Chapter 591: Chapter 377: Splitting the Forces (Part 2)
"You’re really something else," Zhou Chen said in admiration.
"It’s a shame. One Song Bensong isn’t enough to shake Dupe’s position. Taking down a Grand Councilor is no easy task."
Zhou Chen thought for a moment. "That’s how it is when you fight alone. The Life Church and the Dawn Church are both potential allies. How about reaching out to them? We could also talk to Dupe’s political rivals about cooperating."
"Hmm," Jiang Che responded. "I’m preparing to go discuss things with ’White Bird’. As for the Dawn Church, Daun left Jinzhu two hours ago. His whereabouts are unknown, and now everyone is speculating about where he went."
’Father Daun left Jinzhu?’ Zhou Chen was startled. This was big news. He had a feeling that Father Daun was definitely off to do something major.
"What about Lin Ya?"
"She’s still handling her intern duties. She’s far more diligent than you are—a hard worker who never complains and rarely slacks off. She proactively helps me with my work and knows to make me coffee. Unlike you, who’s only made it for me a handful of times, and only when you were trying to suck up," Jiang Che berated Zhou Chen without mercy.
"I’ve definitely made it for you lots of times!" Zhou Chen retorted loudly.
"I can count the ’lots of times’ you’re talking about on both hands."
"..." Zhou Chen was at a loss for words. "But my professional skills are definitely better than hers."
"You’re not wrong about that," Jiang Che admitted, a rare concession. Then her tone shifted. "But that’s as far as it goes. Which is why you were never a good Secretary."
"You’re breaking my heart," Zhou Chen said, feigning hurt.
"But you are definitely a friend worth having," Jiang Che added.
Zhou Chen raised his eyebrows in surprise and couldn’t help but smile. "I’m actually really touched to hear you say that."
"Then get to work," Jiang Che said before abruptly hanging up.

Returning to the Maple City Star Gathering, Zhou Chen found Erin in the medical department. To his surprise, she was in Sasha’s hospital room, teaching her how to paint with watercolors.
Seeing the smiles on their faces, he didn’t go in to disturb them.
’Erin never had a proper childhood. It’s good to let her play with Sasha. It can help make up for some of what she missed.’
Suddenly, his phone vibrated. A text message came in from an unknown number.
[Bishop Daun sent me to help you. Please get to Fish City before 4 PM.]
Zhou Chen was instantly alert. ’Only a follower of the Dawn Church would call Father Daun "Bishop"!’
’Four in the afternoon... and it’s already a little past two. Time is tight.’ Seeing that he was short on time, Zhou Chen stepped into the room to say a quick word to Erin, then immediately departed for Fish City.
·
「Fish City.」
Zhou Chen arrived at the entrance of a small Dawn Church. A conspicuous Sun Holy Emblem was displayed on the outer wall near the roof, seeming to radiate a warm light.
He stepped into the church. There were no worshipers inside, only a male Elf dressed in a simple monastic robe. His golden hair shone with a dazzling luster; just by standing there, he was as brilliant and eye-catching as the Sun itself.
"You’re here," the male Elf said in a low, gentle voice, turning around.
Zhou Chen gasped, stunned by the man’s appearance.
It was common knowledge that Elves were a stunningly beautiful race. Even those with a mere trace of Elven blood were never ugly, let alone a pure-blooded Elf, who seemed like one of heaven’s most perfect creations.
The male Elf before him was a perfect example. Zhou Chen couldn’t even imagine what words to use to describe him. With his flowing long hair and delicate features, he seemed to be enveloped in a soft, divine light, full of an inviolable sanctity and beauty. Every move he made radiated an incredible charisma.
"You can call me Orlando," the male Elf said elegantly.
"I’m Zhou Chen. Well, you probably already know that..." Zhou Chen stepped forward to shake his hand. "Do you know where Father Daun went?"
Orlando gave a mysterious smile. "He is in the process of rebuilding the Dawn Church. You will find out soon enough."
Seeing that he didn’t want to elaborate, Zhou Chen tactfully changed the subject. "Father Daun must have filled you in on the situation, so... you’re a Tier Four?"
Orlando nodded lightly. "I advanced seven years ago. I can sense another Tier Four nearby. A friend of yours, I presume?"
"The bodyguard I hired."
Orlando looked a little surprised but didn’t press the matter. "There’s no time to waste. We should get our preparations underway. ’Ghost’ will be in Fish City tonight."
"Huh?" Zhou Chen was taken aback. "How do you know that?"
Orlando smiled. "I know a lady who understands prophecy and divination. I asked her for a small favor, and she divined that ’Ghost’ will arrive in Fish City tonight."
Zhou Chen was puzzled. "’Ghost’ definitely has anti-divination Artifacts. How did that lady manage to divine it?"
"She’s Tier Five, and a Tier Five who specializes in the Realm of divination. Everyone has their specialty, you know."
’Tier Five...’ Zhou Chen was stunned. But then he glanced at Orlando’s face and calmed down. ’A guy that handsome must be popular. It’s not surprising he could find a female Tier Five to help him. Besides, Orlando is a follower of the Dawn Church. Even if the Church isn’t what it used to be, it still has connections.’
"She also helped divine a key person named Liu Chuanjie. He’s locked up in Fish City Prison. He’s a depraved serial killer who has murdered fifty-seven people, which means he meets the criteria to be a ritual sacrifice. ’Ghost’ will definitely go after him," Orlando said.
"So we just lie in wait..." Zhou Chen suddenly saw a problem. "No, wait. How would ’Ghost’ know that he’s a suitable ritual sacrifice? Remote Sensing?"
"Over the years, ’Ghost’ has developed a network of followers. You’ve encountered them before, haven’t you?" Orlando reminded him. "Some of those people are volunteers, while others are under Mind Control. They are scattered across the World, helping ’Ghost’ find suitable sacrifices."
"I scouted that prison earlier and found one of ’Ghost’s’ followers inside. He has already secretly sent a signal to ’Ghost’. And based on the images from the divination, we can conclude that ’Ghost’ will go there to collect Liu Chuanjie’s Soul."
"I see." Zhou Chen nodded thoughtfully. After a moment’s consideration, he asked, "Didn’t the lady’s divination show any more details?"
Orlando shook his head. "Divination has its limits, especially since ’Ghost’ has also received Power from some evil entity."
’That’s true...’ Zhou Chen nodded.
"Then let’s go to Fish City Prison and set everything up."
·
「Southeast Asia.」
An earthquake had just struck a coastal city, and the resulting tsunami had caused massive casualties.
As the Star Association’s Grand Councilor for Asia, Dupe had just finished consoling the victims and was now inspecting the devastated coastline to formulate a disaster relief plan.
Just then, his Secretary came over and whispered a few words in his ear.
Dupe nodded, his expression unchanging, and gazed calmly at the churning ocean in the distance.
"What a useless fool. Not only did he get himself caught, but he couldn’t even manage to kill himself... Clean up all the traces. Prepare the plane. We’re going to the Eastern Continent."
"Yes."
·
「Late at night, Fish City.」
A shadow slipped silently into the dead-quiet Fish City Prison.
The shadow moved through the vast building and soon arrived inside a cell.
Liu Chuanjie was fast asleep on his bunk, completely unaware of the approaching danger.
The shadow writhed and rose, forming a human figure. It struck out at Liu Chuanjie on the bed.
BAM!
Liu Chuanjie’s body instantly exploded like a balloon, startling the shadowy figure for a moment. But immediately after, the remains of the body transformed into a torrent of sludge that surged toward the figure, engulfing it and instantly hardening into a solid sculpture of mud.
CRACK.
The mud sculpture held for less than a second before it shattered into pieces. ’Ghost’ knew it had walked into an ambush and immediately turned back into a shadow to escape.
BOOM!
Just then, a brilliant golden Sun rose within the pitch-black prison, illuminating it as bright as day. The scorching light instantly forced ’Ghost’ out of its shadow state.
SHING!
With the ring of a blade, a man in Knight Armor appeared, swinging his longsword down at Ghost’s head.
·
「Meanwhile.」
At the entrance of a hotel in Fish City, the automatic doors slid open slowly.
Zhou Chen walked straight into an elevator and randomly pressed a button for a high floor.
As the elevator rose, the sensation of weightlessness came over him.
He stared intently at the control panel.
1st Floor... 2nd Floor... 3rd Floor...
Suddenly, the panel flickered, displaying the number "4" in a blood-red color.
’We’re here...’ A jolt went through Zhou Chen.
