Chapter 253: Back to the Azure Dragon Sect

As the carriage rumbled forward into the night, Solomon leaned back against the plush cushions and mentally reviewed the staggering amount of progress he had achieved since arriving in the Martial World just a few weeks ago.

He had successfully learned and mastered a brand-new sword technique. He had grown significantly closer to his classmates, establishing genuine trust with Marco, Arthur, Maximus, and Elizabeth. His live stream viewership had skyrocketed, breaking academy records.

He had thoroughly enjoyed himself, fighting strong opponents in the underground arena, dismantling a cultist launch site, and clearing an A+ grade spatial rift. He even obtained the crystallized eyes of the Winter Snow Serpent as a rare boss drop.

He apparently also held the legal exploration rights to that very same rift, though he knew the academy administration would have to iron out those bureaucratic details later.

He had also successfully unlocked five of his seven aura cores, and Yue had promised to help him shatter the stubborn navel core the moment they returned to the sect.

On a much more personal level, he had spent quality time with Princess Lune. He recalled the quiet moments in the royal garden and the breathtaking kiss, even if she was the one who had kissed him.

But most importantly, he had successfully secured his second royal crown.

He patted the deep pocket of his uniform, feeling the hard edges of the crystallized divine gemstone. Eating it would grant him a second bloodline ability, pushing his overall strength to entirely new heights.

Since he needed focus to absorb the gem properly, he decided he would consume it safely back in his private dormitory at the Azure Dragon Sect. He also realized he needed to figure out a method to voluntarily enter and exit his inner mental world without relying on near-death experiences.

Finally, he felt the heavy leather book hidden beneath his shirt. He had secured the personal diary of the Heavenly Demon, a potentially massive clue regarding the evil sect’s true motivations.

’They are obviously not planning to literally revive that headless skeleton I found on the throne,’ Solomon reasoned, staring out the carriage window.

’There was no flesh left on those bones. Bringing that back would just be standard necromancy, creating a mindless puppet. The Heavenly Demon they want to revive must be a metaphorical title or an inherited power.’

He gazed out the window and stared up at the glowing full moon hanging in the night sky. It instantly reminded him of Lune. He wondered what she was doing right now back in the Lumiere capital, and if she was secretly watching his stream right before his owl was destroyed.

He recalled the bold promise he had made to her on the mountain bench. He had sworn to completely eradicate the evil sects from the Eastern Realms so she could return from her forced isolation.

’If I want to see her again anytime soon,’ Solomon thought, a fierce, determined spark lighting up his silver eyes, ’I need to start hunting those cultists down immediately.’

A while later, the carriage swerved slightly on the dirt road. Sir Kulbro, riding alongside the transport, noticed Commander Feng dozing off in the driver’s seat, his chin repeatedly dropping to his chest.

"Commander!" Kulbro called out, pulling his horse closer. "You should rest inside the carriage with Solomon and the Pavilion Master. I will take over the reins for the night. You can resume driving in the morning while I sleep. That way, we can travel continuously without needing to set up camp, and we can simply eat our prepared rations on the move."

Feng blinked groggily and nodded in relief, too exhausted to argue about his wounded pride.

Everyone agreed to the logistical shift.

Feng climbed into the spacious cabin. Since the commander needed enough room to lay completely flat on the cushions to sleep, Solomon stood up from his spot and moved to the opposite bench, taking a seat directly beside Yue.

A few hours into the smooth ride, the rocking of the carriage finally lulled Yue to sleep. She swayed gently with the motion of the transport until her head eventually slipped sideways, coming to rest softly against Solomon’s shoulder.

Solomon looked down at the sleeping pavilion master. ’Unlike me, normal people actually need to rest to function properly,’ he thought, keeping his posture perfectly still to avoid waking her. ’She scaled that mountain face right beside me, completely draining her aura reserves just to keep up with my erratic jumps.’

While looking at her resting features, Solomon’s gaze inadvertently drifted downward, catching a slight, unintentional glimpse of her cleavage exposed by the shifting folds of her martial robes.

He immediately snapped his head in the opposite direction, fixing his silver eyes entirely on the dark, passing trees outside the window.

A few minutes later, the carriage wheels rolled over a cluster of broken branches lying across the dirt path. The sudden jolt bounced the cabin. Yue’s head slipped off his shoulder entirely, sliding down his arm until she ended up resting peacefully across his lap.

Solomon stiffened. He felt uncomfortable with the intimate positioning, but he ultimately decided not to do anything about it.

’If I wake her up and forcefully adjust her posture, she will just fall right back asleep and end up sliding back down here anyway,’ Solomon reasoned logically.

Instead of dwelling on the awkward proximity, he closed his eyes, leaned his head against the wooden wall, and dedicated his mental focus to practicing how to voluntarily enter his inner mental world.

Morning light eventually flooded the cabin, but Solomon had failed completely. He could not access the green plains.

’Even if I swallow the gemstone right now, I will not unlock the second bloodline ability unless I enter my inner world and plant the gem directly onto the soul tree,’ Solomon analyzed, opening his eyes. ’Is experiencing a near-death trauma truly the only possible way to access that domain?’

He recalled his catastrophic cultivation experiment in the carriage a few days ago. ’Luckily, I know exactly how to trigger a near-death experience on command now. I just have to force my aura straight through the heart again... and pray that my healing factor kicks in before I die for real.’

A while later, Yue stirred and woke up. She blinked against the sunlight, instantly realizing exactly where she was resting.

She shot up from his lap with a sharp gasp, her face flushing a vibrant shade of crimson. She spent the next several hours completely avoiding the topic, deliberately refusing to make direct eye contact with him while discussing their travel route.

Sir Kulbro pulled the carriage over to swap shifts. He apologized profusely to the pavilion master for intruding before collapsing onto the opposite bench and dozing off instantly. Commander Feng took the reins once again.

The group ate preserved rations and medicinal herbs on the move. By noon of the second day, the carriage finally passed through the towering stone gates of the Azure Moon Kingdom.

Solomon and Yue climbed out near the royal stables to bid their farewells.

Sir Kulbro offered a crisp salute. Even Commander Feng seemed to have completely shed his arrogant attitude. The commander bowed his head slightly, speaking to the silver-haired boy with genuine, albeit strained, politeness before leading the horses away.

Yue and Solomon immediately transferred to a different transport, taking a faster carriage pulled by a scaled spirit beast for the final leg of their journey.

They arrived at the base of the Azure Dragon Sect just as the evening sun began to set.

While they hiked up the massive stone staircase leading to the upper pavilions, Yue snapped her jade fan open. "I should remind you, Solomon. Today is the deadline. Your four students are supposed to demonstrate their mastery of the Azure Crane Blade to Master Wu this evening."

Solomon let out a long, exhausted sigh. "I probably would have earned that third star if I had been a lot stricter with their training regimen back at the palace."

Yue smiled warmly, tapping the closed fan against his shoulder. "You already earned two stars directly from my evaluations. That is an incredibly impressive foundation. There has rarely been any novice disciple who has made so much academic progress within just a single month of arriving in the Martial World."

They reached the bustling, central courtyards of the sect grounds. Solomon offered a quick wave of farewell, and the two parted ways to return to their respective pavilions.
