward.
Seeing him approach, Daniel raised his palm and channeled lightning into it.
"Stop. Stop right there. It won’t end well for you if you take another step," Daniel said his tone cold.
Sherlon immediately stopped and slowly lowered his hood, revealing his face. His tanned skin was marked by a long scar running across his cheek — the kind left behind by a blade.
He kept both hands raised, showing that they were empty.
"Okay, okay. I’ll stop." He paused. "But how did you survive?" Sherlon asked again.
"That’s none of your business."
Daniel kept the lightning crackling in his palm, ready to strike at a moment’s notice.
After months of practicing lightning control, he could now maintain the lightning in his palm for far longer than when he had first started training.
"Tell me. Why are you here?" Daniel asked.
A brief silence settled between them as the wind swept across the field. Sherlon reached into his sleeve and pulled out a small pouch.
The crackling of lightning in Daniel’s palm filled the silence as Sherlon met his gaze.
"Look, I’m no threat, young man. My name is Sherlon. And yes, I killed those people, but that doesn’t mean I enjoy killing. I kill for a living. I’m an assassin. That’s my profession."
Sherlon then reached into the pouch and pulled out a small white sphere, roughly the size of a marble. Its surface had a strange, chalk-like texture.
"What’s that? What is it?" Daniel asked, his tone sharp, eyes narrowing.
"Hey, hey, easy, easy young man. I’m not in any condition to fight," Sherlon said nervously, raising his free hand.
The pressure Daniel gave off, combined with the lightning crackling in his palm, made one thing painfully clear to him — if Daniel attacked, a single strike could kill him.
"I’m sure you know a man named Klaus, right?" Sherlon asked, his tone cautious.
"I don’t know what you’re talking about," Daniel replied.
Hearing that, Sherlon narrowed his eyes, suspicion flickering across his face.
"There’s a man far more dangerous than you can imagine, and this is the only thing that can stop him. We don’t have much time. You have to trust me."
The urgency in Sherlon’s voice made Daniel hesitate.
After all, a person in such a weakened state had little reason to lie when a single attack could end his life.
...
Sherlon told Daniel everything he knew — the story of how he had worked as an independent assassin for various contractors, how he had met Klaus and eventually started working for him, how they had cornered and poisoned Zane before killing the Exil Commander.
Now, however, Sherlon wanted nothing more than Klaus’s head.
"I see," Daniel murmured. "But that doesn’t mean I trust you completely. For now, the only thing we have in common is that you and I have the same target."
"Great. Then we should work together," Sherlon replied, their eyes locked.
"We’ll work together for now. But don’t mistake that for trust," Daniel said.
Sherlon gave a small nod. "Fair enough. Trust can come later."
Daniel hurled the lightning into the sky and crossed his arms.
’Can I even trust this guy?’ he wondered.
...
"Here, catch this."
Sherlon tossed the small white ball toward Daniel.
"If you grind this ball into powder and use it on someone with elemental powers, it can temporarily suppress their abilities."
