Chapter 511: Chapter 511: Buddha and Demon

His right hand slowly rose. His fingers were long and slender, the knuckles distinct, and the motion was as leisurely as brushing away a speck of dust.

But as he moved, the very space within Zhenyuan Temple’s courtyard abruptly froze solid.

The air grew thick as mercury. An immense pressure slammed Wuneng and Wujing, who had just been struggling to their feet, hard against the ground once more. Even breathing became an ordeal.

Sanzang felt his Magical Power instantly and utterly sealed within his body. He was like a mortal trapped in a mire, unable to move a muscle. He even tried to bring his spiritual presence to bear, but before True Monarch Pu Du, it was as inconsequential as a gentle breeze.

He was only an Arhat. Facing a True Monarch who had attained a Bodhisattva Fruit Position was simply out of his league.

In everyone’s eyes, True Monarch Pu Du’s raised hand seemed to have become a celestial palm, vast enough to blot out the very sky.

It ignored distance. It ignored spatial barriers. It carried an indomitable, irresistible, and unfathomable power as it descended upon the master and his three disciples.

It descended primarily upon Wukong, pressing down from above.

The lines on the palm were clearly visible, each one appearing as a manifestation of the Laws of Heaven and Earth.

This single grasp intended to crush them flat, like insects!

The moment he perceived the Heaven-Covering Giant Palm descending through Wukong’s perspective, Xu Yunfan, countless miles away, felt his Heart and Spirit violently tremble as a chill shot up his spine.

He watched as True Monarch Pu Du merely raised his hand and made a grasping motion, and the entire courtyard of Zhenyuan Temple seemed to freeze solid.

The Qi of the Celestial Spirits and Earthly Fiends, which had been surging through his body moments before, now stagnated, as heavy as lead and mercury.

Wuneng and Wujing were sprawled on the ground, unable to move a muscle.

Even Master Sanzang found his Magical Power completely sealed, rendering him no different from a mortal.

In Xu Yunfan’s spiritual perception, that casually raised palm had already transformed into an invisible celestial canopy blanketing the cosmos. The chasms of its palm lines were like intersecting rivers of stars, flowing with the grim light of the Laws.

’The might of a True Monarch... The true peak of power in the Taihua Spirit Ruins Realm!’

Xu Yunfan was shaken to his very core.

He was finally experiencing firsthand the terror of those who stood at the apex of this world.

Daoist Lords might exist, but their forms were ethereal and elusive, mostly hidden away in extra-planar Grotto Heavens or walking the world as mere avatars.

Only the True Monarchs, who had attained the Golden Core Dao, were the true, tangible, invincible existences who ruled over vast territories and guarded their domains under the heavens of this realm.

Their power could shatter the Ten Thousand Laws, their presence could overwhelm heaven and earth. With a single thought, they determined the life and death of all creation.

This seemingly casual grasp from True Monarch Pu Du was, in reality, the concentrated, supreme majesty of a Golden Core Dao Fruit. It possessed a dazzling divine might far beyond the imagination of Cultivators like himself, who were still struggling in the Foundation Establishment Realm, and it was certainly not something Wukong’s ferocious strength could hope to withstand.

But just then, a soft yet incredibly resilient ray of golden Buddha Light, like a bolt of silk unfurling from the heavens, suddenly appeared beneath True Monarch Pu Du’s giant palm.

"Amitabha Buddha. True Monarch, please calm your anger. Show mercy!"

Space rippled gently as a figure manifested from within the golden Buddha Light.

The newcomer was none other than Miaodi Bodhisattva of the Puchen Pure Land. Her face was serene and compassionate, her saintly appearance dignified. She wore a simple white robe and held a Jade Purification Bottle, within which a Willow Branch was so verdant it seemed to drip with life.

She radiated a soft yet immense Buddhist Will Power that formed a faint halo around her, just barely halting the descent of the Heaven-Covering Giant Palm.

But a closer look revealed that the ground beneath Miaodi Bodhisattva’s feet had silently sunk by half an inch.

"Calm my anger? Show mercy?"

True Monarch Pu Du withdrew his hand and stood with them clasped behind his back. His cold gaze swept over Miaodi Bodhisattva before flicking to the sunken ground at her feet, a sarcastic smirk twisting his lips.

"You certainly got here fast, Miaodi. However, your disciple destroyed my Dao Foundation’s Treasure Tree and injured my Garden Guardian Daoist Child. Don’t you think telling me to ’calm my anger’ is a little too flippant?"

Miaodi Bodhisattva placed her palms together and bowed slightly. Her posture was one of utmost humility, yet her voice remained calm.

"True Monarch, I am aware of the situation.

"It is true that my unworthy disciple, Wukong, suffered a sudden attack from his Heart Demon. He was unable to tame his restless mind and thus committed this lawless act of Evil Karma.

"As his elder, my failure to discipline him is undeniable. I cannot escape the blame. For that, I apologize to you, True Monarch."

She paused, seeming to choose her words carefully. "This monkey is a natural Stone Monkey, born of an Innate Dao Embryo. Though he has taken refuge in the Buddha, his demonic nature is not yet fully eradicated. He was provoked by the Evil Qi of your precious Treasure Tree and further incited by the Daoist child’s words. In a moment of delusion, he made a terrible mistake... But given that he is a Dharma Protector on a journey to the East, a task of great importance, I wonder if the True Monarch..."

As she spoke, Miaodi glanced at Wukong and the others below, who looked as though they’d just survived a disaster. Inwardly, she couldn’t help but curse them.

’If this isn’t handled properly today, it could ignite a war between the Puchen Pure Land and the Primordial Sect.’

"’Oh? His demonic nature isn’t fully eradicated? He was incited by words?’"

True Monarch Pu Du cut Miaodi Bodhisattva off. His voice rose sharply, laced with unconcealed mockery, and his gaze shot toward Wukong like a piercing sword.

"’Miaodi, don’t you find those excuses laughable, even as you say them? It’s obvious your Puchen Pure Land is letting a demon run rampant, using its strength to bully the weak.

"’Here, in my Zhenyuan Temple, he first committed theft, then destroyed a treasure, and then assaulted a Daoist Child! How is such behavior any different from the Demon Fiends plaguing the Eastern Wilderness? And you expect this vile beast to be part of some Universal Salvation? That’s the biggest joke I’ve ever heard!’"

Each question struck like a colossal hammer, causing the Buddha Light around Miaodi Bodhisattva to visibly tremble.

Yet, anyone could detect the poorly concealed glee in his tone.

By meddling like this, the Primordial Sect finally had a pretext to get involved. Now, even if the World Honored One Tathagata himself were to descend, he would have no grounds to object.

If the Tathagata dared to act unreasonably, the Daoist Lord of the Primordial Sect would surely teach the newcomer a lesson.

"’And as for being a Dharma Protector on the journey to the East?’"

True Monarch Pu Du scoffed, the cold light in his eyes growing sharper.

"’All the more reason he should die! Bringing such a savage Demon Monkey into the Eastern Wilderness, and you still dare speak of establishing a Buddha Country.

"’I see it as unleashing a demon to wreak havoc and spread endless poison! If I don’t execute him on the spot today—Soul Extraction and Refinement included—what would become of the Primordial Sect’s honor? How would our peers in the Taihua Spirit Ruins Realm view this incident!’"

True Monarch Pu Du spoke with righteous indignation, his aura swelling, vast and mighty, like a display of brilliant divine power.

’What really made it hard for Miaodi to keep her composure was the fact that Pu Du himself was a Demon Path True Monarch. The man was despicable.’ ’He was making her Puchen Pure Land sound like some kind of evil cult.’

Miaodi Bodhisattva’s brow furrowed at his aggressive questioning and the blatant threat of "Soul Extraction and Refinement." The compassion in her heart could no longer suppress a flicker of anger. Her voice remained calm, but it took on a more solemn tone.

"True Monarch, I am not trying to make excuses. My disciple made a grave mistake, and I admit it! The Puchen Pure Land admits it. We are willing to do whatever it takes to compensate you for your losses and show our sincere remorse. We are willing to offer..."

"’Compensate?’"

True Monarch Pu Du suddenly laughed, a dangerous, playful glint in his eyes. He sized up Miaodi Bodhisattva, his gaze lingering for a moment on the Jade Purification Bottle and Willow Branch in her hands. The smirk on his lips was almost palpable.

"’Very well. Since Miaodi Bodhisattva is so sincere, then I must ask...’"

His voice suddenly dropped, his pace slowing. Each and every word was like a pearl of ice striking a jade disc, echoing clearly in the ears of all whose hearts trembled in fear.
