Chapter 234: Discovering the Secret Chamber [Bonus - ]Chapter 234: Discovering the Secret Chamber [Bonus Chapter]
Solomon began his meticulous patrol through the sprawling palace ruins, relying entirely on his memorized layout of the Azure Moon Kingdom to guide him toward the deepest, most secure sections of the estate.
Solomon spent the next hour meticulously scouring the sprawling palace ruins. He indulged the chat, wandering into collapsed servant quarters, ruined kitchens, and shattered armories simply because a viewer thought a pile of rubble looked suspicious on the camera.
It didn’t bother him since he had to search every single inch of the estate regardless.
He honestly wanted to shorten the tedious process by unleashing his silver aura and completely obliterating the ruins until the indestructible vault exposed itself.
However, creating a explosion would instantly alert the Holy Knights camping just outside the walls, ruining his covert operation entirely.
After an hour of thoroughly searching the above-ground structures, Solomon came up completely empty-handed.
He leaned against a broken pillar and wiped a smear of dust from his face. ’This makes zero sense,’ he thought, furrowing his brow.
’The Azure Moon Palace is a flawless replica of this place. I already explored every single corridor and hidden passage back there with Lune. The vault has to be located in a specific area that was not replicated in the new palace. What am I missing here?!’
He pondered the architectural differences for a few moments. Then, a distinct memory clicked into place. During the grand masquerade banquet, while he was busy eating pastries and ignoring the dancing nobles, he had overheard a conversation between two aristocratic architects.
They were complaining about the construction of the royal tombs in the Azure Moon Kingdom, noting that the new palace could not support deep underground crypts due to the unstable bedrock and the high water table of the surrounding valley.
A wide smirk stretched across Solomon’s face. He grabbed the heavy leather strap of Eden’s Penance and hauled the massive executioner’s sword off his back.
"I think I know exactly where to look," Solomon muttered to the bronze owl.
He immediately began searching for descending pathways. He navigated down crumbling stone stairwells, squeezed through collapsed cellars, and ventured into the darkest, lowest levels of the ruins.
Whenever a collapsed ceiling or a pile of debris blocked a descending path, he simply coated his boots in silver aura and kicked the obstruction apart, digging deeper and deeper into the earth.
After thirty minutes of subterranean excavation, the rough, natural rock of the deep cellars abruptly transitioned into perfectly smooth, pristine black marble.
Solomon stepped into a wide, completely untouched corridor. At the very end of the hall stood a massive, monolithic pair of doors. The surface was entirely smooth, lacking any keyholes, handles, or visible hinges to pull them open.
He had found the royal vault.
[1Fizzy: BRO FOUND SOMETHING!]
[James_hayes: what is behind there?!]
[GoonLord: BUST IT OPEN SOLO MAN!]
[Brerell: the doors look so ominous.]
[Mezz_3863: loot time baby!]
Solomon tapped the pristine surface with his knuckles, ensuring the indestructible seal was active. Knowing exactly what he needed to do next, he turned to the camera lens and immediately began playing dumb.
"What exactly is this place?" Solomon asked, scratching the back of his head with a confused frown.
"I think I dug a little too deep and got myself completely lost. There are no handles on this door anyway. I should probably just get out of this basement and go meet up with Sir Gideon and the pavilion master."
[Tyler_Klare: bro do not leave!]
[M00N: break it open!]
[Zoomtech: you literally have a giant sword!]
[Foodball: Solo Man giving up too easily.]
Ignoring the desperate pleas of his chat, Solomon turned his back on the vault and navigated his way back up to the surface. He climbed out of the ruined cellars and made his way toward the outer boundary walls.
Just as he scaled the crumbling perimeter watchtower, he spotted two familiar figures cresting the mountain path in the distance. He waved his hand high in the air and jogged over to intercept them.
"What were you doing down there, Solomon?" Gideon asked, slightly out of breath as he leaned heavily on his broadsword.
"I was waiting for you guys to catch up," Solomon replied smoothly, pointing toward the sprawling valley outside the city walls. "I saw dozens of military camps pitched down the hill. I did not want to wander into a foreign army encampment entirely alone, so I figured I should wait for the heavily armored paladin."
Gideon chuckled at the logical reasoning and patted the boy’s shoulder. "A wise tactical decision. Let us go greet them."
The three of them regrouped and began their descent down the rocky slope, walking directly toward the white tents of the Holy Knights.
Meanwhile, down in the sprawling valley encampment, King Shen tossed restlessly on his cot. He clutched his chest, his face contorted in visible pain. He rolled across the hard mattress again and again until his eyes snapped open.
He jolted upright, his chest heaving as a cold sweat drenched his royal garments.
A local palace guard quickly rushed into the tent. "Your Majesty! Is everything alright?"
Another guard hurriedly fetched a wooden cup of fresh water, offering it to the panicked king.
Shen ignored the water. He pushed himself off the cot and stormed out of the tent, glaring at the morning sun. He looked around the section of the camp designated for the Azure Moon soldiers and grabbed the nearest guard by the shoulder.
"Has Ryu returned?" Shen demanded.
"No, Your Majesty," the guard responded nervously, bowing his head. "There has been no sign of the Prince."
Shen released the man and gritted his teeth, his royal composure fracturing completely. "It has been two agonizing weeks," he muttered furiously under his breath.
Without waiting for his escort, Shen marched aggressively toward the opposite side of the valley, heading straight for the white tents of the Holy Knights.
Two heavily armored crusaders immediately crossed their silver halberds to block his path. Shen completely ignored their warning. He shoved the heavy weapons aside with brute force and barged directly into the main command pavilion.
A dozen high-ranking Holy Knights stood around a large tactical map, discussing patrol routes and perimeter defenses. They stopped talking instantly, turning to stare at the intruding king in sheer surprise.
The two perimeter guards rushed into the tent a second later, bowing frantically. "We apologize, Captain Lancelot! He just barged right past us!"
The captain of the unit, a tall man possessing sharp features and pristine golden armor, raised a gauntleted hand to dismiss the apologizing guards.
Lancelot turned his attention to the furious king and offered a mockingly polite gesture toward a wooden chair.
"Please, King Shen, take a seat," Lancelot offered smoothly.
"I do not need to sit down," Shen snapped, his voice trembling with barely contained rage. "I want to know exactly when my son will return."
Lancelot sighed quietly. He stepped away from the tactical map and gestured for the king to follow him outside. The two leaders exited the command pavilion and walked toward the center of the encampment.
They stopped directly in front of a massive rift tearing through the very fabric of the air. The spatial anomaly pulsed with a sickening, shifting array of ominous purple and black colors.
"There are fourteen elite Holy Knights currently inside the spatial rift accompanying the Prince," Lancelot stated, keeping his gaze fixed on the anomaly. "He is surrounded by the finest crusaders of the Holy Empire. He will be perfectly fine."
"It has been two entire weeks!" Shen yelled, completely abandoning his royal decorum. "You have fed me that exact same excuse every single day! If anything happens to my son in there, there will be—"
"There will be absolutely nothing," Lancelot interrupted, his tone turning instantly cold and dangerous. "I must remind you, Your Majesty, that neither I nor my knights forced the Prince to step into that rift. He volunteered. You should not even entertain the thought of placing the blame on the Holy Empire for his own reckless choices."
"If you had not marched onto our sovereign borders and attempted to illegally claim our ancestral palace under the banner of the Holy Empire, we never would have traveled here in the first place!" Shen shouted, pointing a trembling finger at the captain. "None of this tragedy would have happened!"
Lancelot adjusted his golden gauntlets and offered a patronizing smile. "According to the divine laws and the sacred testaments of the Union, any ruined kingdom where a holy angel has descended rightfully belongs to the Holy Church. It is sacred ground, and—"
"That statement is entirely false," a resonant, booming voice interrupted the captain. "A commanding officer of the Holy Knights should be deeply ashamed to spout such blatant, manipulative lies."
Lancelot and King Shen spun around.
Sir Gideon strode into the encampment, his pristine platinum armor gleaming in the sunlight. Pavilion Master Yue walked gracefully beside him with her jade fan snapped open, while Solomon trailed slightly behind with his hands resting casually in his pockets.
Lancelot narrowed his eyes at the sudden intrusion, entirely unfamiliar with the trio.
King Shen, however, immediately recognized the golden-haired woman holding the jade fan. "Pavilion Master Yue?" Shen gasped, shock washing over his exhausted features. "What are you doing here?"
’So this is the King.’ Solomon glanced around. ’Well, he sure gives off the king vibe, but where is the prince? And what the fuck is a rift doing here? And why are the holy knights taking control of it?’ Solomon wondered.
