Ariel has her brother Jorge Saxton to rely on, and now she has her brother Arlo Seys to protect and cherish her. Daisy has Brother Dawn to accompany her, shielding her from life’s storms.

But Nicole has no one; she has nothing.

She thought Jose Floyd could protect her forever, safe and sound, but she found out that as long as he is the boss of the Restricted District and she is Miss Seys, there remains an unbridgeable chasm between them, the biggest barrier, let alone a lifetime of peace.

Even if Jose Floyd risked his life to protect her, she knew that once Jose’s mother found out about their entanglement, there would be ugly words to curse her, not to mention his fiancée Andrea Greenwood, who would also curse her.

Home-wrecker, mistress, shameless? These words stab her like sharp blades, leaving her body and soul bruised!

Family is a harbor, a reliance, but she has grown up and can’t always worry them, so there are many things her family doesn’t know.

Nicole silently sheds tears, absentmindedly sitting in the back seat until the driver reminds her in English that the destination has been reached.

Nicole paid the bill, carrying her bag, passport, and other belongings as she boarded the flight to City C.

-

The autumn leaves fell in colorful abundance, and City C’s autumn had a hint of chill. The time spent with family was warm and quick; in the blink of an eye, half a month had passed since returning home.

Nicole accompanied Old Master Seys, Dominic, playing Go with a faint smile on her face, "Grandpa, you won again, you never let me win, how could I possibly beat you? If this continues, I won’t subject myself to this anymore, I won’t play Go with you."

Dominic laughed heartily, "It’s not that your Go skills are poor, it’s just that since I retired I’ve been leisurely playing Go, so my skills have become more refined. Few can match me; besides Arlo and Adonis Quinn, others aren’t quite my rivals. Adonis is nicknamed the Fox, truly cunning, as for your brother Arlo, I’m happy to lose to my grandson, ’the blue surpasses the blue,’ I’m proud."

"Grandpa adores my brother deeply," Nicole smiled.

"Nonsense, Grandpa loves you too!" Dominic laughed, then suddenly coughed, his complexion turning pale and sickly.

Nicole immediately helped Dominic catch his breath and handed him a cup of warm tea after his coughing fit.

Dominic took the tea, shook his head, and sighed, "Grandpa fears this body won’t last past this winter. Nicole, when do you plan to marry? I’m only worried about you now. If I could see you happy, I could leave with peace of mind."

Nicole took the cup from Dominic’s hand, her eyes lowered, and after a long silence, she slowly said, "Grandpa, I know that choosing Brother Cooper means a lifetime of security, the Cooper family has undeniable conditions, Brother Cooper and the Cooper parents are easy to get along with, I know everyone who knows me hopes I choose Brother Cooper, because that way I would be guaranteed for life. They say when choosing a husband, either they match you in status or they love you and treat you like a treasure, and Brother Cooper has both."

"But, Grandpa, in this lifetime, one will only be moved by one person, regardless of the outcome, always wanting to strive for it with determination.

"Grandpa, the person who moves me, unfortunately, isn’t Brother Cooper but the person I met eight years ago..."

"But I am never favored by destiny, lacking fate and affinity, I know it will end up empty-handed. Still, to marry Brother Cooper, I truly... truly can’t do it."
