Chapter 166: Late Night Visit to Xian Xue

Solomon blinked and tilted his head. ’What is this guy even talking about?’

He completely failed to understand the romantic implication, yet he absolutely despised receiving orders from anyone.

"If your job is to protect her, then just focus on doing that," Solomon shot back. He planted his boots firmly against the stones and glared at the operative. "Mind your own business and stop trying to tell me what I can and cannot do. What are you going to do if I ignore you? Trap me in your little shadow domain again?"

Corvus maintained his calm demeanor and shook his head. "I will not do anything to you."

The operative raised a gloved finger and pointed directly at the floating bronze owl.

"However, you should keep in mind that you live stream everything you do," Corvus warned. "One of those silent viewers watching your screen right now might just be a higher-up from the royal family."

Solomon shrugged off the warning. He lacked any reason to care about unseen nobles judging his actions through a crystal lens.

"Are all the spies taken care of?" Solomon asked, resting his hands in his pockets. "Did you find any other leads?"

Corvus let out a quiet breath. "I did not expect the spies to be hiding among the first-year students. That oversight is my mistake, and I take full responsibility for that."

"We identified exactly twenty-nine spies tonight," Solomon pointed out. "I still think there is one more spy hiding in the sect."

Corvus tilted his hooded head. "Why do you think that?"

"Because twenty-nine is an odd number," Solomon answered.

"A truly profound deduction," Corvus remarked with a sarcastic drawl. "Even if your mathematical theory is correct, that final spy is at their wit’s end right now. They would never risk revealing themselves or doing something stupid that might get them captured."

Solomon nodded in agreement. The remaining traitor would definitely stay underground to survive the purge.

"What about Chenric?" Solomon asked. "He funded this entire operation."

"The city council already captured him," Corvus replied. "They are currently interrogating him in the capital. He is most likely just a middleman or a funder. There is zero need for him to involve himself directly with the actual cult rituals."

Solomon sighed and kicked a loose pebble across the cobblestones. "These evil sects really ruin everything. They have terrible practices, and they interrupted a perfectly good night of sleep."

Corvus stepped backward into the shade of the oak tree. The shadows swallowed him whole, leaving Solomon alone in the courtyard.

It was finally time to visit Xian Xue. Her private quarters were located up on the female dormitory cliff, boasting an unobstructed view of the surrounding valleys.

Solomon navigated the winding stone steps leading up the mountain. He admired the beautiful night sky and the glowing lanterns reflecting off the distant lakes.

[James_hayes: bro is actually doing the side quest.]

[Mezz_3863: Solo Man walking into the lion’s den for us. respect.]

[Fatal_Beauty: I cannot believe he is actually going to her room.]

[1Fizzy: the night view is gorgeous though.]

[Chi_Master: focus on the mission Solo Man!]

He reached the polished wooden doors of her residence and knocked twice. The door opened a few seconds later. Xian Xue stood in the doorway wearing a flowing, translucent nightdress. A fragrant scent of jasmine and lotus flowers drifted from her skin. Solomon instinctively took a deep breath, enjoying the pleasant aroma.

The chat interface immediately spiraled into total chaos.

[GoonLord: BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK!]

[IceWaterKat: OH MY GOD HER OUTFIT!]

[LazyCat: Solo Man is blushing!]

[Grim: bro took a whole sniff!]

[M00N: RIP to Elizabeth’s chances.]

[Foodball: WE ARE FEASTING TONIGHT BOYS!]

[BloodKnight: A warrior must remain vigilant against honey traps.]

Xian Xue smiled and stepped aside, gesturing for him to enter. Solomon walked inside and glanced around the pristine living space. Elegant silk tapestries decorated the walls, alongside polished jade ornaments resting on wooden shelves.

"Go wait for me on the balcony," Xian Xue said, pointing toward the open glass doors.

Solomon followed her instructions. The balcony sat directly over the edge of the cliff. The view from this elevation showcased the entire Azure Dragon Sect bathed in moonlight. A carved wooden table and two chairs occupied the center of the terrace. Solomon took a seat and stretched his legs out.

A few seconds later, Xian Xue walked out holding a silver tray. She placed a unique porcelain kettle and two matching cups onto the table. Sitting opposite him, she gracefully poured a steaming, amber liquid into the cups.

Solomon looked at the beverage. The herbal aroma smelled just as inviting as her perfume.

"What is this?" Solomon asked, inspecting the amber surface.

"It is a specialized herbal tea elixir," Xian Xue explained. "I brewed it using spirit ginseng, crushed moon-lotus petals, and a few rare restorative ingredients."

[Dark_Skies: that is definitely a love potion.]

[2Lazy2Care: do not drink it Solo Man!]

[Austin: aphrodisiac confirmed.]

[Stephen-Wood: bro is about to get drugged.]

[Last_Fables: drink it! for science!]

[Yazukoto: I bet 500 points he falls asleep.]

Solomon picked up the cup and took a small sip. He genuinely liked the rich, earthy taste and nodded in approval. "This is really good."

Xian Xue picked up her own cup and drank quietly. She noticed Solomon’s gaze looking at the beautiful scenic view and smiled.

"Beautiful, isn’t it?" she asked.

"Indeed. Nature is beautiful."

"And yet, there are evil people who want to destroy the world for their own greed."

"Same thing everywhere."

She set the porcelain down and locked her gaze onto his face.

"Is the rumor actually true?" Xian Xue asked. "Did you really fight Pavilion Leader Jin and win?"

Solomon shrugged his shoulders and took another sip of his tea. "I never spread that news around the sect. If Jin is not denying the rumors, it must be true."

Xian Xue leaned forward over the table. She looked at him intensely, her eyes tracing the lines of his jaw and the breadth of his shoulders.

"Strip," Xian Xue commanded.
