Arlo Seys looked at the grieving faces of the Cooper parents, then dropped his gaze onto his own younger sister. His expression grew extremely dark as he spoke in a low voice to the pale Nicole: "Come out with me."
Arlo lifted his leg and walked out first.
Nicole bit her lip and followed in her brother’s footsteps.
At the stairwell at the end of the hospital corridor.
Arlo stopped, turned around to face his sister, his expression cold as frost: "Speak. Who pulled the trigger?"
Someone actually dared to shoot the Cooper family’s eldest son in a public park!
Nicole’s fingertips were ice-cold. She slowly opened her mouth, her voice slightly hoarse: "Camden... his target was me. Brother Cooper took the hit for me, he..."
Arlo’s face instantly turned frigid, his eyes flashing with a sharp, icy light: "In City C, Camden dares to come after you! Jose Floyd really thinks his Restricted District is untouchable, that no one dares lay a finger on it, is that it?! I’ll move against the Restricted District today, I want to see for myself who actually calls the shots in City C!"
Arlo finished speaking and swept a look over his sister. "You stay in the hospital and wait for Steven Cooper to come out, keep the Cooper couple company. The rest, leave to me."
Looking at the coldness and chill in her brother’s eyes, Nicole’s heart gave a sudden jolt, panic flickering in her gaze. "Arlo, what are you going to do?"
"What am I going to do? I’m going to make sure the Restricted District ceases to exist! Anyone who dares lay a hand on you should already know the consequences! In City C, I, Arlo Seys, decide how things go!" Arlo strode off, his face icy and aristocratic.
"Arlo! It wasn’t him! It wasn’t Jose Floyd!" Nicole hurriedly grabbed Arlo’s arm, stopping him from leaving.
If her brother really struck at the Restricted District, no matter which side got hurt, the one who’d suffer would be her. It was the last thing she wanted to see.
"Nicole, I gave you two years to straighten out your feelings and your entanglement with Jose Floyd. With Ariel persuading me, I never interfered in your personal affairs, because I believed you should be able to handle them. But look at how things are now! Steven Cooper is lying in the emergency room, life and death unknown, and you’ve been repeatedly targeted for assassination. Do you really think I can still stand back and do nothing? He had only one younger sister. When their grandfather was gravely ill, he repeatedly instructed him to protect this only sister well. There was no way he would keep turning a blind eye!
"Arlo... it really wasn’t him, believe me!" Nicole clutched Arlo’s hand even tighter. If she loosened her grip for even a second, if her brother stepped out of here, the Seys Family and Jose Floyd would truly become enemies.
Arlo looked Nicole over, his gaze indifferent and cold. "Our Seys Family owes the Cooper Family, do you understand? If we don’t get justice for this, how are we supposed to face them?
