Ye Liuyun could tell from their refusal to surrender—and their continued recruitment and training—that they were scheming something big.
Yu Xiaofeng also knew that as long as the Fire Seal Dynasty still stood, the fighting between them would never truly be over, so he deployed his forces with great caution.
The commanders all suspected that the Fire Seal Dynasty might be playing both sides: recruiting powerful cultivators from within the dynasty on one hand, and seeking outside help on the other.
Because the Fire Seal Dynasty alone no longer had the strength to stand against them—yet they refused to surrender or even seek peace talks, which made it obvious they were looking for outside reinforcements.
"But none of the surrounding star systems are stronger than them. Who could they possibly turn to?" Ye Liuyun found it puzzling.
"It might not be an army—perhaps just a handful of elite martial cultivators," Yu Xiaofeng said, though it was only a guess, so he could only prepare for multiple possibilities. He also reminded Ye Liuyun to watch out for assassination attempts, and especially to guard against the Fire Seal Dynasty using underhanded tactics—capturing demon beasts and women to use as leverage against him.
Ye Liuyun simply smiled. "Who says we have to stay in the Fire Seal Dynasty? Their powerful cultivators are all gone, and there’s not much left in the way of resources. What’s the point of sticking around?
The dynasty doesn’t dare make a move against us now. Dragging this out any longer just means fighting over scraps with the common people and lesser cultivators.
Tell the army to step up the pace of gathering resources. We’ll give them one more month—if nothing happens, we pull everyone out and move on, exploring other parts of the starfield. With the strength and size of our force now, we can go anywhere without worry.
And if they still refuse to accept it and try any dirty tricks, we’ll wipe out their dynasty outright and claim the entire star system."
Yu Xiaofeng and the other commanders all had a moment of realization. "Right—there’s no reason we have to grind it out here with them. Moving on to find resources elsewhere works just as well, and saves us from constantly watching our backs against their schemes."
With that, the entire army mobilized. Even those units that had been resting temporarily halted their cultivation and headed back out to claim planets, stockpiling resources for the coming journey through the stars—resources they could use to continue cultivating along the way.
The Death Legion, too, shifted its focus away from tempering itself through battle and instead accelerated its resource acquisition.
Ye Liuyun continued to join the fights personally, making a point of protecting the demon beasts and the women each time, staying alert to any treachery from the Fire Seal Dynasty.
During this period, the Fire Seal Dynasty did send out some powerful martial cultivators to target him, but none of their efforts amounted to anything. Through soul searching, Ye Liuyun had already learned that Jiang Yuantang had given up the fight—the ones still refusing to let go were certain other members of the royal family.
So Ye Liuyun had completely lost interest in the Fire Seal Dynasty. Better to simply leave, cutting off any hope they had of ever getting their hands on the cultivation techniques, and letting those stubborn royals regret it at their leisure.
Once he went out, traveled around, and came back, they would understand who held all the cards—and would come to him with resources, ready to negotiate properly.
Over the course of that month, Ye Liuyun’s army swept through another vast stretch of planets in the Fire Seal Star System. Every unit had stockpiled nearly half a year’s worth of cultivation resources.
Seeing that the Fire Seal Dynasty still showed no signs of major action, Ye Liuyun couldn’t be bothered to wait any longer. He had all the commanders store their soldiers into the spatial world, then stored the commanders themselves inside as well.
He and Leng Qianyu then practiced their Spatial Force together and departed the Fire Seal Star System directly.
With his Spatial Force now enhanced, a single step through the starfield could carry him across the distance of several planets, so he left the Fire Seal Star System quickly.
Still, compared to Leng Qianyu’s Spatial Force, he had a ways to go. Leng Qianyu could already effortlessly cross an entire star system in a single step—as long as she had the coordinates, she could essentially replicate the effect of a teleportation Black Tower within the range of a single star system.
So Ye Liuyun traveled while training his Spatial Force under Leng Qianyu’s guidance. Each step carried him farther than the last, and his speed was already on par with a Void-tier flying vessel.
Because of this, he didn’t bother with a flying vessel—he and his clone took turns traveling and practicing spatial techniques along the way.
As for the Fire Seal Star System, he put it out of his mind entirely. Whatever plans or preparations they were making had nothing to do with him anymore. By the time he returned, even those closest to him probably wouldn’t give the Fire Seal Dynasty a second thought.
Along the way, whenever he encountered a star system of modest strength, he would send out a correspondingly matched legion to do battle, claim a few planets, and gather more resources—though he never took everything. He would collect no more than a third of the planets in any given system before moving on.
His Spatial Force grew faster and faster, and even Leng Qianyu was astonished by his rate of improvement.
"Your cultivation talent is truly extraordinary. In half a year, you’ve made more progress than I did in ten years of training."
Ye Liuyun replied modestly, "It’s all because you’re such a good teacher. You were figuring it out on your own before, which is why your progress was slower. Without your guidance, there’s no way I would have improved this fast."
Leng Qianyu understood this well enough, yet still felt that even accounting for good instruction, Ye Liuyun’s cultivation talent was something no ordinary person could match.
"With your cultivation talent, you’d thrive no matter where you went!" he said earnestly.
After spending so much time with him, he had learned much about Ye Liuyun’s exploits and discovered that he came from the Mortal Realm, climbing his way up from the very bottom. He didn’t need to hear the details to guess how many crises Ye Liuyun must have faced along the way.
In martial cultivation, no one reaches such heights without experiencing life-or-death situations.
He had also sensed that Ye Liuyun was rapidly improving not just in Spatial Force, but in all other aspects as well. If they were to fight now, aside from having slightly stronger Spatial Force, he would be no match for Ye Liuyun.
Ye Liuyun could now split a planet reinforced by formations clean in half with a single full-powered strike using his blade intent, divine essence, and heaven-earth energy.
And these three powers of Ye Liuyun’s far surpassed his own. Not to mention Ye Liuyun’s divine soul, bloodline, and physical body were all vastly superior to his as well.
After testing himself several times, Ye Liuyun knew his Spatial Force was now on par with Leng Qianyu’s. He stopped having Leng Qianyu practice spatial techniques with him and let him cultivate on his own instead.
He also passed down the Grand Void Qi Refining Technique to Cui Daoran, Leng Qianyu, and the two demon serpents, having them focus on cultivating it to improve their true essence quality. He didn’t mind letting them break through to the Grand Void Realm before him.
This left them all too moved for words. They hadn’t expected that Ye Liuyun would let them advance to the Grand Void Realm before he did so himself.
Only then did Leng Qianyu fully believe that Ye Liuyun had never intended to keep this technique for himself alone.
"Master..." Cui Daoran was even more overwhelmed and didn’t know what to say. He knew Ye Liuyun only spread this technique based on character—he never imagined someone like him who came from a bandit background could receive it as well.
