The next couple days went according to plan for Aiden.

Just like he’d expected, the administrative block had immediately taken down the flyer once they were informed about it.

Though they had to admit that they were quite impressed by the fact that a student had managed to build something of such and would’ve even left the ad promotion on the board otherwise...

...there were two major things that invalidated its stay.

One, was its themes.

Road raging? Mowing pedestrians? Using guns? Selling drugs? Building a criminal empire?

Though they remained aware it was just a videogame, they still didn’t want the board to be used as an avenue to promote something of such.

Two, if they didn’t crack down on it, other students might decide to follow in the footsteps of whomever the culprit was... all of which might ultimately lead to the board being abused for other irrelevant or untoward stuff.

Nonetheless, the news of it had already spread around the school like wildfire.

Of an indie crime simulator mobile game made by someone in their school.

Naturally, the details of the flyer itself remained obscure so as not to give out the culprit, especially when said culprit kept on pinning new ones to it for the rest of the week.

Before long, it was all most teens at Silverlake High were talking about.

The guys mostly for the game’s premise itself, and the ladies majorly because it was the most interesting thing that happened all week thus far.

Even the teachers were discussing about it from time to time, some in opposition of it, while others were more intrigued by it.

And for Aiden whom had planned to upload the game’s actual gameplay trailer on the second week of February, he and the gang couldn’t help but be excited.

Afterall, he’d drawn the attention of hundreds of students to the game with just a single tactic... one that would ultimately do a good job of driving a more organic traffic for the video once it was up.

That, in addition to the audience he’d built across all of his social media handles, would ensure it got a healthy amount of people trying it out at launch.

From thereon, Crashout Interactive would be rolling in sweet, sweet Benjamins... or at least that was what Aiden hoped for.

In any case, the second week of February had arrived.

Today was a Sunday and Aiden had just stepped out of the bathroom after observing his personal hygiene, a palpable air of anticipation around him as he went through the motions.

Having slipped into comfortable clothes, he then pulled up his system panel to distribute his LPs across the board.

Staring at his stats for a while, Aiden was tempted to blitz his Mind attribute straight to S-grade.

Afterall, he was extremely curious to unlock the full potential of his system.

However, after mulling it over for a while, he let out a deep breath to calm his beating heart whilst muttering to himself;

"Let’s not jump the gun, Aiden."

"I mean, it won’t hurt to be well-prepared for what’s to come, right?" he rubbed his chin a bit, a thoughtful expression on his features.

For as much as he was dying to find out what other functions his quirky Life System was capable of, he decided against being impulsive.

And though Aiden couldn’t be certain, something told him that if the system was still essentially running on ’lite’ mode as is and it was this grindy, the unlocked version of it was sure to be far grindier.

If that--speculatively--was the case, wouldn’t it be in his best interests that he worked towards getting his lower attributes higher and to a level he was much more comfortable with before he took the plunge?

Nodding to himself in affirmation, the youth made his decision a moment after.

Five months and three weeks.

That was all Aiden had left to complete the quest.

It was also why he let out yet another deep breath as he dismissed the system panel.

At this point, he was placing all his eggs into one basket and he knew it. It was also why he was pulling all the stops to make it a resounding success.

Because if [Crashout: Sin City] didn’t pan out the way he wanted, he doubted there’d be any avenue for him to hit that quota within the limited time he had.

And if he didn’t manage to hit that quota, or at least make something substantial enough, he wouldn’t have any proper capital to begin investing in all the other businesses he had in mind.

Then there were his buddies, all of whom he had big plans for.

Simply put, a lot was riding on the success of the game, and today’s trailer would give them an estimation of what they could expect in terms of sales.

Grabbing his laptop from the desk, the youth made his way downstairs.

Placing the device on the living room table, he headed into the kitchen to make breakfast for not just he and his Pops, but for the gang whom were coming over yet again today.

Midway through prepping the ingredients, Richard’s loud yawn echoed through the house as he stepped out of his bedroom like a sleep-deprived sloth.

"Pops! Don’t swallow the whole house!" Aiden teasingly called out.

"It’s my house, Champ! I can do whatever the hell I want with it!" the man declared with yet another loud yawn and a wide stretch as he stepped into the living room, an amused expression on his visage and his eyes a bit puffy.

Before Aiden could counter his old man’s statement, the doorbell rang.

"Don’t worry. I’ll get it." Richard casually said as he walked over to the door and opened it.

From the kitchen, Aiden heard as his Pops and the gang exchanged greetings, to which the man warmly invited them in;

"Come on in, come on in."

Like ants from a kicked anthill, they trooped in.

Yet again, all five--save for Theo--casually marched into the kitchen.

Innocently, they all blinked at Aiden upon seeing him, not a single one of them greeting him.

Then they shamelessly proceeded to ransack the fridge.

Casper looted the jar of pickles yet again, while Clyde, Larry and Benjamin retrieved the overnight oats as usual.

One would’ve assumed Richard would react to all of their shenanigans, but even he simply retrieved his jar of coffee from one of the top cabinets with yet another sleepy yawn.

Clearly, he was just as used to their shenanigans as his son was.

Watching as they all tried to migrate from the kitchen a couple minutes later, Aiden casually spoke, his tone ’gentle’;

"If any one of you twerps so much as steps out that door, I’m starving you of a proper breakfast."

The gang immediately froze in their steps, stiffly turning over to face the youth, twitchy smiles on their lips as he began ordering them around;

"Casper, pass me the olive oil. Clyde, Larry, kindly chop the carrots and lentils. Benjamin, dice the onions."

"Chop chop." he looked over to all four with a ’light’ smile and they knew they were quite literally on thin ice.

Promptly, they did as they were told, each of them darting around the kitchen within seconds to report to their respective stations.

Richard on the other hand simply sipped from his coffee and looked out the window with a quiet ’Ah~’, his side frame clearly showing signs of him trying to hide his laughter.

As for Theo whom had been watching everything from the kitchen’s entrance, Aiden gestured for him to come in as well with a subtle tilt of his head and a playful smile on his lips.

Quietly chuckling to himself as he walked in, the curly haired youth reported for duty as Aiden designated a task to him as well.

Then, about twenty minutes later, they were done prepping as Aiden placed the lentil and carrot rice soup on fire.

Stepping out of the kitchen to meet with them in the living room, Aiden then asked of Theo;

"Everything’s set for the game’s wishlist across all stores?"

"Yep." Theo nodded in the affirmative.

"Alright then, let’s upload the trailer." he clasped his hands and the rest of the gang nodded in sync as well.

Soon, they were all hovering around Aiden’s laptop.

Richard too hung behind them, watching with curiosity as his son hit the publish button.

In an instant, the video went live and all seven watched with nail-biting tension for a few seconds.

For the first few minutes, nothing happened.

Then, the view count started ticking up as Aiden refreshed the page, followed by the several double digit likes, a few single digit dislikes.

Before long, the video had hit 1K views in under ten minutes, comments already starting to pour in!

That was an exceptional sign that the video had a high click-through rate and the algorithm would surely pick it up.

Clearly, Aiden’s marketing strategies had been a resounding success.

As a result, he and everyone else let out relived sighs, to which Casper then said a moment after, his tone evidently curious;

"The comments. Let’s read the comments."
