Leveling Up by Executing Monsters
Chapter 205: You’ve Learned to Sneak Attack, Too?Chapter 205: Chapter 205: You’ve Learned to Sneak Attack, Too?
Lloyd then briefly looked over the panel notifications.
The Spiritual Contamination from Elolo was still fluctuating. However, both its intensity and frequency showed a slight downward trend overall. This meant his body was gradually adapting.
The downward trend was just faint, meaning he was adapting very slowly—at least, slower than he did with the Karmic Demon.
’She really is a beautiful girl, full of mysteries...’
Lloyd mused for a moment before deciding to allocate his points.
He assessed his current situation, anticipated his future needs, and chose a different allocation strategy than before.
’Five points into Spiritual Power, five into inspiration, and five into Cognition. Add them!’

’Huh? Why did my reading progress on the *Book of Truth* increase?’
’I clearly remember my reading progress on the *Book of Truth* was still at 20% before I fell asleep last night. How did it mysteriously jump by three percent after I woke up?’
’But I’m not sure what specific action caused it to go up. Was it my "visit" to Elolo? Or leaving that bottle of liquid metal in the Thought Realm? Or maybe the *Book of Truth* did something on its own while I was sleeping?’
Lloyd quickly searched his memories to see if anything had appeared out of thin air, but he came up with nothing. He hadn’t gotten any smarter from the increased reading progress.
’I wonder what part of the book I even "read"...’
...
"Lloyd? Is something on your mind?"
Lloyd had just met Weiya at the subway entrance, and before he could even take her hand, he heard her ask this question out of the blue.
Feeling a little guilty, he denied it:
"What? No..."
"Lloyd, do you know you’re a terrible liar?"
Weiya shot him a glare and took off her black silk gloves. She scooped up the little kitten, placed it on her head, and then took the initiative to take Lloyd’s hand, lacing their fingers together, palms pressing warmly against each other.
Lloyd had planned on protesting a bit more, but her actions made him cave. He could only ask with a sigh of resignation:
"Fine, how could you tell?"
"When you used to see me, you would always look at my face first, then sneak a peek at my legs... But just now, when you said ’good morning,’ you didn’t dare to look me in the eye."
Weiya explained, then asked:
"So, what’s bothering you? Can you tell me about it?"
"Yeah, I’ve run into a bit of a tricky situation. It’s... well, I have this friend, and she’s made her father angry..."
Lloyd then briefly explained Elolo’s situation, but he concealed many details, like Elolo’s origins, figure, and appearance.
The reason he had a guilty conscience around Weiya was because he’d spent the previous night in another beautiful girl’s room instead of sleeping. Not only had he seen her completely naked, he’d even passed out from exhaustion in there...
Even though it was to save her, he wasn’t a doctor, and he couldn’t quite justify it to himself.
Fortunately, Weiya didn’t read too much into it. After a moment of thought, she chose her words carefully and replied:
"Since you said her father is a High-ranking Powerhouse who seems very strict with her and won’t let her leave the house, wouldn’t it be best to resolve things through communication?"
"I agree, that would be best. It’s their family’s business, after all. But the problem is, her father has already confined her using some excessively strict method. As her friend, what can I do to help?"
"Maybe prepare some gifts and pay him a visit? Plead on her behalf? Or invite him to some important event? Hmm... you could also discuss it with her other friends? I’m an outsider, after all, so I can’t give you much advice."
"Yeah, I’ll think about it. Thanks, Weiya."
"Okay... now that we’re done with your issue, Lloyd, I have a couple of things to tell you, too."
Weiya stopped walking as she spoke, lowering her head.
’Huh? Is this it... Is she going to formally confess?’
’We’ve already held hands, and some things are just understood between us, but there hasn’t been a formal confession. It feels like a necessary step is missing. It’d be better to go through all the proper motions...’
While thinking this, Lloyd discreetly glanced around.
’Hmm, shady trees, a nice setting... There are no cherry blossom petals drifting down, but this is good enough. We’re not in an anime, after all.’
However...
Weiya hesitated for a good thirty seconds before she spoke, but it was about the official business from last night.
"The theft case has been properly resolved. The Grand Judge personally intervened, so I assume this kind of thing won’t happen again, right? So... I have to thank you for your timely help in recovering that shipment. Please allow me to thank you for your contribution on behalf of the Eighteenth District and the Holy Judgment Court."
Hearing her formal words, the romantic mood that had been building inside him instantly vanished.
’Damn it! I’d even figured out how I was going to respond, and this is what she talks about...’
But just as a wave of disappointment washed over him, he suddenly felt a soft, fragrant touch on his left cheek, and a tingle shot through his entire body.
’Did Weiya just... sneak a kiss?’
’Is this her way of thanking me?’
’Not bad at all, actually...’
"Hehe..."
Lloyd couldn’t help but grin.
A light blush crept onto Weiya’s cheeks, making her look even more captivating. Then, she spoke about the second matter in a low voice:
"I’m going to be away for about a week. Another Judge will be taking over my duties while I’m gone."
Hearing this, Lloyd’s hand instinctively tightened around Weiya’s. He quickly asked:
"What? You have to go away on official business too?"
"No, it’s not that. I’m planning to undergo my third Transcendence," Weiya explained.
The third Transcendence for the Veto system wasn’t something you could do safely in a comfortable room, isolated from the world. It was a live combat trial.
And the requirements were incredibly strict...
One had to, alone and under the influence of an Orbit, kill an uninjured Demon with a danger rating of at least 3, using only powers from the Veto system.
That meant no swords, no guns, no Holy Artifacts. No extra Orbits or even potions for assistance.
That made things extremely difficult...
After all, the Veto system’s powers lacked direct killing potential. Even a powerhouse like Big Brother had to rely on his Two-Handed Heavy Sword to deal with the Advisor.
The primary method of dealing damage was to enchant one’s weapons, and after "Vetoing" the enemy’s defenses, the power was quite significant.
So, being unable to use weapons made it a huge problem.
What’s more, at her current Tier Two, Weiya likely hadn’t mastered any "Damage Increase" skills yet. She was still at the stage of crowd control, and the direct damage from a Veto Declaration was extremely limited—roughly equivalent to being hit in the head with a hammer.
Killing a danger rating 3 Demon like that would be incredibly difficult. You’d have to just chip away at its health, bit by bit. That would require enough Spiritual Power to sustain the ability, enough Rationality to withstand the Spiritual Contamination, and the experience and skill to handle different kinds of Demons.
Luckily, the Chief Judge had pointed out a shortcut in his notes—
to specifically hunt down intangible Bizarre Derivatives to fulfill the trial’s requirements.
These Demons are similar to "Ghost Souls" or "undead"—purely spiritual beings without physical forms. A Veto Declaration is exceptionally effective against them; they can be taken down in just a few hits.
However, these Demons aren’t easy to find. There are likely none within the city, at least.
They are also incredibly dangerous. Taking advantage of their spiritual forms, they can appear and disappear without warning, making them impossible to defend against. The Spiritual Contamination they emit is also intense. Without the support of equipment or Orbits, they are extremely tricky to handle.
So, even though the Chief Judge had pointed out a shortcut, he still advised against taking it without absolute confidence and a thorough understanding of Bizarre Derivatives. Sticking to the slow and steady "chipping away" method was the safer bet.
"So... what kind of Demon are you planning to fight, Weiya?" Lloyd asked with great concern.
Weiya smiled and patted the back of his hand reassuringly.
"Don’t worry, my dad has arranged everything for me. It’s just a bit far away."
Although Weiya had never said exactly what her father did or whether he was an Extraordinary Being, clues from their conversations suggested he was no ordinary man to be trifled with. He was clearly a man of considerable means.
That reassured Lloyd a great deal.
’Then he thought of Elolo’s monstrous father...’
Lloyd grumbled internally, then asked:
"By the way, Weiya, didn’t you say you didn’t feel fully prepared and wanted to build up more experience before attempting the Transcendence? Why the sudden hurry?"
A smile that was both sweet and a little resigned appeared on Weiya’s face as she explained:
"I haven’t dared to tell my dad about us yet. He... he still thinks I’m a child and is pretty against... well, dating. So I figured if I can break through to Tier Three as soon as possible, it might change his perspective, you know?"
’Er... so Weiya’s dad really is a formidable "final boss"!’
Lloyd couldn’t help but recall that strange dream...
And in the brief moment he was lost in thought, he felt a soft, fragrant touch on his right cheek.
Weiya had stolen another kiss...
"Heehee, when I get back, I’ll tell Dad about us, and then we can officially be together!"
Weiya said, her face flushed with anticipation.
