Lust Dominion: The Ultimate Harem System

Chapter 44: Can Adam Change? [Turning Point 1]

Darkness.

Not the soft kind that comes with sleep.

The heavy, absolute kind that arrives when the skull takes a blow it was never meant to survive.

Lira’s voice was the last thing that reached him.

Broken. Close. Calling his name like it still mattered.

Then nothing.

---

When awareness returned, there was no pain.

No blood.

No street.

No weight of a body that had been running on bad decisions and worse luck.

Kai sat in a white chair in a white room that had no walls, no floor, no ceiling. Just endless, perfect white in every direction. His wrists and ankles were bound to the chair with something that did not feel like rope or metal. It simply held.

He looked down.

The hands were wrong.

Older.

Thinner in some places, softer in others. The small scar on the left knuckle from a childhood fall was there. The faint callus from years of gripping a cheap phone was there. This was not the thin, hard body of the lower district orphan.

This was...his past body.

The body that had died on Earth.

Kai stared at those hands for a long time.

"...Where am I."

His own voice sounded distant.

"That’s right. I died."

The words left his mouth flat. Not dramatic. Just factual. He had been hit in the head on a dirty street in another world, and now he was here, wearing the skin of a life that had already ended once.

He let his head drop forward. The white around him felt heavier than any darkness.

His past life had been nothing special.

Average face. Average grades. Average loneliness. He had scrolled through other people’s highlight reels, told himself he would change tomorrow, and then watched tomorrow become years. No great tragedy. No great purpose. Just a quiet, consistent failure to become anyone worth remembering.

Then this world.

An orphanage. A System that fed on desire. A girl with an ink stain on her finger who kept choosing to stand beside him. Blood, knives, debts, and the first time in either life that something had felt like it might actually matter.

And now that, too, was being taken.

A soft sound, like fabric shifting where there was no fabric, made him look up.

A man stood three steps away.

Everything about him was white. Skin, hair, eyes with no pupils, clothes that were not quite clothes. He was naked in the way a concept is naked — present, but without the details that make a body real. His smile was wide and perfectly curved. No teeth showed. The expression sat on his face like it had been painted there and left forever.

Kai stared.

"Who the hell are you?"

No answer.

The smile did not move.

Something ugly and tired rose in Kai’s chest.

"You brought me here." His voice cracked on the edge of a laugh that had no humor in it. "You dropped me in that orphanage, gave me a System that runs on wanting things I shouldn’t want, let me start building something that almost felt real... and then you just take it back?"

Still nothing.

Kai’s breathing got sharper.

"My first life was garbage. I know that. I wasted it. I sat in a small room and let years rot while I told myself I was waiting for a better moment. Then I wake up in a place where people sell children and cut throats for coin, and for some reason I start trying. I bleed. I mark a girl without asking. I almost get her killed. I start caring whether she lives through the next night."

His voice rose.

"And now I’m here again. Tied to a chair in a white void, wearing the body that already failed once. What was the point? Was this just another joke? Give the loser a second round so you can watch him lose harder?"

The white man’s smile remained exactly the same.

Kai surged against the bonds. They did not give.

"Say something!"

Silence.

The rage broke into something rawer.

"I was starting to believe it," he said, quieter now, almost to himself. "That maybe this time the effort would count. That maybe the girl with the ink stain and the stubborn mouth was proof that I hadn’t completely wasted the chance. And you wait until I’m face-down in a street with my skull ringing to pull the curtain."

His eyes burned. He refused to call it tears.

"To hell with that."

He pulled harder. The chair did not move. The white around him stayed perfect and endless.

The man took one step closer.

Then another.

Until his face was close enough that Kai could see there were no pores, no flaws, nothing human in the skin. The curved smile filled his vision.

A whisper, soft and almost gentle, brushed against his ear.

"Want to change?"

The question was simple.

It landed like a blade.

Kai’s breath stopped.

Every failure from the first life.

Every ugly compromise in the second.

Every moment he had chosen the easy lie over the hard truth.

Every time he had looked at Lira and felt something he did not deserve.

The bonds held his body.

They did not hold the answer that rose from somewhere older and more desperate than thought.

"...Yes."

The white man’s smile did not change.

But the void did.

---

Pain returned first.

Then sound.

Then the rough stone under his cheek and the copper taste of blood in his mouth.

Kai’s eyes opened on the same dirty lane where the heavy man’s club had found his skull. The red-corded book lay a few feet away. Shouting still echoed between the buildings. Lira’s voice was somewhere close, raw with panic.

The System exploded across his vision in a flood of light and text he had never seen at this density.

Power settled into his limbs like it had always been waiting.

Kai pushed himself up on one elbow. Blood still ran down the side of his head, but the world no longer tilted. The heavy South Cut man was turning back toward him, surprise beginning to replace satisfaction.

Lira was running.

Kai met the man’s eyes, and for the first time since arriving in this world, the fear that usually lived behind his ribs was quiet.

He had answered yes.

Now the district would learn what that cost.
