Love Across the Light Years -The Devil CEO Indulges My Lies.
Chapter 334: ... when someone is missing them wholeheartedly.Nigel’s expression changed.
His brows drew tightly together before he reached out and turned Little Leo toward him. Looking straight into his heterochromatic eyes, he said sternly, "You promised me something, Leo. You aren’t forgetting that, are you??"
Little Leo’s expression only hardened.
One look, and it said it all ...
He remembered what he had promised. However, he wasn’t planning to keep it for long.
"I haven’t forgotten it, Uncle," he said, but his gaze gave him away. "Leo is too young to go and fight people he can’t defeat head-on. Leo won’t leave the Dark Wood Forest. He’ll stay here and recover first before going out to find Mama."
Nigel knew exactly what was going on inside the little guy’s mind...
However, he didn’t expose him.
He knew he won’t be able to keep him here for long.
Nigel stared at him for a moment before saying, "Always remember you’re very important to your mother. Don’t get yourself into any trouble. Or it will only hurt her."
Little Leo listened to him intently and nodded.
His round cheeks only looked even rounder when he acted like that.
Nigel’s gaze remained on him for a little longer before he finally took a deep breath and said, "Now that you’re awake and feeling better, stay well and rest on time. I have to go back."
Little Leo watched him as Nigel stood up, preparing to leave.
Although the little boy had always put on the exterior of a tough little adult, beneath that exterior, he was still just a child.
A child who had stayed alone in the depths of this deserted forest, away from his mother, his family, and the rest of the world.
Nigel was the only family he had always been around.
And even he only came to meet him for a short while.
Seeing him leave again, the little boy’s heart saddened slightly.
He didn’t say anything. Instead, he quietly lowered his eyes and stared at the floor, trying to hide the emotions that were becoming too difficult to conceal.
He knew he had to stay away from his mother.
But every time he saw his uncle returning like this, he couldn’t help but want to tag along with him, even if it was only to catch a glimpse of his mother.
Couldn’t he go just once?
His little fingers fidgeted together as he tried to make his heart understand that he couldn’t.
Protecting Mama was important.
And he still wasn’t sure if he was really ready to protect her yet.
Nigel stood there watching him.
He didn’t know exactly what the little guy was thinking, so he simply said what he felt was right.
Ruffling his hair gently, he waited for the little one to look up.
When their eyes met, Nigel smiled at him. "Be good, Leo. Uncle will try to come back often."
The little boy nodded in understanding.
However, just as Nigel turned to walk away, Little Leo suddenly reached out and held his hand, tugging gently to stop him.
"Uncle," he called softly.
And in that soft, desperate tone, Nigel finally heard the little boy hidden beneath the tough exterior Little Leo always wore.
"Has Mama grown more beautiful? Can Leo see her in your phone?"
Nigel’s heart clenched.
However, he didn’t let that emotion show on his face.
Keeping the smile on his lips, he nodded.
"Of course, you can."
With that, Nigel pulled out his phone and showed him the picture he had secretly taken for him. Though he hadn’t had the plans of visiting her, he knew when he did, the little guy would ask him for it.
So, he was prepared.
Little Leo immediately grabbed the phone and looked at the image displayed on the screen.
Behind him, Baldie, Blondie, and Saddie also stepped forward to take a peek. Their eyes brightened slightly at the sight of the beautiful woman on the screen.
"Little Master, is this really your mother?" Saddie asked first, as though he still couldn’t quite believe what he was seeing.
However, Baldie smacked him lightly on the back of his head.
"Of course, she is. Can’t you see that Little Master looks so much like her?"
"But Little Master’s eyes don’t look like hers." Saddie leaned closer to get a better look. "Even his nose isn’t like hers."
"You—"
Baldie was about to kick him.
But before he could, Blondie’s voice drew their attention back to the picture on the phone.
"Whoa! She’s so pretty," Blondie said in an awestruck voice. "Little Master, your mother is really ... really beautiful. Even prettier than me."
Little Leo only looked proud and happy.
Staring at the picture, he said with quiet certainty, "Leo’s Mama is the prettiest in the world. No one can be prettier than her."

Back at Sanctuary Heights—
Adelyn was sitting leisurely, reading the script Freya had sent her, while Little Eira was kneeling on the floor, coloring in her book on the center table in the living room.
The atmosphere was warm, quiet, and peaceful.
For the first time since waking up that morning, Adelyn felt as though she could finally relax.
She had already spent enough time thinking about Dylan, his strange explanation, Ford’s knowledge of medicine, and everything else that had happened the previous night.
But still she was as confused as she had been before.
So for now, she simply decided to focus on her work.
But then, suddenly, out of nowhere—
Achoo!
Adelyn sneezed.
The sudden sound made Little Eira immediately turn back and look at her.
Seeing the little girl’s worried gaze, Adelyn shook her head, silently telling her that it was nothing ... and that she was fine.
However, before she could say anything, another sneeze escaped her.
Achoo!!
Her brows tugged together slightly in confusion.
"Mama, are you all right??" Little Eira asked sweetly. "Are you feeling cold??"
Adelyn paused for a second before shaking her head.
"No, baby. I’m not feeling cold at all. The house is quite warm, and even the windows are closed."
Achoo!!
She sneezed again.
This time, the little girl stood up and trotted over to her.
Without saying anything, she stood in front of her, reached out and placed her little hand against Adelyn’s forehead, carefully checking her temperature.
"Mama’s forehead isn’t as hot as it was last night."
Adelyn smiled and gently pulled Eira’s hand away from her forehead, holding it in her own.
"Of course, baby. It’s not hot. The fever hasn’t returned, and I’m fine."
"Then ... why are you sneezing, Mama?" Eira asked, still looking concerned. "Doesn’t the doctor say that sneezing can be a symptom of a cold too?"
Adelyn parted her lips to explain.
However, she didn’t quite know how to answer that.
She herself didn’t understand why she had suddenly started sneezing.
It wasn’t particularly cold, and she didn’t feel sick either.
Just when she was trying to figure out how to explain it to the little girl, Mabel spoke from the side.
"Little Young Miss, they even say that one suddenly sneezes when someone misses them wholeheartedly."
Adelyn paused at that.
Someone missing her wholeheartedly...?
