Limitless Summoner System

Chapter 41: Sophie’s Parents

The two woke up and enjoyed each other one more time before Sophie got ready in Tyler’s apartment. He wondered if and when they would move in with him. It’d certainly be more cost efficient and practical.

"Sophie, how would you feel about upgrading to a 3 bedroom luxury apartment?" He asked while she was doing her make up.

She thought about it for a few minutes.

"With Kass and Amanda right?" She smiled.

"Yes of course. At least that way we’d have more space for everyone’s things and if our friends wanted to stay it wouldn’t be so difficult. I know it’s only been two months, but if you ladies are gonna stay with me anyway, I think it would be a wise investment. I’ll pay for it. Don’t worry."

"Awwww you know my family can afford it. The apartments aren’t cheap."

"How much would it be for a year and could I get out of my lease on this one?"

"Talk to the person up front if you’re interested. Ask the other girls first but I’d be willing but it’ll probably be around 30,000 credits."

"Ok I can afford that." He smiled nervously.

She frowned. "Babe, is it because of your parents? I’m so sorry you lost them and we’re going to meet mine. We really don’t have to."

He stood up and gently massaged her back.

"You’re very thoughtful but I had the best parents anyone could ever ask for. I’m sad they’re gone, but yes, they took care of me. The least I can do is take care of the three of you."

"I love you. Thank you so much!" She turned excitedly and hugged him.

"Ok so hopefully my parents are not assholes to you."

"I’ll be fine. It’ll go well, I know it." He reassured her.

Sophie’s phone rang. Her parents were waiting downstairs in the lobby. They walked down hand in hand, smiling and talking. Tyler recognized them right away. Her mom looked young but he knew she was in her mid forties. The resemblance was uncanny and it gave him a good talking point.

"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Grace. I certainly see where she gets her beauty from, you both look great!"

Sophie was surprised they smiled. Her dad shook his hand and Tyler made sure to match his grip. Her jaw slightly dropped when he went in and hugged her mom, who laughed while looking at him.

"My goodness you are handsome," Mrs. Grace said, enjoying Tyler’s hug.

"Good handshake too. Sophie told us you lost your parents. I’m sorry to hear that. I don’t know what we’d do if we lost our only child," he frowned.

"You won’t sir. She’s in good hands, always."

"Then why do you date other women?" He asked bluntly, with no facial expression or read Tyler could pick up.

Tyler didn’t flinch. He continued smiling and speaking kindly, like he always did.

"I’m not the only person who loves and takes care of her. It was their idea and she’s done so many great things for the two other women and me. I wanted to keep things casual after a long term relationship ended with my no ability girlfriend 2000 miles away. Now I’d say we have a happy, serious relationship where the other women, her friends, my familiars and my friends all look out for her, not that she needs it. She’s so talented." Tyler spoke eloquently yet excitedly.

The couple turned and shared a smile.

"Sophie, sorry for giving you such a hard time. It seems you have a great young man and we will support your decision. Now who’s hungry?" Mr. Grace asked.

Sophie teared up and rushed over and hugged her dad. "Thank you so much dad!"

Then her mom. "You too. I love you both so much."

"We love you two sweetheart. We picked your favorite restaurant."

"Yes!" Sophie said excitedly while grabbing Tyler’s hand. "You’re going to love it!"

They sat in the back, holding hands talking about the school year with her parents on the ride to Vespa, which wasn’t far. Over dinner her parents were impressed with his grades, attitude and overall demeanor. They weren’t expecting such an honest, nice young man.

Tyler talked about real stories while leaving out football. He had plenty of them from his high school life on earth and it was easy for people who didn’t use abilities to get sucked into a world they didn’t know.

He said he lost his parents in a car crash, which wasn’t a lie. It just was the other way around in his world. His parents lost him, but that didn’t mean he didn’t suffer the same pain internally.

When he picked up the check, her parents politely refused. Sophie smiled and enjoyed every second of their date with her parents. Never in her wildest dreams did she expect them to be so nice and caring. They went over to her house afterwards and Tyler admired the photo album her parents showed him.

"She was a cheerleader? No way!" Tyler said cheerfully while running his hand over the digital album. "You looked so cute!"

Sophie blushed and rolled her eyes. "Suuuuure. How come I never see any pictures of a younger you?"

Tell her you wish you had some to show her but didn’t bring any and if you ever go back to your hometown, have your system download them. Say your hair and eye color changed when you became a summoner. Maybe she’ll believe you now. You told her when you met her you just recently learned you became a summoner," Ash exclaimed.

"If we ever visit my hometown, I will gladly show you some! You wouldn’t believe it, but I used to have blonde hair and blue eyes before I became a summoner. That’s when I got my dark hair and green eyes. I wasn’t lying when I met you!" He explained calmly.

Sophie blushed. "You really did just learn your ability. I’m so sorry!"

"For what sweetheart? Not believing someone who had a cut on their head?" He chuckled while giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"She told us about that. You’re lucky she didn’t kick your ass!" Mr. Grace laughed.

"I’m sure she would! Could you please stop telling her anything below S is a failure? It makes all of us feel bad and we’ve met Bahamut and Asura." Tyler asked kindly, eyes filled with emotion.

"Really?" Mrs. Grace gasped. "My little girl has met a god and goddess?!"

"Yes and they love her. She’s top 200 in dueling, finished the highest rank any first year has, and she even outperformed me and I carry three mythological familiar and a master ranked. They’re all Eidolons."

Mr. Grace’s face lit up and his grin was huge.

"Impressive boyfriend you have my dear." He grinned widely.

"Sophie, you are an amazing daughter and as long as you stay motivated, we’ll try to be less hard on you and do a better job acknowledging your accomplishments."

She started crying. "That’s all I’ve ever wanted. Thank you so much."

Her parents got up and hugged her.

"It’s Sebastian." Mr. Grace said to Tyler. "You don’t have to refer to me by my last name."

"Susan or Susie."

"Thank you both so much for the amazing day."

Sophie’s parents took them back to the school to drop Tyler off. They gave Sophie a minute with him. She was going to spend a few days home.

"You are so amazing Tyler. I love you so much."

"Not as amazing as you and I love you just as much." He said while kissing her.

"I’ll ask the other girls about the apartment. I think after winter break would be a good time." She smiled.

"Sounds good. I’ll talk to the office. I’ll see you soon sweetheart."

He opened the door, thanked her parents and waved goodbye.

Her parents were nice to her the rest of the week and treated her like a princess. She couldn’t believe the change and how much Tyler improved her life in such a short amount of time.

She texted him after the second night at home, early in the morning. She already texted Kass the night before and talked with her about it.

"Thank you so much. I hope you and Kass are having fun but my parents are so much different. You mean the world to me." She added a heart emoji at the end.

She was pleasantly surprised how quickly he responded.

"And you mean the world to me. Kass says she misses you and is glad things are better with your parents. Glad you told her. Love you babe."

She stared at her phone screen. ’I love them all so much. Why do I feel so strongly so soon? Two months and he’s completely changed my life. So have the girls.’

All of them knew the answer. Spending that much time together and watching someone almost die brings anyone close and they didn’t plan on losing him anytime soon, nor did they plan on losing each other.
