"Yes, an auction," Nathan replied.

Della looked at the image on the screen. The item in question was an old manuscript and the auction was set to happen in two days.

"How are we sure they are trustworthy?" She asked, her eyes lingering on the image.

"We aren’t," Nathan replied, checking the location for the auction. "If they try to pull a fast one. We have the item."

Della shook her head. "And if it’s too expensive?"

Nathan’s smile didn’t waver. "My sponsor can handle it."

Della’s eyes narrowed. "You keep mentioning this sponsor. Who are they? What grudge do they have with Specter?"

"I don’t know," Nathan said, meeting her gaze." Funny thing, I was wondering the same thing about you."

"Me?" Della asked, surprised.

"Yes. I mean is there some personal reason? Did he mess up your life at some point?"

Della’s expression flickered for a moment before she looked away. "It’s none of your business."

Nathan didn’t press."Fine. Keep your secrets."

Della straightened herself. "I’m coming with you."

Nathan raised an eyebrow. "To the auction?"

"Yes, so I can watch you," Della said, looking away.

Nathan looked her up and down, a smirk tugging at his lips. "Do you have a dress and mask?"

Della frowned. "What?"

"For the auction," he said, turning his laptop to show the details he found online. "The auction requires buyers to wear masks."

Della lowered her gaze to confirm. "So it’s somewhat anonymous."

Nathan nodded. "Which is why I’m asking if you have something appropriate to wear."

Della frowned. "I have a dress but I don’t have a mask. I can get one if that’s the case."

Nathan’s smile widened. "So it’s a date then?"

Della’s eyes narrowed. "It is not a date." She let out a sigh and looked down at his leg.

"What do you plan to do about your anklet?"

"I can have it off that day or go in with it," Nathan scrolled on his laptop. "From what I can see, it’s not exactly a strict event."

Della thought about it for some moments before nodding in agreement.

Nathan smiled. "So am I picking you up or?"

"I’ll be picking you up," Della quickly replied. "And you better be ready."

Nathan didn’t offer a response as he closed his laptop. "I have a request."

"Which is?"

"Could you help me check on my family or assign an officer watch my sister."

Della’s expression softened for a moment. "Depends. Why?"

Nathan played the recording from the club with his friends. As Della listened, her facial expression slowly shifted into disgust.

She turned to Nathan. "I’m sorry but despite what the recording alludes to. It won’t be enough to get an officer to watch her."

There was no change in Nathan’s expression as he let his shoulders drop. "Figures."

"But if you need someone to watch her," Della said, resting her chin on her hands. "I know a guy."

Nathan raised an eye. "Are they trustworthy?"

"Yes, Sadly they are motivated by money but I don’t think that’s an issue for your sponsor," Della said.

"Not at all," Nathan replied.

"Very well. I’ll talk to him and send his details later."

"Thank you."

There was an awkward silence where neither of them had anything else to say.

Nathan decided to break it. "We’ve been talking all these while and I didn’t offer you something to eat or drink." He got up.

"That won’t be necessary," Della said, getting up too. "I have to get back to the precinct."

Nathan shrugged. "So how do I keep in touch? Any social media you prefer using?"

Della raised an eyebrow. "Social media?"

"Yes. I can’t exactly send texts unless it’s burner phones."

"Oh," Della muttered at the realization. "We can make calls. I’ll write my number."

She reached into her vest and brought out a small notebook and a pen, scribbled her number and handed it to Nathan.

He took it and soon after, the detective left.

An hour later, his phone buzzed with a message.

[@ISimpForLadyMight: I found a place. Want to check them out?]

Nathan smiled.

[Yeah. Send me the address.]

He grabbed his jacket and other essentials and left the hotel.

---

The property was located on the outskirts of Arkis, far from the noise and lights of the city.

A long gravel road led to a building that had once been a warehouse. The structure was already rusting but stood solid.

Moe walked the perimeter, which was mostly surrounded by trees, and Nathan trailed behind him.

"Most of it is in order except for the roof but I’m assuming you don’t intend to live here?" Moe asked.

"No I don’t," Nathan replied. "I’ll take it."

Moe blinked. "You don’t want to see the inside?"

"I have faith in your recommendations." Nathan said and pulled out his phone. "You’re sure this place is quiet? If I was to yell no one would hear?"

"Yes," Moe replied.

Nathan thought about it. "What’s the total for everything? Property, documents and the likes."

"Around eight hundred and thirty grand. You can use your incognito finance account for the transfer," Moe said.

Nathan nodded.

’What are my account balances’

The golden screen appeared.

[System Balance: $32,188,800.31]

[Stone River Acct: $550]

[Incognito Finances: $400,000]

’Send four thirty grand to incognito finances’

[Transfer Successful!]

’Account Balances’

[System Balance: $31,758,800.31]

[Incognito Finances: $830,000]

Nathan opened the platform page and logged in but just as he was about to send it, he stopped.

’Do the rebate tickets only work on one purchase or is there a criteria they meet? What are their limits’

[They have a time based limit. They’ll only rebate the total amount spent in the last ten minutes]

Nathan nodded. A part of him was curious about testing it but he wanted maximum returns from it. He turned to Moe.

"Theo informed me you don’t deal in weapons?"

"No I don’t," Moe replied.

"What about hired hands? To do grunt work, no killing involved."

Moe’s expression didn’t waver. "I know a few. Do you want their services?"

"Yes but not yet," Nathan replied. "I can make a down payment. Let’s say a mill?"

Moe nodded. "That works."

Nathan looked at Moe, noting how he never asked too many questions.

"Do you mind if I toss in a hundred grand for you? It’s all yours," Nathan said.

Moe’s eyes lit up. "Of course not. It means I can get some more Lady Might merch."

Nathan raised an eyebrow. "If you don’t mind me asking. What are your intentions for her?"

"Intentions?"

"I mean, are you planning on dating her or... "

"Oh, none of that. Just seeing her exist is enough for me," Moe said with a serious tone.

Nathan raised a hand to speak but decided against it. He transferred to the incognito account and sent Moe the payment for everything.

[Spent: $1,930,000]

[Rebate (2x) : $3,860,000]

[System Balance : $35,618,800.31]

Nathan stared at the screen. He quickly opened an NFT marketplace and bought three overpriced ones totalling two point four million dollars.

[Spent: $2,450,000]

[Rebate (2x): $4,900,000]

[System Balance : $38,068,800.31]

Satisfied, Nathan issued the command.

’Use the 3x rebate ticket’

[Total Spent: $3,880,000]

[Rebate (3x): $11,640,000]

[System Balance : $49,708,800.31]

Nathan’s eyes widened at the balance change. He would have exclaimed if Moe wasn’t standing close by.

Moe handed him the burner phones he had asked for and they both went their separate ways.

---

The drive back to the city was quiet. Nathan scrolled through TiikTuk, half-watching the city blur past.

Then a notification popped up. It was Catherine’s.

His chest tightened for a moment. For a moment, he wondered if he should ask how she was doing but decided against it.

He opened the message.

[Hey sir platinum🌟 . I’m almost done with the piece and wanted to know if you wanted it delivered?]

Nathan sent a response.

[Of course. Let me know when it’s done and I’ll send the details.]

The typing indicator appeared for almost a minute. Nathan watched it animate, waiting for a long block of text.

Instead, all he got was a single star emoji and two words.

[Got it🌟]

Nathan sent a thumbs up reaction. It had been days since his sir platinum persona made an appearance.

By now the buzz on the topic had died and the notifications on his account had dropped. He stared out of the window of the cab.

Maybe it was time he made an appearance again.

----

On the other end of the screen Catherine let out a sigh, her shoulders slumping with the action.

She had crafted a lengthy text, asking if Sir Platinum would like to discuss personal matters.

His life and how she had lost her brother. She had typed and deleted the message several times but ultimately settled on not sending it entirely.

She closed the chat and laid on her bed, looking at the ceiling.

Her thoughts raced on various things she could do until she finally settled in something.

"Maybe I should stream tonight."
