This rogue monkey had clearly gone mad.
This wasn't something a sane person would do.
Even though they were green with envy at the aura of Celestial Spirits and Earthly Fiends swirling around Wukong, they understood that this was a True Monarch Dojo. Such insolence would not end well.
"What thief dares to run wild in Zhenyuan Temple and steal the Immortal Peaches!"
A clear but furious child's shout, filled with shock and anger, exploded in the night like a clap of thunder.
At the entrance to the Central Courtyard, two short figures rushed in as fast as a gale. It was none other than the Daoist Children who guarded the Immortal Peach Tree, Qingfeng and Ming Yue.
They immediately saw the ravaged Immortal Peach Tree, its branches and leaves torn to shreds, and upon its boughs, the figure that was frantically eating, its body wreathed in a surging miasma of various Evil Qis.
It was the three "honored guests" they had met during the day: the unruly Golden-Haired Monkey Demon, that pig, and the fierce-looking Cyan-skinned Wujing.
What made their eyes burn with fury was the ground littered with peach pits and leaves.
The monkey was actually still picking them, still stuffing them into its mouth.
"Stop! You vile creature! You… you dare to steal and pick the Immortal Peaches! And you've picked so many! Put them down right now!"
Qingfeng's little face was red with anger, his finger trembling as he pointed at the three in the tree.
Ming Yue was so anxious he stomped his feet. "Damn you, Demon Fiends! Ungrateful things! The Observatory Master treated you with such kindness, yet you engage in such sneaky, thieving business! Get down here and surrender!"
Wukong had already planned for this and wasn't the least bit panicked.
Or rather, Xu Yunfan wasn't the least bit panicked, and this confidence rubbed off on Wukong, making him feel like it was no big deal.
Although he felt a hint of unease, he was quickly annoyed by the tone of the two Daoist Children, Qingfeng and Mingyue.
He took a large bite of an Immortal Peach swirling with Wind and Thunder Evil Qi, its juice splashing everywhere. He deliberately put on a lazy, roguish expression, glared, and said.
"Hey! You two little kids are so clueless. Stop your baseless accusations."
"When did my junior brothers and I ever steal? Aren't we just picking a few fruits from our own garden to quench our thirst and fill our bellies? We just got here today and haven't even had a proper meal yet."
"We're starving, so what's wrong with picking a few of your fruits to tide us over? How is that stealing?!"
Qingfeng was so angry he jumped up and down. "Twisting words and logic! Utterly shameless! You clearly wanted to steal and eat the Immortal Peaches! The Observatory Master only gave you four. When did he ever permit you to come back and pick more?!"
Ming Yue also rebuked furiously, "It's stealing! Plain and simple! The Immortal Peaches are incredibly precious. How could brutes like you Demon Fiends just waste them? You were given some during the day, and you came back at night. If you're not a thief, what are you?!"
"You've all reached Foundation Establishment and attained the Daoist Master Format. Why would you still need food? Why haven't you burst from feasting on wind and drinking dew?!"
Berated to their faces, Wuneng and Wujing felt their faces flush with shame. Their hands stopped, and they stood in the tree, at a loss, looking toward Wukong.
When Wukong heard them dare to call him a "thief," a "vile creature," and a "brutish Demon Fiend," he grew even more displeased, suppressing his anger.
Standing on a high branch with his hands on his hips, his Golden Eyes wide and his fangs bared, he pointed at the two Daoist Children and bellowed, "You little brats have some nerve! My conduct is upright and honest, when have I ever stolen?!"
"Your family's fruits are growing on the tree for all to see! I was hungry, so what's wrong with grabbing a few to try?!"
"Besides,"
The monkey's voice suddenly rose, laced with deliberate arrogance. "So what if I ate a few of your stupid fruits? Is that such a big deal? At worst, I'll just compensate you with a few pieces of silver! I've traveled one hundred and eight thousand li for the sake of bringing Universal Salvation to the entire Eastern Wilderness, to make all these barbaric Demon Fiends convert and achieve truth, goodness, and beauty!"
"What kind of damn thing are these peaches of yours to be worth the two of you shouting like this, and even wanting to tie us up to see your so-called True Monarch?!"
Qingfeng and Mingyue were so enraged by his shameless twisting of logic and false accusations that smoke was practically coming out of their ears.
Qingfeng's hand trembled as he pointed at Wukong. "You… you rogue monkey! You steal things and still dare to argue! Who do you think you are? How dare you try to scare people with the Puchen Pure Land?"
"You're just a wild monkey spirit who converted to the Buddhist Sect! Just you wait! When the Observatory Master, the True Monarch, returns, he'll definitely skin you and pull out your tendons, cast your Divine Soul into the Nine Nether Refining Fire, and completely refine a Demon Fiend like you into a wisp of green smoke!"
Ming Yue chimed in with his own furious curses, "That's right! Don't you dare be so smug! When the Observatory Master returns, he will surely lay down a Heaven and Earth Net and capture you three creatures whose demonic nature can never be changed!"
"Skin me and pull out my tendons?"
"Refine me into green smoke?"
"A creature whose demonic nature can never be changed?"
In Wukong's Golden Eyes, the deliberately feigned arrogance and insolence were instantly replaced by an icy, violent fury, as if his Inverted Scale had been touched.
Far away at Cold Crow Pass, Xu Yunfan couldn't help but clap his hands and laugh.
'Good, good, good. Let me add some more fuel to this fire.'
'I was waiting for you to say that. This is the perfect excuse to make a scene.'
'Primordial Sect, Puchen Pure Land, you think you can just sit back and reap the rewards? I'm going to smash this chessboard to pieces!'
"WAAAGH!"
The monkey let out a strange cry, thoroughly enraged by Qingfeng and Mingyue. The incredibly violent aura, mixed with the chaotic energies of countless Celestial Spirits and Earthly Fiends, could no longer be suppressed. It erupted with the force of a furious, stormy sea.
"You two little whelp Daoists who look down on others!"
"You dare say I'm a Demon Fiend whose demonic nature can't be changed? You want to refine me?!"
His Sea-Crossing Purple Gold Rod erupted with a blinding golden light with a VWOM!
A ferocious Fighting Spirit that seemed capable of destroying heaven and earth shot toward the clouds.
Wuneng and Wujing were scared out of their wits. If Wukong actually killed Qingfeng and Mingyue, Wukong might get away with it due to his supreme skill and audacity, but the two of them would be in for a world of suffering.
"Eldest Brother, don't!"
But it was too late.
A savage look flashed across Wukong's face. An inexplicable rage surged within him, burning away the last of his reason. A world-shaking roar erupted from his mouth.
"I'll teach you to curse at me! I'll teach you!"
"It's just one stupid peach tree! You dare use it to bully your grandpa?!"
"Watch me sever the roots of this damn thing you use for extortion!"
Before the words had even faded.
The Sea-Crossing Purple Gold Rod, long since filled with berserk Magical Power and entwined with the chaotic Evil Qis of Thunder Fire, ice, and more, was swung in a full circle by Wukong, carrying a terrifying power that could make heaven and earth pale.
But it wasn't aimed at the Daoist Children.
Instead, under the horrified gazes of everyone present, it was aimed at the Celestial Spirit and Earth Evil Immortal Peach Tree—the one that flowed with brilliant light and carried the Origin of countless Celestial Spirits and Earthly Fiends.
Viciously!
He brought the rod down!
"KRA-CHA!! BOOOM!!!"
The Sea-Crossing Purple Gold Rod, wreathed in myriad chaotic Evil Qis, came crashing down.
This strike carried Wukong's enraged, berserk demonic nature, but it also concealed Xu Yunfan's will to use this opportunity to disrupt the situation. Fanned by these forces, the Gang Wind that could tear through anything had shredded all the green leaves on the tree to dust before the rod even touched the trunk.
In that instant, a strange change occurred.
The moment the Purple Gold Rod made contact, the entire Immortal Peach Tree suddenly erupted in a blinding, nine-colored radiance. On its gnarled, dragon-like branches, layer upon layer of Dao Patterns and Talismans appeared. It was clearly protected by an extremely powerful ward.
