Longevity: Comprehending the Heart Method
Chapter 502 - 31: Qingxing Seizes the Treasure, the 5-Year PactIn the Lu Kingdom Cultivation Realm, a vast mountain range spanned thousands of miles. As it was shrouded in mist year-round, it was known as the Mist Concealing Mountain Range.
It was home to countless Demon Beasts, a paradise for the Demon Race and a forbidden land for the Human Race. Normally, few dared to set foot within, save for the mercenaries and adventurers who made a living hunting Demon Beasts.
But today, for some unknown reason, many Human Race Cultivators had appeared on the outskirts of the Mist Concealing Mountain Range.
Their Cultivation levels varied, and their backgrounds were incredibly diverse. People who would normally never cross paths had all gathered together, seemingly searching for something.
The number of Cultivators participating in the search was not small, but spread across the vast Mist Concealing Mountain Range, their numbers seemed stretched thin. To make matters worse, the disorienting white mist and the Demon Beasts lurking in the shadows, ready to strike, posed a significant hindrance to the search party.
A burly Cultivator stared at the churning mist ahead and listened to the occasional beastly roars. He couldn’t help but gulp and ask, "Did that guy really go into a place like this?"
His companion beside him replied hesitantly, "I suppose so. Even the Young Master of Rakshasa Hall is here."
As he spoke, his gaze shifted to a colossal vessel in the sky. A feminine-looking man holding a folding fan stood upon it, looking down on the Mist Concealing Mountain Range from his lofty position.
Hearing this, the burly Cultivator’s expression grew more resolute.
Rakshasa Hall was one of the Golden Core Dominators of the Lu Kingdom Cultivation Realm. Since they were here, the news was most likely true.
At this thought, a fiery glint appeared in the burly Cultivator’s eyes.
About half a year ago, a Golden Core ruin had appeared near Panshi City. A Supreme Treasure was discovered within, triggering a mad scramble among countless people. The conflict even escalated into a war between Golden Core Masters, resulting in innumerable casualties.
But the Supreme Treasure was snatched away first by a Nameless Cultivator.
The two great Golden Core Dominators of the Lu Kingdom Cultivation Realm were enraged and sent their disciples to hunt down and kill the Nameless Cultivator.
The man’s Cultivation wasn’t high, but he was exceptionally skilled in stealth and concealment. For several months, the two great Golden Core Sects came up empty-handed. In fact, he had even managed to kill quite a few of their people.
As word spread, more and more people learned of the Supreme Treasure, and their greed drove them to join the hunt.
With so many people searching, he was inevitably exposed. After being discovered in Panshi City and fighting a bloody battle, he had fled into the Mist Concealing Mountain Range a few days prior.
Upon learning this, countless Cultivators had flocked to the area, forming a massive dragnet to hunt down the Nameless Cultivator. This was what had led to the current spectacle.
In truth, the vast majority of those participating in the hunt had no idea what the Supreme Treasure even was. Some said it was a powerful Spirit-Connected Treasure. Others claimed it was a Cultivation Technique or Divine Technique coveted even by Golden Core Masters. Still others believed it was a grand opportunity that could allow one to break through to the Golden Core realm.
The rumors were wild and varied, and no one knew which was true. But that didn’t stop them from taking part.
The Lu Kingdom Cultivation Realm was full of desperados to begin with. They didn’t care what the item was; knowing it was a treasure was enough!
Greed overwhelmed fear.
After a fierce internal struggle, the burly Cultivator and his companion finally stepped into the dense mist, advancing cautiously as they searched.
What the burly Cultivator didn’t know, however, was that from the moment they entered the Mist Concealing Mountain Range, they were already being watched...
Atop a towering, ancient tree, nestled beneath its dense canopy, Song Qingxing squatted silently on a thick branch. His hand gripped the hilt of his sword as he watched the burly Cultivator’s party approach, his eyes filled with an icy chill.
"Qingxing, you brat, what in the world are you thinking? We just needed to hide out in Panshi City for a while until this blew over. But no, you just had to go and stir up trouble."
"Now look at us! We’re trapped in here! What are we supposed to do against so many people?" Wujie’s voice was filled with exasperation.
That day, with Wujie’s help, Song Qingxing had taken advantage of the chaos to snatch the Supreme Treasure from the ruin. Afterward, they had returned to Panshi City to lie low.
Everything had been going smoothly. They just needed to lay low for a few years, and the whole affair would have likely blown over.
But who would have thought that Song Qingxing would actually go and provoke those people, exposing his location and triggering a siege.
Although he managed to fight his way out, he could never shake his pursuers, and was ultimately forced into the Mist Concealing Mountain Range.
’The Mist Concealing Mountain Range is dangerous, sure, but at least it’s vast. With this bizarre mist for cover, we can just circle around and slip out.’
Who would have thought these people would react so quickly, forming a complete encirclement in a matter of days?
On top of that, Song Qingxing had missed the best window to break out. Now, with more people arriving by the minute, they had begun a systematic grid search. It was only a matter of time before they were discovered.
Wujie was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan. He had slumbered for so many years and had finally seen a glimmer of hope of returning to his peak. He couldn’t bear the thought of it being extinguished so prematurely.
In stark contrast to Wujie’s anxiety, Song Qingxing was perfectly composed. "Didn’t you say that Slaughter Sword Intent needs to be nurtured through killing?" he asked calmly. "Isn’t this the perfect opportunity?"
Wujie froze. Recalling all of Song Qingxing’s recent, uncharacteristic actions, he arrived at a conclusion he could scarcely believe himself. "You did this on purpose?" he exclaimed.
Song Qingxing didn’t reply, but his icy gaze was all the answer Wujie needed.
Wujie was stunned. He never imagined Song Qingxing had such a mad side to him.
"What’s your plan?" Wujie asked, his voice heavy.
