The men in the black suits piled into their vehicles and drove back to their company headquarters. The operation was housed in a multi-story glass building located in the upscale financial district of Blue York.
The company operated as a well-known, fully licensed lending firm. Different floors and departments handled various types of loans such as mortgages, corporate investments, and personal lines of credit.
However, the pristine corporate image was merely a front. The underground basement served as a brutal interrogation center. Debtors who could not pay their loans on time were dragged down there, tortured, and subsequently turned into disposable tools.
The company forced these desperate individuals to execute their dirty work such as abducting rivals, harming specific targets, or even carrying out assassinations. All in exchange for a minor reduction in their crippling debts. On paper, it was a financial firm, while in reality, it operated as an unregulated, ruthless bounty agency.
The suited men quickly rode the elevator up to their designated floor and marched straight into the department head’s luxurious corner office.
The leader, Marcus, hurriedly explained the situation at the diner, detailing the teenager’s physical resistance and the destroyed property transfer documents.
The department head, a balding man named Richard, slammed his hand onto his desk. He stood up and delivered a vicious, open-handed slap directly across Marcus’s face.
"Why would you fall for a child’s pathetic provocation?!" Richard screamed, his face turning red. "You completely lost your cool over a teenager asking for receipts! You were supposed to secure the signatures today!"
Marcus rubbed his stinging cheek. "The kid was talking way too much! He was getting in my way and threatening to call the cops! He literally ripped the transfer deed to shreds!"
Richard let out a heavy sigh and collapsed back into his leather chair. "You should have just finished the task assigned to you. This failure is going to be permanently recorded on your personnel file, Marcus."
Richard waved his hand, ordering the other thugs to immediately locate the original loan agreements, the payment receipts, and the new transfer deeds, instructing them to head back to the diner as soon as possible.
While the thugs scrambled to find the files, Richard pulled a crystal decanter from his desk drawer. He poured a glass of amber liquor and slid it across the desk to Marcus, before pouring a second cup for himself.
"The ’SixSavers’ guild gave us a very strict deadline to ensure District Six is completely evacuated before the dungeon breaks," Richard explained, taking a slow sip. "We have tried to force the residents out using scare tactics, but we failed again and again. Then, a perfect opportunity fell right into our laps when we discovered Johan Ketzer was one of our active debtors."
Richard pointed a finger at Marcus. "Johan is practically a role model in that neighborhood. He is the unofficial leader of the District Six commercial block. As long as he refuses to evacuate his businesses, no one else on that street will leave either. If we can legally force him to evacuate by seizing his properties using that loan as leverage, then the entire commercial and residential district will immediately follow his lead out of sheer panic."
Richard slammed his glass down. "If you mess up this simple task, and we lose this massive real estate acquisition contract just because of your fragile ego, you are going to be in deep shit with the board of directors."
Marcus swallowed hard and nodded quickly. "I promise you, sir, something like this will absolutely not happen again. Once the boys find the original papers, I will march back into that diner and throw the documents right in that kid’s face. Johan will have no choice but to sign the transfer deed and sell everything to us to cover the debt. Once his diner closes, the entire commercial and residential district will follow his action. The sector will be completely empty within a week."
Richard scoffed. "You talk a very big game, Marcus, but you have to actually bring me results this time."
"I promise I will not fail again," Marcus swore, gripping his glass.
"There will be no need for that," a voice responded from the doorway.
Both men spun around. Solomon stood leaning casually against the doorframe. He wore his dark gray hoodie pulled up over his head, casting a shadow over his silver eyes. His bare fists and knuckles were heavily smeared with fresh, dark blood.
Richard jumped out of his chair, shouting in alarm. "Who the hell are you?! How did you get past security?! Where are all my men?!"
Solomon slowly reached up and pulled his hood back, revealing a few stray splatters of blood sprayed across his cheek and jawline. He pointed his thumb back toward the hallway.
"They told me this was no place for a kid," Solomon explained, his tone completely emotionless. "I did not like how they welcomed me into the building, so I taught them some basic manners. Just like how Marcus here taught my father’s employee some manners this morning. Although, instead of just punching one guy, I taught manners to every single person who got in my way and tried to attack me on the way up here."
Marcus stumbled backward, pointing a trembling finger at the teenager. "Sir! That is the kid! That is Johan’s son!" He frantically backed toward the window, yelling for the hallway guards to send backup.
Richard stared at Solomon. He analyzed the boy’s calm demeanor and the terrifying amount of blood soaking his hands.
’Every single man stationed on this floor is a trained, seasoned fighter with actual combat and dungeon experience,’ Richard thought, panic rising in his chest. ’If a kid like this was able to carve his way through all of them without breaking a sweat, no matter what his awakened talent is, I need to be careful.’
Richard slowly lowered his hand beneath his desk. He sneakily pressed a hidden emergency switch. The silent alarm instantly put the entire multi-story building into a total lockdown state without triggering any audible sirens or flashing lights, while simultaneously summoning every available enforcer from the basement levels to his location.
’The building’s automated security doors will slowly engage floor by floor,’ Richard smirked inwardly, formulating his trap. ’This executive floor will be locked down last, so the kid will not even notice the trap closing around him. By the time he realizes he is locked in, every single armed enforcer in this building will arrive outside that door. He will have nowhere to escape. No matter how strong he thinks he is, there is absolutely no way he can fight hundreds of armed men all by himself. Until the backup arrives, I just need to keep him busy.’
Richard raised his hands defensively and ordered Marcus to back off. He gestured toward the empty leather chairs sitting in front of his desk.
"Please, come inside," Richard invited smoothly, projecting a calm, corporate facade. "Why are you here?"
Solomon walked into the luxurious office. He grabbed a stack of legal documents resting on the edge of the desk and casually wiped the fresh blood from his knuckles using the expensive parchment.
He stared directly at Richard and Marcus, tossing the ruined, blood-stained papers onto the floor.
"I am here to pay back the debt," Solomon stated.
