Ye Liuyun and his clones swept through the Barren Sea’s surroundings in a series of raids, then shifted to a new location and struck again. The praetorian and the dynasty’s powerful warriors had been rushing about, intercepting and chasing them everywhere, yet never managed to catch up.
Every time they thought they had cornered Ye Liuyun and were about to trap him, he would use the Teleportation Black Tower to escape, refusing to fight them head-on.
Truth be told, if he had been serious about it, he could have wiped out some of the praetorian and warriors—but he felt it wasn’t worth the effort, a waste of time. Better to save his strength for dealing with Jiang Yuntian.
After stirring up chaos throughout the Huoyin Star System, Ye Liuyun vanished once more when the Death Legion and the two Demon Clan legions had gathered enough resources.
Fire Seal King Jiang Yuantang and his eldest son Jiang Yuntian both realized that Ye Liuyun’s next target was likely Jiang Yuntian’s army.
They assumed that since Ye Liuyun had just finished raiding, he would certainly need time to distribute the resources first and let his soldiers cultivate and grow stronger. What they hadn’t anticipated was that Ye Liuyun immediately made his way straight to Jiang Yuntian’s army encampment.
By the time they received word that Ye Liuyun had disappeared, he had already finished scouting out the situation of Jiang Yuntian’s forces.
He had noticed that Jiang Yuntian now had an additional hundred thousand praetorian and some powerful martial cultivators, but paid it no mind and launched a direct frontal assault on Jiang Yuntian’s army.
The Death Legion was tasked specifically with handling the three hundred thousand surrendered soldiers, while Cui Daoran and Heishan’s Demon Clan legions were assigned to attack one wing of Jiang Yuntian’s army.
Xiao Heng’s forces, the Ancient Demon Legion, and Ye Liuyun’s elite troops struck directly at the main army where Jiang Yuntian himself was stationed.
This time, however, all of them deployed Firepower Chariots, which were tasked with clearing out early and mid-stage soldiers from the battlefield to reduce their own casualties.
Jiang Yuntian had just received word confirming that Ye Liuyun had gone missing again and was weighing how to respond, when a thunderous barrage of explosions erupted outside. He didn’t even need a soldier to report—he extended his divine sense and immediately detected that Ye Liuyun’s army had arrived.
"He actually dared to come!" Jiang Yuntian was caught off guard, not having expected Ye Liuyun to be so bold. With his divine sense, he took in the scale of the forces outside and knew that Ye Liuyun had brought his full main army.
"What kind of equipment is that?" He then spotted the Firepower Chariots, which were firing relentlessly at his troops in a continuous barrage.
Under the bombardment of the Firepower Chariots, his soldiers were being cut down in swathes—there was simply no way to withstand such a ferocious assault.
"This is bad! Quickly, gather all the powerful warriors and strike at Ye Liuyun first!"
Jiang Yuntian immediately realized that the Firepower Chariots were a devastating weapon his army couldn’t hold against. The only option now was to have the warriors take down Ye Liuyun first.
And so, all the martial cultivator warriors the dynasty had assigned to Jiang Yuntian charged toward Ye Liuyun together, along with Jiang Yuntian’s personal guard—over two thousand in total. Behind them followed a hundred thousand golden-armored praetorian at the ninth level of Unity Realm, intent on annihilating Ye Liuyun in one fell swoop.
"Perfect timing!"
Ye Liuyun let out a light laugh and released both his clones. The three of them attacked together, each unleashing their Temporal power once, and swept away over five hundred of Jiang Yuntian’s warriors in an instant. Not a single one of the warriors the dynasty had sent was spared—every last one had a slave seal planted in them by Ye Liuyun.
Rather than storing them in his spatial world, Ye Liuyun had them turn around and immediately cut down Jiang Yuntian’s personal guard.
Jiang Yuntian’s guard had been close to these warriors to begin with and had no time to react. Before they knew it, nearly half of them had been slaughtered in the opening volley. By the time they gathered their wits, they were no match for these martial cultivator warriors and were beaten back without any ability to fight, retreating in disarray.
The hundred thousand praetorian behind them had no idea what was happening. While they stood there in a daze, those warriors came charging through, pursuing the fleeing guards and crashing straight into their ranks, forcing the praetorian to scatter and throwing their formation into immediate chaos.
Ye Liuyun seized the moment to release his five thousand-plus black-armored soldiers, sending them charging after the warriors into the praetorian. He also summoned the three beast companions—Leiming, Baihu, and the Nine-Headed Demon Dragon—to help cut down Imperial Guard soldiers with their white-light attacks.
Zhuque was also released, tasked with devouring the lingering souls on the battlefield to strengthen his divine soul power. Chilian coiled around Ye Liuyun’s arm, helping him absorb bloodline energy.
One of the Firepower Chariots was also coordinating with Ye Liuyun’s elite unit, bombarding the center of the Imperial Guard formation to pin them in place and prevent them from reinforcing the vanguard.
The Demon Vine was released as well, working in concert with Li Zhaoyuan’s sixty thousand eighth-level Unity Realm soldiers and the Ancient Demon Legion to sweep through Jiang Yuntian’s army.
Xiao Heng led his troops into the assault on the praetorian as well. The vanguard of the praetorian was surrounded, while their center was temporarily cut off from reinforcing them—they were instantly put on the back foot.
In the sky above, ninth-level Unity Realm warriors fell one after another, bodies crashing to the ground with every passing moment.
Seeing that Xiao Heng had also led his troops into the attack on the praetorian, Ye Liuyun immediately directed the newly subjugated dynasty warriors to go and kill Jiang Yuntian.
He figured Jiang Yuntian must have some life-saving trump cards up his sleeve, so he let them go wear him down first.
Ye Liuyun’s two clones also took out bows and arrows, picking off commanders within the enemy army from a distance to leave their soldiers without unified command, before quickly joining Ye Liuyun’s side of the battlefield.
On Ye Liuyun’s side, every force was pressing forward with great momentum, cutting down Jiang Yuntian’s army. Across the entire battlefield, the battle cries of hundreds of thousands of soldiers shook the heavens, and blood flowed like rivers.
Jiang Yuntian had already called for reinforcements from nearby troops, but he estimated they probably wouldn’t make it in time.
At that moment, he noticed the martial cultivator powerhouses charging straight toward him. Unable to stay put any longer, he immediately stepped out of his command tent and released over two hundred more martial cultivator powerhouses from his spatial world to intercept them, then organized the ninth-realm experts within his army to continue holding them back.
These two hundred-odd martial cultivator powerhouses had all been captured through various means as his life-saving trump cards, and now he had no choice but to use them.
His thousand-plus personal guard soldiers had died far too quickly, barely serving any purpose before being wiped out entirely by those dynastic powerhouses.
Jiang Yuntian had always been curious about how Ye Liuyun could simultaneously control so many powerful experts, believing it to be some extraordinarily powerful cultivation technique. The black and white light that Ye Liuyun and the demon beasts emitted also intrigued him. That was why he had kept making moves against Ye Liuyun — he wanted to obtain those techniques.
What he hadn’t expected was that Ye Liuyun would strike against him so quickly, and with such decisive force — launching an all-out assault from the very start, leaving him absolutely no room to maneuver.
He now understood that his defeat was inevitable, and his mind had already turned to how he might escape. With the main force of the Imperial Guard still intact, fleeing shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
So he immediately summoned the rear guard of the Imperial Army to his side, ordering them to protect him and hold off the attacks of those dynastic powerhouses.
Ye Liuyun also didn’t want those powerhouses dying in vain. Once he saw that they had slain all the experts around Jiang Yuntian, he had them temporarily pull back and form an interception line from a distance, to prevent Jiang Yuntian from escaping.
