Solomon navigated the winding stone paths back to his assigned quarters. The moonlight illuminated the cobblestones while the floating bronze owl followed closely behind him. The translucent blue interface instantly flooded with scrolling text.
[James_hayes: bro fumbled the easiest VIP quest in history.]
[1Fizzy: you are actually so dense!]
[Fatal_Beauty: she literally offered herself and you asked for perfume!]
[Mezz_3863: Solo Man misses every single hint.]
[Chi_Master: the fumble of the century.]
Solomon glanced at the camera lens and sighed. "I am not dense. I understood exactly what she meant. I just did not think it was serious enough. There were zero real feelings behind her offer."
He adjusted the leather strap across his chest and continued walking. "I just met her today. I do not want to get involved with someone I barely know. Temporary pleasure is worth nothing in the long run."
[Austin: bro has standards.]
[Foodball: respectable but still a missed opportunity.]
[Grim: what about Lune then?]
[M00N: or Elizabeth?]
[Stephen-Wood: yeah you spent time with both of them!]
Solomon read the names of the two royals and clamped his mouth shut. He offered absolutely no response to the chat. He simply ignored the screen and focused on reaching his dormitory.
He pushed the wooden door open and walked into his room. He unstrapped Eden’s Penance and placed the greatsword on the floorboards. Fortunately, the continuous battles against the cultists and the corrupted commander had drained enough of his stamina tax to make his muscles ache. He fell face-first onto the mattress and fell asleep within minutes.
When Solomon woke up, morning sunlight flooded through the window. He washed his face, dressed in a fresh blue uniform, and grabbed his weapon. He walked out of the dormitories and joined the large flow of disciples heading toward the central gathering area, known as the Plaza of Azure Judgment.
He spotted a familiar group near the stone fountain and walked over to them. Marco and Maximus stood next to Arthur.
"How is your neck?" Solomon asked, inspecting the bandage wrapped around Arthur’s throat.
Arthur pushed his spectacles up the bridge of his nose and smiled. "I am perfectly fine. The cut was very small. You rescued me at the exact right time, so the poison did not spread into my veins."
"That is good to hear." Solomon nodded.
Suddenly, a loud bell chimed across the plaza. The students quickly formed organized lines across the cobblestones. The female disciples stood in neat rows on the right side of the courtyard, while the boys gathered on the left.
The faculty marched out from the main hall in a strict hierarchical order. The junior instructors arrived first, followed by the senior instructors and the elder instructors. Pavilion Leader Jin walked next, displaying a calm demeanor despite the events of the previous night. Vice Pavilion Leader Xian Xue trailed closely behind him.
Xian Xue turned her head and looked directly at Solomon. She smiled warmly from the corner of her lips.
Over in the girls’ formation, Elizabeth noticed the interaction. Her red eyes narrowed instantly, and she glared at the vice pavilion leader with obvious suspicion.
Finally, Master Wu stepped onto the elevated stone balcony overlooking the plaza. The grandmaster looked down at the seven hundred students and cleared his throat.
"The Sword Pavilion endured a coordinated infiltration last night," Master Wu projected his voice across the gathering. "The Nether Fiend Sect attempted to strike at our disciples. We acknowledge our shortcomings in preventing this breach."
Master Wu placed his hands on the stone railing. "The Azure Dragon Sect occupies a vast mountain range. Our geography makes sealing every single border nearly impossible. Furthermore, we maintain an open policy for outsiders and exchange disciples. This leniency allowed the cult to forge fake backgrounds and slip into our outer perimeter."
The grandmaster paused to let the words settle. "We discovered their plot in advance. We laid traps across the grounds and intentionally allowed their strike teams to enter. Our instructors and veteran guards operated from the shadows to protect the dormitories. Not a single student sustained a lethal injury."
Master Wu lowered his head slightly. "However, we made a grave blunder. We failed to anticipate that the cultists would recruit spies from within the first-year novice class. That oversight falls entirely on the faculty. The students affected by this ordeal will receive a generous compensation of spirit stones and academy points."
The first-year disciples whispered among themselves, relieved by the promised rewards.
"Many students fought back bravely," Master Wu continued. "We commend Marco Alfoy, Maximus Thunderstrike, and Princess Elizabeth for defending their peers. But one individual performed above and beyond expectations."
Master Wu looked directly at Solomon. "Solomon dismantled the cult’s affiliated underground arena in Tianfeng City. He destroyed their hidden branch temple. He neutralized their decoy extraction team before the main attack even began. The pavilion owes him a debt of gratitude."
[1Fizzy: Solo Man getting public praise!]
[James_hayes: the teachers finally recognize his carry.]
[Fatal_Beauty: bro literally did all the work.]
[Mezz_3863: W grandmaster.]
’Why no mention of Corvus?’ Solomon wondered. ’Is his identity or rather, his achievements kept secret? That doesn’t really make sense since he is also a second year LSA student. Maybe it’s about his appearance?’
Master Wu raised a hand to quiet the murmurs. "We will now return to our normal routines. The sparring schedules are adjusted to accommodate the repairs in the damaged courtyards. Academy disciples must remember to fulfill their monthly streaming quotas. The dining hall will serve extra portions of spirit beast meat today to aid in your physical recovery. The pavilion is fully secured, and the spies are detained. You have nothing left to worry about."
The grandmaster waved his sleeve to dismiss the assembly. The students bowed respectfully and dispersed toward the dining hall to claim their breakfast.
Solomon stayed behind in the emptying plaza. The elder instructors, Pavilion Leader Jin, Vice Pavilion Leader Xian Xue, and Master Wu remained near the front steps, waiting for him.
