The first mutated man charged.
Despite his enormous frame, he moved far faster than Kaela would have expected. His heavy feet tore across the ground as he closed the distance, his mutated body carrying a surprising amount of speed and momentum.
Kaela didn’t retreat.
Instead, she stepped forward to meet him.
Their fists collided.
BOOM!
The impact sent a powerful shockwave through the courtyard, scattering dust and loose debris in every direction. The mutated man was driven backwards several metres, his feet scraping violently across the concrete as he struggled to regain his balance.
Kaela barely moved.
She looked down at her fist for a moment before raising her eyes towards him.
"...C Rank?"
The creature-like man responded with another furious roar before charging again.
Kaela smiled.
"Not bad."
Then she disappeared.
A violet blur crossed the distance between them in an instant. Before the mutated man could react, Kaela’s knee slammed directly into his stomach with enough force to fold his massive body around her leg.
The impact launched him through the air.
He crashed through the wooden structure on the other side of the courtyard, sending splintered boards flying in every direction.
Kaela didn’t even wait to see whether he would get back up.
Another mutated man attacked from her left.
Kaela ducked beneath his claws, allowing his arm to sweep harmlessly over her head. Before he could recover from the missed strike, she caught his wrist and twisted with overwhelming strength.
The man’s body lurched forward.
Kaela slammed him face-first into the ground.
Crash!
The earth cracked beneath his body as his face struck the concrete.
Another came from behind.
Kaela spun and drove her elbow directly into his jaw.
The man’s feet left the ground.
Kaela caught him by his shirt before he could fall, holding him effortlessly for a brief moment before throwing him directly into another charging mutant.
The two collided violently.
Kaela laughed.
"Come on!"
The mutations were impressive.
Most of these men weren’t even Titled, yet the drugs had forced their bodies into a state capable of producing C Rank power. Some were even approaching B Rank, which was an incredible achievement for ordinary humans who should never have possessed that level of strength in the first place.
But against Kaela, it wasn’t enough.
Not even close.
She was a powerful A Rank.
And unlike these men, she wasn’t borrowing someone else’s power through a drug. This was her natural strength, her own body, her own Title, and the result of years of experience.
Another mutant lunged at her.
Kaela caught his fist in one hand.
Her fingers closed around it tightly enough that the man’s expression immediately changed. He tried to pull away, but he couldn’t even move her arm.
Kaela’s grin widened.
"You’re gonna need to try harder."
She pulled.
The man’s entire body was dragged towards her as though he weighed nothing.
Her other fist slammed into his chest.
BOOM!
He was sent crashing into the side of a truck, the metal buckling violently beneath the impact. Kaela barely had time to turn before another beast-mutated man came charging towards her.
This time, she met him head-on.
The two exchanged a rapid series of blows, their movements becoming a blur as fist met fist, elbow met claw, and knee met hardened flesh. Every collision sent another shockwave across the courtyard, shaking the surrounding structures.
Kaela blocked a claw with her forearm before driving her fist into the man’s ribs.
He stumbled.
She followed with another punch.
Then another.
Finally, she grabbed him by the throat and threw him into the ground.
CRASH!
That was one of the strongest of the mutated men, and she had overpowered it effortlessly in a matter of seconds.
"Next!"
That’s when a crimson blur suddenly appeared beside her.
Blink!
Elara materialised directly in the middle of the battlefield.
Her crimson aura immediately exploded around her body. Unlike Kaela’s wild violet energy, Elara’s aura felt controlled and dense, almost suffocating as it wrapped around her body.
"Hey! This is my fight!"
"Sharing is caring," was Elara’s cute response as her crimson eyes swept across the approaching mutants.
She smiled.
’I’ve been waiting for this.’
Her body suddenly surged forward, using Physical Augmentation.
The crimson energy intensified around her as her muscles tightened and her movements became faster, stronger, and sharper.
She met the nearest mutant with a straight punch.
Boom!
The creature was knocked backwards.
Elara followed immediately with incredible speed, appearing directly in front of him.
Her fist slammed into his face.
Crack!
The mutant spun through the air before crashing into the dirt.
Kaela watched the exchange, then laughed.
"You’ve gotten better."
Elara glanced towards her.
"Of course I have."
Another mutant charged between them.
Kaela and Elara moved simultaneously.
Kaela ducked beneath the attack while Elara jumped over it, their movements naturally flowing around one another as though they’d practised together countless times.
Kaela swept the creature’s legs, and Elara struck its chest.
The mutant was thrown upward.
Kaela jumped after it.
Elara followed.
For a brief moment, both women were airborne.
Kaela slammed her fist into the mutant’s side while Elara struck from the opposite direction.
BOOM!
The combined impact blasted the mutated man sideways between their attacks.
He crashed through a concrete wall.
Kaela landed first, then Elara touched down beside her.
They looked at each other.
Kaela grinned.
"Not bad."
Elara smiled.
"Neither are you."
Another group charged, as more and more of the men consumed those dark pills.
The two women immediately moved again.
Their fighting styles were completely different, yet somehow complemented each other perfectly.
They were like a red and purple tornado.
Kaela fought like a wild animal: aggressive, unpredictable, and brutally direct. Every attack seemed designed to overwhelm her opponent through sheer physical dominance.
Elara was more controlled.
Every movement had purpose, and every strike flowed naturally into the next. She wasted almost nothing, moving with a precision that allowed her to keep pace with Kaela despite their vastly different approaches to combat.
Yet somehow, Elara was able to match Kaela’s movements almost perfectly, and was almost mimicking her.
Kaela noticed and grinned.
"You’re quite the fast learner."
Elara smiled until her purple-eyed counterpart added, "But that demon is still much scarier."
She frowned.
"Only for now."
Kaela burst into laughter.
The two continued battering their way through the mutated men, moving through the battlefield together as the transformed attackers struggled to keep up with them.
And the entire time, Mark was in awe of what he was witnessing...
