Leveling Up by Executing Monsters

Chapter 116: The Diabolical Advisor

Chapter 116: Chapter 116: The Diabolical Advisor

Even though the good news outweighed the bad, Captain Fox wasn’t happy in the slightest. You could practically feel his worried frown through his mask.

He dropped a piece of chocolate into his coffee cup and, while swirling it, asked:

"What about the witnesses? Did you get anything else out of the interrogations?"

The subordinate shook his head and answered:

"No... The earliest witnesses—the boatman, the child, the robbers—all gave completely different accounts. Some said the suspect was a young woman in a gorgeous long dress; some said he was dressed like a student; and others said he looked like a pretty boy with delicate skin, fresh out of prison...

As for the sex worker, the one who spent the most time with the suspect, she insisted he was a middle-aged gentleman in a bowler hat and monocle, and that he was captivated by her charm the moment they met."

As he spoke, he also pulled a few sugar cubes from his pocket and dropped them into his coffee. Then, as if performing a magic trick, he produced a silver spoon and began to stir slowly. He lowered his voice and asked:

"Since the accounts don’t match up, should we try Spirit Communication?"

The moment he finished speaking, he felt a sharp gaze from the man opposite him, startling him.

’Spirit Communication, of course, can only be used on the dead, and those witnesses are all still alive...’

Then, he heard the captain’s low-voiced warning:

"We can be overbearing, even tyrannical, but we can never cross the line."

"Yes, I’ll remember."

"*Sigh...*"

The captain sighed, shook his head, and continued speaking.

"Now I have some good news and bad news for you... The bad news is, our vacation is probably off the table."

"What? I already promised my girlfriend I’d take her to the City of Joy once this mission was wrapped up..."

"Then perhaps you should consider getting a new girlfriend? In any case... our mission is to track down outlaws involved in the [Twist] Taboo System. The Dawn Hermit Association we wiped out was nothing but surface-level bait. We’re a long way from finishing this mission, I’m afraid..."

"And the good news?"

"The good news is, someone else will be joining us in running around like headless chickens. And a master, no less. The suspect’s power is clearly beyond our Ability Domain. It’s highly likely he’s the legendary ’Advisor.’"

"That..."

The moment he heard the title "Advisor," the young team member couldn’t help but shiver. Not even the steaming coffee in his hands could fend off the chill that surged through his heart.

The Advisor was a monstrously evil, insidious, cunning, and vicious super-criminal. He ranked fifth on the grand bounty list, and his accumulated bounty from various sources had already surpassed nine figures.

His list of crimes included, but was not limited to: crimes against humanity, antisocial behavior, mass murder, poisoning, dissemination of dangerous knowledge, murdering Sect members, and orchestrating terrorist attacks.

Furthermore, he colluded with numerous nefarious organizations, where he was revered with titles such as "Mentor" and "Saint."

He had operated in multiple cities, with crime records in all six of the currently existing ones. Naturally, this led to a joint warrant for his arrest from all six Sects, in addition to numerous civilian factions and individuals. He was, without a doubt, public enemy number one.

According to street rumors, this monster was at least at the Eighth Tier of power and was infinitesimally close to becoming a Saint. Many believed he was the strongest individual below the Saints.

But no one knew the true extent of his power, or even which system he belonged to. Everyone who had ever crossed swords with him had failed to escape with their life...

Likewise, nobody knew his age, appearance, or even his gender. The first time his name appeared on a wanted list, Radiant City hadn’t even been built yet...

So it wasn’t just the young agent; even Captain Fox himself had never imagined this mission would lead them to such a legendary villain.

But judging from the evidence at the scene, the witness testimonies, and the results of the Divination, everything was remarkably similar to the Advisor’s style.

Especially the fact that not a single person in that reservoir had died—that was signature Advisor.

Although the monster was incomparably cruel and dangerous, he had a strange aversion to harming civilians.

Based on the current intelligence, the monster was immensely arrogant and proud, disdaining to bully the weak who had no power to resist.

At the same time, he seemed to view civilians as a kind of resource, one he liked to use to concoct his evil schemes.

In short, as much as he hated to believe it, all the current leads pointed to this man. And so, Captain Fox could only deliver this piece of "good news."

"Captain, that’s just plain bad news, isn’t it?"

the agent said with a sigh. You could almost see his miserable expression through his fox mask.

"That’s why I suggested you find a new girlfriend."

the captain said, taking a sip of his coffee. Then he spat.

Ptooey! So bitter!

"Sis, don’t rush. There’s still time. Be careful not to choke."

Lloyd stood at the vanity, hurriedly combing his sister’s hair while trying to calm her down.

"Mmph! Mmph!"

Evelor, with a small cake dangling from her mouth, could only let out muffled whimpers.

In her hand, she held a silky white stocking. With one flawless foot held high in the air, she was busy trying to pull it on.

As the stocking crept up her firm, shapely leg, she continuously smoothed the lustrous white fabric, making sure the threads were perfectly even.

Finally, she pinched the tip of the stocking, aligning her toes with the seam. This made the fabric even more transparent, revealing the cute, pearl-like toes within.

The reason for this frantic rush was that Evelor had woken up late.

Lloyd was supposed to wake her, but remembering how exhausted she looked last night, he decided to let her sleep in. He just knocked on her door before running to the kitchen to heat up the desserts they’d bought the previous evening.

But by the time the desserts were warm, Evelor still hadn’t gotten out of bed.

Growing anxious, Lloyd had no choice but to burst into his sister’s room.

Only then did Evelor slowly stir. With sleepy eyes, she nuzzled the Hammerhead Shark Puppet in her arms. When she saw her brother standing in the doorway, she smiled gently. Her eyes, still heavy with sleep, narrowed into a sultry gaze.

Then she stretched her arms out to Lloyd, as if wanting him to pick her up.

That smile and gesture, combined with her youthful appearance, was exceptionally captivating and alluring.

Lloyd could only hurry over, pluck her from the bed like a kitten, and plop her down in front of the vanity. He then dashed off to grab a hot towel to wipe her face, before deftly stuffing a small cake into her mouth.

Only then did Evelor finally start to wake up properly. When she noticed the time, she nearly jumped out of her skin in a panic.
