“Argh!” Arkalon instinctively raised his hand to shield himself from the scorching light and overwhelming heat of the star that had suddenly appeared overhead. “Oh…” But only a moment later, he slowly lowered his hand again. “What exactly am I doing? I’m merely a soul creature.”
Then he shifted his attention back toward the battlefield.
Toward the horrifying war where living and dead space beasts were endlessly tearing each other apart.
The number of living beasts continued decreasing at a steady pace, which constantly increased the amount of guarding corpses under Arkalon’s control.
Yet at the same time, the corpses themselves were continuously being vaporized beneath the relentless attacks of the surrounding beasts, maintaining a strange and fragile balance throughout the battlefield.
But that balance was not truly satisfying to Arkalon.
“…Hmm, the field of death has not been fully milked yet.” The soul creature rapidly spun the Seraphim Brush between his fingers before a smile slowly spread across his face. “This will be a wonderful idea.”
Then he suddenly raised his hand and began drawing at incredible speed.
Golden lines rapidly filled the surrounding void before he finally pushed the gigantic formation forward.
<The Arkalonian Array of Soul Freezing.>
The golden formation immediately began rotating while drawing vast amounts of energy directly from the nearby gigantic golden vortex.
Moments later, slow and incredibly heavy golden winds started emerging from the formation itself.
The winds spread across the battlefield with unbelievably sluggish movement, as though they had no urgency whatsoever.
Yet the moment those winds arrived…
Something strange began happening.
Every beast touched by the winds continued attacking normally.
None of them screamed.
None of them showed pain.
None of them even seemed to notice the change at first.
But gradually…
Something bizarre became visible.
Their movements slowed down.
No…
Not merely their movements.
The very decision to move became slower.
A beast would now spend one or two entire seconds deciding where to move, how to move, or which attack to unleash next.
It was as though the thoughts themselves had begun traveling more slowly inside their minds!
Unfortunately for them…
Their enemies possessed no soul domains requiring thought in the first place.
Baaaaam.
The wall of corpses instantly began expanding farther outward, slaughtering larger numbers than before.
The balance had collapsed!
“My goodness!!” Arkalon squeezed the feather brush tightly while laughing loudly. “I was born for battles like this, hahaha… or perhaps I died for them? Doesn’t matter.”
Then he looked toward a certain direction and raised his voice dramatically.
“Hey! Some assistance would be appreciated over here! How long are you planning to stand around doing nothing?! The young and adult space beasts still require someone to kill them!”
“….”
Blokan, Althira, and Asir lowered their heads silently without uttering a single word.
As for Morgana, she immediately shouted:
“I’m ready! Can you provide me with some of those units?”
The phantom that had saved her life earlier had already disappeared entirely.
She had outright refused to continue fighting for Robin in any capacity, leaving Morgana with barely enough units to preserve her own survival.
“My pleasure!” Arkalon casually waved his hand, causing a massive stream from the golden vortex to surge directly toward Morgana’s forehead.
“…Amazing.” Morgana slowly closed her eyes and muttered softly. “So pure. No refinement required. No disturbances within the domain despite entering at this speed and in such quantity.”
Then she reopened her eyes, now pulsing with renewed vitality and strength, before immediately charging toward the opposite side of Arkalon.
Hoooom. Hoooom. Hoooom.
Soul Gates rapidly began appearing once more.
And Morgana rejoined the battle without the slightest hesitation.
“…”
Meanwhile, the other three lowered their heads even further.
Blokan secretly stole a prolonged glance toward the passage gate.
For the very first time in his life, he truly realized how beautiful breathing actually was.
How pleasant the sound of a beating heart could become.
How comforting the warmth created by flowing blood inside a living body truly felt.
His energy reserves had almost completely dried up.
If a nascent space beast attacked him in that exact moment, it would devour him effortlessly without encountering resistance.
Asir was in slightly better condition thanks to his brief trip beyond the gate earlier, but even he was no longer capable of continuing the fight.
His frail body desperately wanted to sweat from exhaustion and fear, yet no longer possessed sufficient energy to even produce sweat.
As for Althira…
“…Hey.” Asir finally noticed Althira’s state beside him and gently patted her shoulder. “Are you alright?”
Znnnnnnn—
Althira could no longer hear anything at all.
A piercing ringing endlessly echoed inside her ears, drowning out the sounds of battle, screams, explosions, and even her own breathing.
Her blood flow had become painfully sluggish.
Her heartbeat now came only once every several minutes, each beat weak and distant, as though her heart itself were slowly forgetting how to continue functioning.
Meanwhile, the skin around her eyes and neck had turned dark blue and black, and even her eyes themselves had become bluish-red, unfocused, unstable, and barely conscious.
“Hey!” Asr immediately grabbed Althira’s shoulders with both hands and shook her slightly. “Are you with me? Can you hear me?!”
“…” Blokan also noticed Althira’s condition, yet after a brief glance he merely sighed and looked away.
There was very little left to say.
The three of them resembled mortals trapped at the bottom of an endless ocean inside a broken submarine.
They could see the surface above them…
Yet could never hope to reach it.
They possessed lungs and noses…
Yet there was no air left for them to breathe.
Their physical needs were no longer being supported by their weakened bodies.
It was only a matter of time before all three of them died.
None of them had trained their soul power deeply enough to sustain life independently the way Morgana had managed to…
And considering the siege surrounding them…
And Lord Human’s epic battle occurring nearby…
It was merely a matter of time before they di—
Hoooom.
“Huh?” Blokan suddenly jolted violently.
Something had begun forming around them.
Something resembling an enormous glass bubble gradually materialized around the three of them, spanning nearly the size of an entire stadium.
At the same time, green grassy ground suddenly emerged beneath their feet.
Three strange transparent spheres appeared nearby.
And—
Inhaaaaaaaaaale.
“Air!” Asir shouted immediately, his eyes widening in disbelief. “Pure air unlike anything I’ve ever breathed before!”
Then he immediately began looking around frantically.
“Did I die? Is this heaven?”
“Cough! Coughhh—!” Althira suddenly collapsed onto her knees and began coughing violently.
She desperately inhaled air as though competing against time itself.
“Haaah… haaahhh…”
For the very first time in her entire life, Althira realized that a person could truly die simply from the inability to breathe.
Yet it had nearly happened to her today.
The mere realization alone sent violent chills throughout her spine.
And as blood circulation slowly returned to her head, allowing her to properly understand what she had experienced moments earlier…
Her shock and fear only deepened further.
“No… we are not dead, and this is not heaven.” Blokan slowly extended his hand toward the grassy ground before turning his gaze toward a distant direction. “But this is undoubtedly a miracle. And if it is a miracle…” His eyes slowly narrowed. “Then he is definitely the one responsible for it.”
At that moment, Robin stood beneath the dwarf sun, still fighting continuously without even glancing toward them.
“Those spheres…” Asir slowly approached the nearest transparent sphere before hesitating briefly prior to touching it.
Its power was obvious even without direct contact.
Its mere existence radiated something terrifying.
“Learn to read the situation.” Blokan directly reached out and grabbed the sphere without hesitation. “The one giving us life would not harm us.”
Hooooom.
“Ahhh!!” Blokan’s mouth immediately opened wide in shock.
The transparent sphere contained a monstrous amount of energy.
Pure energy.
Within mere moments, it completely flooded his dried-out body!
Asr immediately copied him.
“Khk—!!”
And Althira—
“Hooooo~” She released a long trembling exhale before slowly standing once more and extending her hand toward another sphere.
The instant she touched it, energy surged through her body violently.
Her frail and exhausted body immediately regained its former vitality and color.
“Hoo…” Blokan had already stabilized his condition entirely and fully absorbed the energy by then.
Even if this miraculous zone vanished immediately afterward, he would still be capable of surviving and continuing the battle for several additional hours without issue.
Then he slowly took several steps toward the direction where Robin stood proudly beneath the miniature sun.
“….”
He stared silently at Robin for several moments.
At the blood.
At the destroyed body.
At the monstrous pressure shaking the battlefield.
And at the figure still standing despite all of it.
“If we somehow survive today…”
Then Blokan suddenly fell silent again before finishing the sentence.
According to everything currently happening around them, there was no point even imagining what might happen after survival in the first place.
He simply struck the ground heavily with his foot…
Then went to assist Arkalon.
