Lord of Rot

Chapter 312 - 292: Undead Cavalry, Charge

"They’re all charging over from the direction of Lilac Village."

Coincidentally, Leech’s objective was also to rendezvous with his support team near Lilac Village.

Aina, relying on her incredibly potent self-healing ability, was cutting a swath through the horde. Her full suit of armor also protected her from the corrosive attacks of thorny vines.

But only twenty or thirty of the Skeleton Soldiers he had painstakingly raised were left scattered about. The skeletons on the ground had been trampled to pieces, with no chance of being reassembled.

If this continued, once the enemy’s numbers exceeded a thousand, Leech would have no choice but to turn and flee.

"Since their attention is on me, I’ll be the bait!"

Leech yanked the reins and charged forward.

Just as he expected!

Upon sensing Leech’s movement, the corpses actually changed direction and chased after him.

An idea struck Leech, and he issued a command to the Necromancer, Ah Yamei.

’Since the ground is covered in corpses, she can just open a portal and pull reinforcements through.’

The unnoticed Corpse Ghost, Ah Yamei, silently used the flesh and blood of the corpses on the ground as a sacrifice to open a portal.

She confirmed the anchor points. With dozens of anchors clustered together, the location couldn’t possibly be wrong.

A Bone Horse poked its head out of the portal, stepping through with its front hooves first.

As its body emerged halfway, the black-armored Cavalryman on its back was revealed.

The Cavalryman sat quietly on its mount, halting beside Ah Yamei.

SHINK!

Leech slashed downward, lopping off half the head of a reaching corpse. After a quick glance at its shriveled cerebellum, he straightened up in his saddle.

The ground was treacherous. If not for Leech’s masterful horsemanship, he likely would have already been thrown from his horse.

The horde followed close behind him. He was nearly caught several times, but thankfully, his timely counterattacks prevented him from being dragged off his horse.

After making a wide circle, Leech glanced back.

The portal was just closing.

"Hiyah!" He turned his horse and charged back to the Necromancer Ah Yamei’s side.

An elite squadron of black-armored Undead Cavalry was already waiting for him in orderly formation.

The Bone Horses shook their heads.

The Undead Cavalry held their lances, which trembled slightly as the Bone Horses shifted.

"ROAR!"

"ARGH!"

The corpse horde ignored these dead things and continued to chase Leech.

Leech looped around behind the Undead, issuing his command before his horse even came to a full stop.

"Charge!"

RUMBLE!

The Undead Cavalry moved as one!

The Bone Horses’ hooves pounded the ground. After just a few strides, they accelerated to top speed—a pace no normal warhorse could ever hope to match.

The black-armored Undead Knights lowered their lances. Like a single, sharp spear of bone, they plunged into the corpse horde.

A single charge shattered the horde’s formation!

The Undead Cavalry’s advance was completely unimpeded. Unlike ordinary Undead, they had been Cavalrymen in life, riding warhorses, which made them far more powerful.

Moreover, their equipment was of much higher quality.

Not only that, but they had no true weaknesses. Even if they were smashed to pieces, they could be rapidly reassembled.

The Undead Cavalry only began to slow down after charging far into the distance.

They wheeled around, their target still the corpse horde. By now, however, the horde was completely scattered, its formation gone.

Charge!

They charged again. Now a disorganized mob, the corpse horde could no longer obstruct the attack. Bodies were sent flying, and every Knight’s lance was adorned with at least a few stray limbs.

Heads were the most numerous, skewered like candied fruit on a stick.

The warhorses never tired, the Knights could not die. There was only the charge, an endless charge!

Even if one shattered against a tree, it would be pieced back together with incredible speed by the Necromancer, Ah Yamei.

Their own casualties remained at zero, while the enemy horde’s losses mounted rapidly.

The power of this charge was so terrifying that even Aina stopped her slaughter and returned to Leech’s side, seeking shelter to avoid being swept up in it.

「Finally!」

When the Undead Cavalry finally halted, not a single standing corpse could be seen on the ground.

Leech was shaken. ’So, Cavalry really is the answer to the meta.’

He turned to Ah Yamei. "Keep opening the gate!"

There were now hundreds of corpses on the ground, but the power Leech required was far more than this. ’Keep pulling them through!’
